Thank you!
By the way, another silly question: are you guys filling them out in capital letters? In VJ is not very clear whether or not we should write in capital letters. Does this really matter?
I don't think it matters as long as a) you're consistent, and b) you use black ink.

you hit the post (his VJ ID ) to see his page and everything he wrote is there unless it was sent in a personal message to one person
his one post has about 13 pages referencing this very issue
and i have time to read as retired early
Thank you! I just read it, and it's frustrating because he kept on existing with appeal instead of doing what people suggested him to do (refile)!

Im double checking my forms, and I'm trying to put "N/A" where there are empty boxes. I spoke to a USCIS rep. on the phone and they said to put N/A where empty boxes are. I am doing this on adobe and the file is locked in certain areas. So, when I try to put "N/A" in certain areas, it does not let me. Should just hand write N/A in all the forms after I print it out?
Adobe has a typewriter mode where you can "typewrite". Either that or Foxit PDF. I guess that handwriting would be ok, but we had the same issue and decided to be overly cautious and thus did the typewriter mode.

Thank you everyone! Also, in July I'll need to renew my driver's license (I had one as an F1 student). Will my DL be different? (In terms of years before expiration, cost, etc)

same to me
i read thru all and i mean all his posts and he talked about DNA and not sending it as it took 5 months or more but then he says some of it is a friends' case
so he and a friend have the same issues? and same case types?
anyway, all i can say is my opinion on appeal and refiling and it could be worthless as he has a lawyer who did the appeal and knows more of the case than i do
Quick question: how do you read all the previous posts? Thanks.

Hi everyone,
First, a little bit of background. I obtained my green card and EAD through family- based AOS (hubby is a USC). However, I still haven't updated my social security card (it still says something like "not for work authorization. I got it when I came with a J1 visa). The reason why I haven't updated it is because the SSA office is/was closed when I got my green card.
Tomorrow I have to start the paper work for a job, and they asked me to take my SS card. Because of this work restriction, I will explain to them that I wasn't able to go to their office to get it updated, but I am also going to take my EAD and GC so that they know that I am allowed to work.
I'm worried that I might lose the job because of this. Any thoughts?
TIA

Heya. Yes, we share the same residence since we are waiting a year at least before moving out. But we have already sent the i-864a with our application, so probably going to include a statement that says that we have submitted that just in case they still deem my husband's income evidence insufficient.
Cool, I just wanted to make sure that you knew about the I-864a. You should be fine, then. Plus, I can imagine that you are not the only one in that situation right now unfortunately due to COVID-19.

explain in his letter that it will be better going forward.
Hi there! Sorry that you got a RFE. I guess most of us have been there! However, bear in mind that they wanto see current income. Although the employment letter should say something about opportunities for future advancement, I would definitely focus on getting a joint sponsor, such as your father in law. So I would just send the I-864 signed by your husband, with the letter of employment and the pay stubs from his current job, and also send all the paperwork related to your joint sponsor.
Also, don't quote me on this, but I think your father in law should send I-864 and not I-864A (unless you share a household with him).

That's great! Congratulations.
Your case is a little different than what we usually see on this K-1 AOS thread. Did you receive the letter (RFE) before or during the field office closure period?
Hi there! Sorry, I just saw this message. We received the letter when the field office was already closed to the public (around April 7th)

Did anyone receive a message or update about the fingerprints ? I received a message about the NOA1 a month ago but nothing has been updated yet since then... I'm wondering if they are already doing appointments for fingerprints.. Thanks
Nop. USCIS offices and ASC are closed for the public until June 4th

PART 8, question #16, have you ever worked in the USA without authorization? Duh, I've been here for 14 years, many random jobs, got paid cash, personal checks, ect, is that a YES?
I mean, you kinda answered it yourself...

If I may add, I was in a similar (yet different) position. My husband made well above the poverty line. However, when we sent our initial package, we sent the tax ACCOUNT transcript instead of the tax RETURN transcript. Even though the tax account transcript shows more detailed info than the return one, they sent us a generic RFE that prompted us to get a joint sponsor. We knew we didn't need it, so what we did with that RFE was to send the tax return transcript, an employment letter, and six months of pay statements. And that made it.
What I am saying is just because they ask you for a joint sponsor and you didn't get one because your sponsor qualifies, that doesn't mean denial. But again, the burden of the evidence is on you.

I got Criminal Law Degree in England, know 4 languages, 26yo, perfect medical record. I got "Positive" on every single factor from that list so I hope for the best
I am not being mean, but you could be the perfect applicant and still not qualify if your sponsor does not prove that he/ she is able to support you. These personal characteristics bear no influence on the I-864.
44 minutes ago, United940 said:All the documents that were required and available were submitted, so on that part everything is alright, well I hope it is.
Technically, if you sent all the documents that were required then you should be fine. However, just meeting the threshold doesn't mean approval. It's at the officer's discretion.

Thank you everyone! I will buy a card holder to put that and the DL in it. That way, if I lose my wallet at least I don't lose the green card.

Hi everyone,
I recently got my conditional green card and was wondering if I should carry it with me all the time. What do you do with it?

Of course not. I was just responding to the thread because somebody quoted me to prove than more categories than K1 visas were being waived. I know my status😂😂😂

True.
Slightly different, but I've recently seen interview waived for AOS from student visa:
Yep. That's me.

I was thinking they see $30k claimed income and the tax return does not prove that. So they punch the “tax return RFE button“ which generates a letter meaning you didn’t document your income. But it is such a one-size-fits-all letter that you have no clue what they want.
Perhaps you should submit an employer letter stating your job and annual salary of $30,000 along with whatever you decide about transcripts.Yup. They press that button whenever they see something that's a little bit off in the I-864. For example, my husband makes way above the poverty line, but because se sent the tax account transcripts, they sent us a RFE to get a joint sponsor. The funny thing is that account transcripts show even more information than return transcripts, but whatever. We replied by sending the return transcripts and that was it.
-
Hi there! When we sent our application back in October we sent the tax ACCOUNT transcripts, so we got a RFE. But I read that you sent the tax return transcripts so that's not the issue.
I think the RFE they sent you might be a generic letter that they have when they see that the info on the tax return doesn't match what you wrote as your annual income. Even though it's really not much money, if you are $600 below the poverty line then you should either include assets or have a joibt sponsor.

OP, what's the point in posting here if you already talked to legal counselors?
What most people here are saying is that -judging by the way you presented your case- it doesn't seem to be fit to file for VAWA. People give advice based on the info you give them.
Also, why do you want to file for VAWA when on your first post you said that you have no intention of pursuing a GC? Am I missing something?

Are you the OP? There's 2 different user accounts here.
People can only respond based upon the information presented.
To which I would add, why would OP want to file a case when on the first post she says that she has no intention of pursuing a GC... Am I missing something?
