We never received any letter/notification about combo interview. On the day of the interview my husband and I asked at the check-in desk about it, the officer looked it up on his computer and said he didn't see anything about combo interview in my file, but that my husband should go wait with me in the waiting room just in case. We waited about an hour past our scheduled interview time in the waiting room. When I was finally called into one of the rooms I asked the officer about a combo interview and she said yup let's all go in and we'll do the I-751 part first. When we got to the interview room it didn't seem like she had my I-751 file ready because she asked us when we filed it and looked it up on her computer first. She asked if we had any additional supporting documents that we would like to show her (she noted that she also had my N-400 files so no need to show those again) and I gave her printouts of our most recent bank accounts and two pages of photos from the past couple of years that I printed at home (8 photos on each page). She looked over the photos and asked whether the people in some of the photos were our families (yes they were; some with my husband's family and some with mine). It's all a blur now but if I remember correctly the only other things she asked us were our living situation (where we currently live and whether we had lived at a different address previously), and whether we have any child together. Nothing elaborate or probing. Our I-751 was approved instantly and we all had to walk my husband out the interview room together. After releasing my husband back into the waiting area, the officer walked me back into the interview room for the N-400 portion of the interview. She had me take the civil test right away (which I passed). And then she asked if anything had changed since I submitted my application and I told her that we recently had a family trip overseas. She looked it up on her computer and asked if that's the one from so-and-so date to so-and-so date, and I confirmed (I was a bit surprised that she knew the exact dates before I told her but I guess they have all our exit and entry data from the airlines/immigration so don't even try to lie about these things). She asked what the destinations were and what the trip was for (conference and family vacation). Lastly she verbally asked all the yes/no questions that were part of the application. And then she said my application was approved! She had me go over the oath and sign it, and told me that the next oath ceremony would be downstairs in 30 minutes! I was shocked because I had a morning interview and had heard that ceremonies normally took place at the end of the day, so I asked her how often the ceremonies took place and she said "every one and a half hour, we want everyone do be done with this quickly since they have already been waiting for a long time," which I thought was nice. I know not every field office does this though -- this was in Seattle. There were probably around 20-25 people (plus their companions) at my ceremony, and when we left the next group was already lining up outside, which looked to also be around 20, so there must be over 100 naturalized citizens coming out of this field office each day!

4/09: Interview scheduled for 5/21
4/16: Called USCIS to reschedule interview we will be out of the country until mid June. I waited a week before calling because I wanted to avoid having the new interview date be only a few days after the original date as we would still be out of the country. I understood this was a gamble and I was risking getting buried in the queues.
4/16: Immediately received a notice that my original interview date has been canceled. I was aware of this verbiage so I didn’t freak out.
5/13: Received new interview date (took longer than expected). The new date is 6/18, which is perfectly what I was hoping for
6/18: Combo I-751 and N-400 interview; approved and oath ceremony on the same day!

That was a smart thing to do on your part; I didn't make any request because I assumed their system would automatically recognize and connect the two (I know, never assume..). Luckily our field office does combo interviews (supposedly not all of them do?) and that the officer was able to locate my I-751 files.

So I had my interview yesterday, an early appointment... Here's an outline of events...
Arrived at around 7:20 and found people milling outside the front door. Thought the office wasn't open yet due to the early morning timing. But it's already open. Showed security the letter before allowed to go through. Wife was not allowed to come in.
Went through an initial desk where they scanned the barcode on the letter multiple times (why she had to do it like 6 times, I don't know). Took my picture and fingerprints. Told to go upstairs to wait until my name is called.
When I first got upstairs, there were about 40 people. Despite people constantly being called in, it eventually got to nearly 100. Some people were called in and came back out even after I arrived. Staff said there was another person in front of me and that took longer than expected. I guess each officer was assigned a bunch of cases each day and it's luck of the draw or was assigned by the initial person I saw.
Anyway, finally got called after about an hour. Took the oath to tell the truth. Showed my GC and confirmed name and address. Civic test next... I was asked the following (not in the same order):
- Name of the national anthem
- How many senators are there?
- How many reps in the House?
- Ocean on the east coast
- The first 3 words of the Constitution
- When do we celebrate Independence Day?
But I got them all. Told to read a basic sentence out of an iPad, then write a sentence 'We pay taxes'.
Then he asked a bunch of questions that were on the application, mostly yes/no questions. Apparently, there were about 3 questions that my answers didn't match the application. He asked me to confirm and sign that he'd update the application to my new answers.
Then he clicked on his mouse a few more times, tapped on his keyboard... Chitchatted a bit... Then he printed out a letter saying I'm recommended for approval and head back downstairs for a new picture (not sure why, they already did it once today, but I got to bypass biometrics during the application process and my GC picture is 10 years old). I asked about timeframe, and he said maybe around 30 days... He congratulated me and walked me out.
Had a new picture taken, told not to smile on it...
Out the building after a little less than 2 hours. The interview took about 20 minutes. Prepared a few more printouts of evidence, didn't even touch them during the interview.
The system hasn't updated yet though... Is that normal?

SpicesAndSleep got a reaction from OldUser in Link for N-400 online filing?
Hello kind people of Visa Journey!
I am normally pretty savvy when it comes to immigration filings, but I cannot for the life of me find a working link for the N-400 online application. Not the PDF form (which I was able to download), but the actual submission/application portal?
Those who filed their N-400 application online; could you share the link to do so..? The "File Online" tab on the USCIS page (https://www.uscis.gov/n-400) took me to my my.uscis.gov account dashboard where I cannot find a way/link to the N-400 online filing. Am I missing something glaringly obvious here..? Thanks in advance!

Card was mailed! No interview needed and no citizenship application pending. I can’t believe it. Nearly 2 years later…
Good luck everyone!

Your mileage may vary but my husband's biometric appointment from an MSC case number was almost exactly 1 month after USCIS received my case.

You mentioned vacations in between business trips. I think it's in your interest to prioritize immigration. Feel free to do what you need to do, but know rescheduling biometrics or interviews is not advisable. You should be able to reschedule it as many times as you want, at least I didn't hear about the limit. But every time you reschedule you pause your case and risk USCIS denying your case, expecting you to show up for biometrics, even when you reschedule it.

@MlgSea You can also try to do a walk-in appointment. Many people here have done that successfully, but YMMV. Basically, if you get a biometrics notice with a date that falls within your travel dates, go ahead and go to the office where the biometrics is to be taken and see if they will go ahead and do it for you early. Of course this will only work if you are home when the letter comes in (or if you have a break in between trips before the scheduled appointment).

SpicesAndSleep got a reaction from Da & Nu in NVC Case Status: "Your case is currently at..." (CR-1)
We were documentarily qualified (CR-1) at the end of May, and at that time, the email that we received from the NVC said, "NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in JAKARTA, IDSA to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable)." So, knowing that it likely wouldn't be a while until the Embassy in Indonesia reopens, we didn't think much of it and just didn't expect to hear more from them anytime soon.
The thing is, now that embassies around the world are starting to reopen and ours started to do interviews for expedited cases, we second-guessed ourselves; should we have contacted the NVC to ask what the status of our case was and where it was? The CEAC website says that my case is currently at NVC. Is that normal? For those who are waiting (or were) in a limbo this whole time, where does the system say your case is at? Is it stuck at NVC even after becoming DQ'd like mine is, or did it get forwarded to the Embassy and has been waiting there the whole time?
I'm worried that we had missed a step and now everyone who got DQ'd after we did are already queuing up at their embassy while we're waiting cluelessly at the NVC..
