Hopefully you get the biometrics letter soon! Thank you for  taking the time to answer my questions I really appreciate it! I’m just waiting on my high school transcripts and my long form birth certificate (if it’s even available) then I’ll be able to start my AOS journey too 😊

Is the high school diploma needed if I have a university degree?

You can see how very much confused the March 2020 and late February 2020 filers were:

I-944 was very new at that time since AOS filers after Feb. 24, 2020 had to submit I-944.

Oh yes, definitely. I mean, it's still baffling...

Sorry to go a tad off topic but am I supposed to include high school diploma if I have higher education too? I wonder if I need to include (and translate) the entire addition to my diplomas (including names of courses I took...)?

Yes, you do. Pg 7 of i944 instructions state

“If you do not have a credit report or credit score, provide documentation that demonstrates that you do not have a credit report or score with a credit bureau. You may provide evidence of continued payment of bills if there is no credit report or credit score.”

You can obtain one from equifax, Experian, or transunion.

We used equifax. We called them explaining that husband does not have an ssn and need a letter stating he has no credit score or report for immigration purposes. They asked for a cover letter explaining what we need and 2 forms of identity (passport and Australian drivers license). A letter stating he does not have a credit report or score was received via USPS about 9 days later.

Thank you so much for this. I'll do the same!

It sucks, that’s the best way I can describe this form. What about the taxes are you needing to figure out? Is this also in regards to my question #1?

Yeah. Back in Serbia, taxes are automatically deducted from your paycheck, and I presume they appear on the paystub, but I'm not sure. Am I to obtain a translation for that too?

Also, I saw something on the forum that it's okay to send a note explaining we just arrived in the US so we can't have a credit score - is that enough? I'm slowly panicking.

Tax year 2019 taxes? Since you came in the year 2020 you shouldn't do tax year 2019 taxes. Your US citizen spouse should file tax year 2019 taxes as "Single" as they weren't married on Dec. 31, 2019.

Ah! So - I don't file mine from back home at all?

You'll have to wait for the EAD because your 76 days (90 days - 14 days of legal status required by the SSA) to apply for SSN with K-1 have passed. Unfortunately, SSA offices have been closed for in-person services.

Usually through spouse's employer-sponsored health plan. The ACA Exchanges are also an option. When they ask for SSN: "You should advise your coverage provider that you do not have an SSN or TIN and give them the date of birth for each covered individual." https://www.irs.gov/affordable-care-act/questions-and-answers-about-reporting-social-security-numbers-to-your-health-insurance-company

    Thanks for this.

Now to figure out taxes... The 944 is a nightmare. I am trying to get my diploma translated so I can get the equivalency...

I was following your question on that thread and was hoping someone would also answer. Did you fill yours out yet ? My thoughts sound the same as yours- leaving the tax year and return total blank or “n/a” and just attaching the foreign tax return.

The more I think about it, I believe we are to not put any number because it says  “Total income from tax return or Item 1 on W-2 “Wages, tips, $ other compensation” (U.S. dollars) (if applicable)”

To me, that’s describing a number from a US tax return, in which our case, the foreign partner does not have one.

Do you remember which one was at $80?

I’m also interested to hear about the $80 one. Furthermore, I can’t seem to figure out if I’m supposed to apply for the SSN and health insurance, and what do I put for taxes? :(

Thank you for reply, have you travelled from Schengen?  Its bank holiday today , I will give them call tomorrow.

No, I was lucky to not be on the list of "banned" countries. If it's any consolation, from my understanding, if your visa expires, you'd need to get another medical, but I'm not 100% sure if that's the only thing you'd need.

Hi there, is your husband travelled to USA by K1 visa? I've K1 visa and expires on 12 of May.  I'm not sure am i allowed to travel to USA from London? Thanks

Let me preface this by saying I'm not from the UK but I did manage to move to the US a few days ago. What I suggest is try to contact your embassy perhaps... I really hope you can move.

I'm in your position too, flights booked for 8th may, I'm post worried about losing my visa as it expires 21 May.

I've contacted the US embassy here in Amsterdam with no response as of yet.

I don't mind an extension of sorts, just don't want to lose the visa after going through the entire visa for the last 10 months.

