It is a given that the applicant attends the medical exam with the original international passport even if they would have to drop a copy of the biodata page to the panel physician. The embassy ought to have informed you of this and immediately initiate the process for pickup at the collection centre as soon as the initial email was sent. This ought to be the norm. Hopefully as we become better educated about the process, we will be able to demand they do the right thing rather than taking people through all the stress.

That’s going to be tough because that will mean traveling to get the passport and after the Medical exam is done traveling again to submit the passport. I really hope there’s another way around it that doesn’t entail going with my physical passport since the exam has been done before.

    hello VJ Fam!

So here is the catch. Just got back from redoing my medical exam.

Please if your intl.passport is with the embassy and you are to redo your medical exam kindly go to the embassy and request for it or a photocopy of the data page and must be stamped by a consulate in order for you to do the medical screening otherwise they won't be able to carry out the medical process for u.

I was at the medical screening exercise on Tuesday after waiting on a long queue and finally get to my turn the screening officer said to me that the photocopy of my intl.passport I brought doesn't carry any stamp from the embassy that I should go get it stamped. I had to leave immediately to the US embassy to get it stamped. To cut story short I met with the consulate he told me to just have my passport back to do the screening and submit the passport along with the documents they requested prior then gave me a form and checked the box that says international passport so that the DHL staff will allow me to submit along with the rest.

So please if you are redo your medical and you don't have your passport with u do what I have told you so u don't waste your time sitting at the medical facility to get screened.

Anyways I finally redo my exam. Thank you Jesus. It shall end in praise for us all. Amen🙏🙏🙏

Hope iom in Abuja doesn’t do this because that will mean going to Lagos to get stamp/collect passport.

Ah God I’m hopeful too ooo!! This is goodnews.. my interview was just two days to go before embassy shut down !! So hopefully they will contact us!! Please I have a question to ask; I applied for visa and was dq’d as a pregnant woman, now I have my baby, what are the requirements for my baby , will I submit them on NVC or what? Like his birth certificate..

you’ll have to do CRBA for the baby. That’s a different process handled by the American citizens services section of the embassy. You can do it in Abuja or Lagos. Although the embassy is not yet open for the service. https://ng.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/birth/

Yes I have been in AP after the interview. 27th of Feb 2020 I  drop off my passport nothing ever since till this very email. I was expecting them to say new medical report and police report so I'm not surprise.

Amen. We shall all celebrate in victory and be with our loved ones this Christmas in Jesus name. Amen

Amen! Was your police report up to a year?

They will probably handle all the canceled interviews and then the backlog. Now K1 has high priority, not spousal. I am so tired of 2020

No don’t get it wrong, spousal was made mission critical long before K1 was made priority. Spousal is definitely higher in priority than K1! The reason K1 was even made priority was because K1’s were being ignored and people wanted K1 to be made mission critical and a lawsuit was underway.

No, you take the affidavit of support form with you for your interview at the consulate.

For those of us in the K category,  this is a great news for us,  I honestly can't wait for everyone of us here including the k and spousal peeps to get over this phase and reunite with our loved ones

I’m glad this happened. For all those that joined the convo on #resumek1visa on Twitter look at what we achieved!!! A lawsuit was in the works so I guess they didn’t want things to get messy.

    STEP 2: open the embassyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!

👏👏👏I pray to the Lord Jesus Christ that this will help them to make the decision to reopen the embassy.

The gentleman that drove my husband to the embassy back in March 2020, called my husband the other day. He was telling my husband that he was hearing that the embassy should be opening up again. I pray to God that it happens. I want everyone to be with their loved ones. This is great news. I keep up with the news in Nigeria; but I haven't seen this about the schools yet. If I hear anything, I will make sure that it is factual before I post. 🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏

Thank you. Channels Television posted it on their twitter page. Gov Sanwo Olu announced this during a Covid 19 briefing on Saturday. He said tertiary institutions will reopen from the 14th of September. Fingers crossed for good new this new month! Amen!

Yeah my thought exactly. "requiring another medical exam". My passport has been there since Feb 28th 2020.

The part that you said you can even recite the  email got me laughing hard🤣🤣🤣.

Well the good thing is, the medical centers are open although we have to pay for it again but one less evil to deal with.
pls laugh it’s very necessary in these times. 🤣

Hey I saw something about a new policy on not requiring a visa again to enter Nigeria if you’re married to a Nigerian. I don’t know if it’s true. I’ll post it here.

This is easier to say than do although we try our best. Are you in the US already? All the rest of us can do is wait and pray. Your timeline moved pretty fast so congrats. I have not seen my husband in over a year now and we are struggling. Depression, and anxiety are really taking hold. I can see how some relationships don't make it. It is not for the faint hearted for sure. I sincerely pray for all of us going through this because it is so unfair to keep families separated.  God Bless all of us and let us hope good things come soon!

I totally agree with you. No I’m in Nigeria and my passport is stuck at the embassy. They may require another medical from me when they resume. I stalk their website and social media pages everyday, I’ve sent them multiple emails....I get the same response all the time that I can even recite it. I’m really sorry about your situation, we shall all come out victorious. Amen.
