You heard of the stories where people have been told that they wouldn't be eligible for a SSN or only a SSN where they're not allowed to work? Do you really trust them? Go there when they open again and return the second one. You already used the first one for everything so stick with it.

    Congrats!

FYI same thing happened to me with the ssn. You need to send it back to your local social security office with a letter explaining why And promise not to use that number and include photocopy of your combo card... they will in turn mail you a check list you agree too and sign and send back...

You should return it when the SSA offices open up again. This needs to get adressed.

Received my combo card on Tuesday. I also received a second SSN which I guess I’m just never going to use, going by previous posts guidance. Starting my new job June 1st!

So excited to finally feel like a normal functional human being again after so long!

No worries, “Delivery Attempted - No Access to Delivery Location” is USPS-lingo for "We didn't make it". In my case it was "No secure location" but I know for a fact they weren't even here.
    Congrats!

I also faxed in evidence for needing an expedition on the 5th and the 6th it showed new card being produced. Today it’s saying case was approved. I don’t know if the faxed paperwork helped but I’m happy that wait is over.

New cardbeing produced for me today too! However I did submit an expedite request on Monday because I have a job offer waiting. But my NOA date is late November too so seems like it would have been coming anyway. Congrats everyone!

I know it’s frustrating, and scary, but at least you have your EAD and can work. Many of us are less concerned with the GC and just need the EAD so we can start contributing to the household income.

For your I-765 it’s processed by your local USCIS office so that’s why there’s such a discrepancy in timelines. Some people who filed in November might ready have their green cards. I’m in SF so It could take well over a year for me to even get my interview. It’s nuts. However for EAD and AP for people that came over on the K1 they’re all processed in the Missouri office so it’s easier to predict when they’ll come through. I just wish mine would come through this month like other November filers!
  12. Thanks

Everything till 'ready to be scheduled for interview' is processed at the NBC. Only after that the case gets forwarded to the local office.

Aren’t all EAD and APs for those that came over on a K1 visa processed in the National Benefits centre in Missouri? Only the I-485 is processed in the local offices? I’m in SF and that’s my understanding!

Dervlyah got a reaction from DatMotorcycleRide in K1 visa- automatically entitled to work?
    Hi everyone.
What I am stating here is that technically the K1 visa entitles you to work according to both the SS website and USCIS. However you still have to apply to DHS to get them to issue you a card that states this fact. You don’t need them to approve it, the visa itself entitles you to work. Applying for the card only requests them to confirm this .  This process takes longer than the 90 days that the visa is valid for. So this is not really worth the time.

    Thanks for all your responses.

Hi! Thanks for the response. I think you are right. I do however disagree that we need to apply for approval, as we would apply for is “evidence of work authorization “. We are authorized to work As per the SS website and the USCIS website itself, just DHS needs to issue us a card to confirm this.

Overall it’s not worth the effort as it could take a while for them to issue the card And at that stage the 90 days are almost up.

My lawyer is quite competent. They got me this far. My question to them was if I could get my SSN.  As a result of this they discovered that K1 visa holders can work. However only for the 90 day duration.

We are applying for adjustment of status, work permit, travel permit and green card none the less.
