Thanks for the information, @mikebike and @Ksenia_O.  That sounds even better - much less hassle if I don't have to pick up and drop off my bags again.

Agreed - you don't pick them up.  What happens is that you have to wait for the bags to transfer from your Regina flight to your next flight.  Gist of it is that you scan your boarding pass which then checks to see if your bags have been transferred over to intl flight.  If yes, you're allowed to go into customs. If no, you wait in a room until they get transferred over.  Learned way too much about this last summer when the luggage system broke and hubby got stuck in Toronto overnight!

again, just sharing my story because I asked on this site back in March how I could get my family together as fast as possible I got a lot of sorry not possible, just wait it out like everyone else - you'll be together in 12-15 months.  Nobody once said oh he had a job offer, you can file dcf and get there in 2 months.  Guess I shouldn't have bothered posting my story thinking it could actually provide some encouragement for others in a similar situation.

Wow, thanks for sharing.  I had a new job offer last year and no one, not even a lawyer we consulted told us of that option.  We finally have our interview in two weeks after originally filing in April 2018.  I do hope your posting will help others!

Hi!  Can you please add me to the group?  I applied for CR1 for my husband and we became documentarily qualified on June 21.  We still haven't heard back regarding our interview date.  Thank you!

Hi. We've applied for an IR1/CR1 visa and were DQ on Sept 3. We're still anxiously awaiting our interview date and it sounds like the embassy has gotten really backed up over the summer - can someone please add me to the IR1/CR1 group. Have any new interviews been announced recently?

Haven't seen anything for spouses since Mid-Sept.  Hoping we will see something next week!  Added you to the group

Would someone be able to add me to the group for the IR-1/CR-1 applicants? Just received my CC today, but from browsing this thread it seems that we may be waiting for a while to receive a date.

    Yep, will do that

    Hi

My wife and I got married in the USA in 2015. Right after we moved to Canada where I am from. She has her Canadian permanent residency and now we have a beautiful 1 year old daughter.  She has a full time job and her company has a large presence in California and have offered her a very good job as she has US citizenship.

My question is can I apply for my green card from Canada and for my daughters dual citizenship while we are still working here in Canada? We really don’t want to make the move without myself being able to work.  Luckily her company will keep the offer if we can do this.

We filed our I-130 while living in Calgary before I moved down.  We are now DQ at NVC, but still haven't received interview letter for Montreal.  Process is more like 16-20 months right now, sad to say.

Can you try to get a visa another way (i.e. through employment) so that you can move down and then file adjustment of status?

If you want to avoid separation, it may be best to consult an immigration attorney because they may have other ideas for you.

    Hi,

I just got approved for my greencard through aos and expect to receive it in a few days. I plan to drive to my hometown in Canada a few weeks after I get the card to see family/friends for the first time since the process. I will also be picking up my dog and we will drive back home to the US with her. I am a Canadian citizen.

What kinds of documents do I need for my dog? Is a general vaccination sheet okay? She is an older dog but in general good health. A bit nervous to use my greencard for the first time, but excited!

    Thank you

I've gone both ways with my pups.  What is required to cross the border is proof of rabies vaccination.  They also recommend getting an international health certificate filled out at the vet.

I invited you to the group chat - feel free to accept to see how things are moving along.

We just received our Case Complete on Sept 9th for my CR-1 visa. And now am waiting to get our interview date scheduled at the US Embassy in Montreal.

What do I need to bring to the Interview? The travel.state.gov website says to bring originals of all civil documents, medical exam results, and tax receipts/W2s.

But I’ve read in some forums that people have also brought proof of bonafide marriage (photos, text message records, etc.) Do I need to bring all this? Didn’t we prove our marriage at the I-130 step of this process?

    2.  It says on visa journey that for CR-1/IR-1 route takes 13 months on average but why would it take this long and does it usually? We are trying to find the right time to file so that I can be there next year (2020) by the end of the year.

FYI - definitely taking longer right now.  We are at 16 months and counting in the process.  Good luck to you.
