  1. We went empty-handed and my husband had to receive vaccinations. Later a doctor told us we could have gone to our aile hekimi and they would have completed a document for us showing that my husband had his vaccinations. Halk sağlığı ya da aile hekimi-- oradan bakılabilir. I think that would have saved us considerable dollars.
  2. Thank you all for the helpful clarifications! Yes, he has a conditional green card, so it seems like he's good to go without a transit visa. Now fingers crossed that the Lufthansa strike will all be in order soon...
  3. Next month my Turkish husband is coming to the US on his new I-551 visa. He has a 90-minute transfer in Munich before connecting to Denver. I attached a PDF I found on Germany's website. It states that Turkish passport holders need transit visas with a number of exceptions, which include having an I-551 visa valid for 2 years. My husband's is only valid for 6 months, unlike what's listed. My assumption is that he is still excluded from needing a transit visa, because he holds a valid visa from the USA (first exception on the list). Is this correct? Stakes are too high for us to get this wrong! Thank you in advance! airport-transit-country-list-data.pdf
  4. Hello! My husband has an interview in Ankara this week. In their email they ask for the most recent year's tax transcripts, yet on their website they ask for transcripts OR 1040/W-2s. We're not able to get 2021 tax transcripts yet. Do you know if they were okay with just the 1040s? THANKS!

Hello, everything is on a case by case basis, so one thing that is true for one person may not apply to another. That said, I heard people had to wait a little longer because they did not include the most recent tax transcript. However, if you cannot access your returns for a legitimate reason, you can write a letter explaining your situation, and attach the 1040s to that letter. The consulate considers those letters in their assessments. I hope this is helpful.

To add: Just Google "consulate explanation letter" and you can find templates. Here's one I found for the Canadian consulate, you can just sub with your relevant information (e.g. replace ICU with case number, etc.).

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply! We'll include a letter as you suggest. It seems like we're doing everything we can. All we can do is hope now. :)

Hello. They took the transcripts and 1099s from me. I’m not sure if it would create any problem during the interview, but It’s actually very easy to get transcripts from IRS website. You can create an account and download them in minutes. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion!

I have an account, but when I try logging in, it keeps saying there's an error 😔 I'll call tomorrow to see if anything can be done.

  6. Thanks! I'll provide those. I just wish the embassy's email matched their website. The website says transcripts OR tax returns from only the sponsorer. The email only says transcripts from sponsorer AND petitioner.
  7. Next week is my husband's interview in Ankara. The embassy sent an email saying we should bring and upload to CEAC "From petitioner and any co- sponsors for the most recent year." Our 2020 tax transcripts were accepted in 2021, which we had to request via snail mail. Will the embassy be okay with the 2020 transcripts that we had submitted? Any suggestions of what to bring if not? Thanks!
  8. We just got transferred last week in Ankara. This step isn't as predictable as the NVC, but I was able to guess within a week by filtering timelines on Visa Journey. Looks like there are a lot fewer results from B&H, which will make predicting a bit more difficult. https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=&op1=3&op2=&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op66=All&op7=Bosnia-Herzegovina&dfile=No&adv=
  9. Hello! We got an interview date today for July 6th. Any news for you yet? Best wishes.

  10. İnitially I sent a past flight receipt, tax returns, US financial account information with my US address, an (almost expired!) driver's license, and a letter from my father explaining that we would be living in their apartment. After this was rejected, we called NVC, and the woman said the things we sent in looked good, but that usually people send in rental/work contracts or school enrollment information. I really had nothing else to send in except my (also almost expired) state teaching license. Then I mentally prepared to move back to the States alone to get settled if domicile didn't pass again... But my prayers were answered, and the next official had grace on us and accepted my proof of domicile! I think the longer you're overseas, the more evidence they want, and, if it's accepted or not, depends on what kind of day the official is having. Good luck!
  11. My husband was RFE'd twice; the first time since our joint-sponsor was self-employed and we failed to add the tax forms required in that situation. Three months later we were RFE'ed again since I have been living abroad for 10 years; while everything was accepted, they wanted additional proof of my domicile. It seems like an officer checks a submission until they find something missing or decide more evidence is needed, then they send it back, which really prolongs the process.
  12. Thanks! I'd still love to hear from experiences of those who have already done the medical interview in Ankara for more information. I'm sure I don't have all the answers.
  13. Are there any Turkish citizens who could advise about our upcoming medical interview? Specifically I was wondering 1.) how to prove vaccination history and 2.) If there are any vaccinations we could get on our own ahead of time to save money at the medical appointment? Thank you!
