Sounds like I might have to return another day for the oath ceremony since my interview is pretty late in the day. Are we allowed to bring our phone in with us? And did you bring a bag with you or just carry all documents in a folder? I will be going by myself and won't be driving there, so trying to figure out the logistics of what I can bring with me as I won't have the option of leaving my stuff anywhere. Thanks for all the info!

@FatFIRE Yes, they allow phones and bags. I didn't take bag but a folder with documents (IO didn't even check any documents 🙂) and a phone. They perform security check similar to TSA. There is a valet parking across the street from USCIS office and a block away at 768 Sansome St.

    All the best 👍

Mostly PDFs! They are also not huge (around 3 MG each, way less than the 6 mg limit)

If these PDFs were downloaded online then you will not be able to upload it to USCIS website (happened with me and others as well, might be due to some technical limitations).

The workaround I used was - snipped each page into jpeg format and then converted each of them into PDFs and finally combined them in one PDF. I know it's a lot of work but it will be worth! Unless you can find a conversion tool which convert online PDFs into non-online format PDF.

I am applying for my N-400 (I thought waiting might help my I-751 but clearly I was mistaken) and every time I upload evidence I get an error message. I checked all of my document sizes - none of them are too big. This has now happened several times this week and last week. Any advice? Starting to worry that I'll have to redo the entire application.

Is it a pdf document that you are trying to upload?

    Hello everyone,

Journey over! I am now a proud citizen of the USA!

    short version:

    filed June 1 under 3 year rule;

Interview September 8 (notice came in late July) at Cleveland field office.

As with my i-485 the interview was held on time and professionally. Very straightforward, started with the civics test followed by reading/writing, then we went over my application, made a small change to my employment and got recommended for approval. Approval came by the time I got downstairs. All in all it took about 45min including wait.

Oath got canceled the next day (I believe because the oath in my city would be too short notice for the mail to arrive, but that's just a guess) and eventually scheduled the 29th for October 19.

I am grateful my journey is over, I personally cannot complain about timelines but I know I am very lucky in that regard.

Good luck to everyone; the destination really is worth the journey in this case.

(for anyone wondering, any time I checked online my estimated timeline was about 11-13months)

    Congratulations 🎉

Like the above post indicated, already, I had my biometrics just yesterday. This morning I received a text and so logged into my USCIS account. This is currently displayed. Now the waiting game, again. :) Here's to hoping for an interview date, one day, soon.

Don't worry about the estimated timeline that they show online as it is based off at least 5 year rule unless you fall under that category. Some cases might move fast based on their eligibility.

Yes, my address under n400 contact information is still my old address. I also gave the AR11 confirmation details on my first message. Thank you. I will do it again.

BTW, Did you get a receipt already after filing ar11?

After filing AR11 I just the confirmation email that my address change was requested through AR11. Once I contacted USCIS through 'inbox' new address was updated for my N400 application and same was updated under 'N400 contact information'.

Recently I got a message in my 'inbox' that my case was added to the local field office (SF) system to schedule for an interview 😱 depending on how fast slot becomes available my interview will be scheduled 🙏

    Hi there,

I did this steps but today i received a message from the officer to change my address online which i already did. I dont know what else to do. My address on my online account is still my old address. I filed AR11 online on Sept 17. May I ask how you exactly request to change your address through inbox?

     Thank you

Did you check if your new address was updated under "N-400 Contact Information"? (My Account > Profile)

Your address should be there if not then use below message to request them to update it.

*In addition to below message I would suggest to add info that you still see your old address under "N-400 Contact Information" (if you do).

    1) Under Subject select "A case already filed online"

    2) Under Case receipt number select your N400 case

    3) In the message box you can use below sample that I wrote to them.

    Hello everyone!

Has anyone moved during the N400 wait? We will be moving (same city) in October and I am worried about missing mail from USCIS even after we update our address with USCIS. This will be our first time moving during the immigration process.

We filed the N400 online. Will we get a scan uploaded online if any notices they send through the post office? Any tips to help make sure we don't miss any notices after we move?

Hi @Zowky I have gone through same situation. A month after filing N-400 application we (my spouse and I) moved within the same city but different zip code. Following are the actions I took.

    1. File Change Of Address (COA) at https://egov.uscis.gov/coa/displayCOAForm.do

    2. Next step, login to USCIS online account and request change of address on your N-400 file through 'inbox messages'. It takes about 2-3 weeks to hear from them with address update confirmation. I got confirmation after 7 days from USCIS officer that the new address is updated to my case.

    3. Meanwhile update address with USPS.

    4. Add updated address documents online through USCIS account if you filed N-400 online. (I added our house deed and home insurance)

Let me know if you need further help!

Both of us had our own separate interviews. Both had independent applications but the officer mentioned that they try to schedule the spouses on the same day and same time for convenience. Infact the officers went out of their way to make sure both of us are scheduled for the oath together. Everyone in the San Antonio office we super nice.

Ok, I thought you were under 3 year rule :). Thank you for your prompt response.

Just a quick update from the San Antonio Field Office. We had our interview today (07/19/2021) in the AM and we had the oath ceremony at 1:30 - 2:30 pm. It seems there are 90 slots for same day oath (split into two sessions of 45). All the rest are scheduled for later in the week (on Fridays from what I heard). If your interview is early in the day you should fit into the 90 people slot but if your interview is after 10:30 or 11:00, try to get in for your appointment as early as possible. If you are amonst the last people to get in for your 11:00 am slot you might miss the 90 people slots. Good luck. Blessed to have needed only *52 days* from application to oath.

    Congratulations @iSonic

Did immigration officer ask for your spouse to be present during your interview?

Hey Guys! Do you now if they ask you to show your expired green card at either the I-751 interview or citizenship interview? I have a pending I-751 but decided to file for citizenship at the end of May based on 3 year rule. However, my car got broken into last night and my wallet with my green card was taken. I really don't want to have to replace my green card since 1. It's expired  2. It's about $455. Does anyone have any insight on this? Would really appreciate it, thanks!

Your best bet is to consult an attorney or post your question at https://www.visajourney.com/ask/

IMO, I would contact USCIS and tell them about the situation and ask for next steps. Or, I will file for a replacement card which will act as a proof during an interview and oath ceremony that a card was lost and requested a new one.

I understand that it's additional $$$ but do you want to take a risk by not getting replacement/letting USCIS know that you lost your green card rather than having proof and get through it?