Have you yet managed to contact anyone, if so do you know your next step??

My flight for Saturday just got cancelled (Turkish Airlines). My flight (original one) through Moscow got cancelled too, that was supposed to be on April 5th.

I really, really hope we can get extensions. This is not fair. If anyone knows what happens to K1 visa holders, please let the rest of us know.

Wallowing in spilt milk won't bring the interview to you any faster but this will:

I don't have the P3 instructions for your Embassy. If and when you get a copy if you could share with me then I would be able to share with others who come behind you.  Here are a few things that I did find the can be used as a primer.

From the Serbia Embassy's website: Interviews are by appointment only! You will receive an appointment when you have submitted your notice of readiness confirming that you have all the required paperwork in your possession. Embassy Belgrade will notify you of your interview date and time and paying the MRV application fee by an appointment letter.

    Required Documentation

You, the foreign-citizen fiancé(e), (and eligible children applying for K-2 visas) will be required to bring the following forms and documents to the visa interview:

    • Completed Form DS-160, Online Nonimmigrant Visa Application. You (and any eligible children applying for K-2 visas) must: (1) complete Form DS-160 and (2) print the DS-160 confirmation page to bring to your interview.
    • A passport valid for travel to the United States and with a validity date at least six months beyond your intended period of stay in the U.S. (unless country-specific agreements provide exemptions).
    • Divorce or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) for both you and the U.S. citizen sponsor
    • Police certificates from your present country of residence and all countries where you have lived for six months or more since age 16 (Police certificates are also required for accompanying children age 16 or older)
    • Medical examination (vaccinations are optional, see below)
    • Evidence of financial support (Form I-134, Affidavit of Support, may be requested)
    • Two (2) 2x2 photographs. See the required photo format explained in Photograph Requirements
    • Evidence of relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e)
    • Payment of fees, as explained below

Note: The consular officer may ask for additional information, such as photographs and other proof that the relationship with your U.S. citizen fiancé(e) is genuine. Documents in foreign languages, other than the language of the country in which the application takes place, should be translated. Applicants should take to the visa interview clear, legible photocopies of civil documents and translations, such as birth and divorce certificates. Original documents and translations will be returned.

Thank you. I've prepared everything that was in my power. I'm just waiting for the actual letter from the embassy so I can schedule the medical.

Just an update. My fiance(e) went in for her medical exam today and has to undergo the  dreaded sputum test. We are devastated about this, I can't imagine what my fiance(e) is going through right now, emotionally, but life goes on. 2 months is nothing compared to being in an LDR for more than 7 years. Weird thing is that, everyone in her group has to do sputum test. Coincidence or what?

May I ask what that test is? O.o

If you find anything not up to date or the information is wrong, please share your findings. Please compare the date of the P3 of mine with the date from your copy, once you receive yours from your embassy. Keep in mind that I try and be factual with my information, but I can't do it on my own and that's where you come in and can give back to the community those who come behind you. Without others ahead of you I would not be able to provide this to you.  I can only share factual information if folks like you continue to be my eyes and ears for your embassy. I wish you much success in your visa journey.

If you can share a copy of your P3 when you get yours it would help my library.

Thank you so much. I'll share mine for sure when I get it!

Okay so I just got approved.  This is like realtime information!

    NOA1:  July 19, 2019
    NOA2:  October 23, 2019
        1.  I checked https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.do last night and this morning.  Was still processing.  Same with my.uscis.gov.

        2.  I checked egov.uscis.gov at 4:30PM CST and APPROVED.

        3.  As of 5:00PM CST I have not gotten a text message or email.  I did get a text message for NOA1 but not an email for NOA1.

        4.  As of 5:00PM CST the my.uscis.gov site says I am still processing.

Man, what a messy system!  The systems are out of sync, no text, no email  Now I wait for my hardcopy which should arrive by November 8.

    Congrats!!!

Congrats!!!  What do you mean when you say you checked via "app"?  I'm July 19 for Cambodia!  I hope I find out soon! :) :) :)

I downloaded the Visa app and the first thing it did it said we got approved - then I actually checked the Case status online and the status changed to approved! I had checked just half an hour before that when it had still been just "received"!
