Message boards a re a funny thing, in most cases, they are stacked with a certain type of person, thats boring for me.
This board works for me because it has a variety of people who are a good cross section.
Also the speed of this board works, in that it is not too fast or slow.
Also there are a lot of interesting people here (including you) who I appreciate even if we disagree.

But the "controlling one's body" meme is #######. That is not the reason why abortion should be legal. As a matter of fact I think that common line of reasoning is counterproductive and feeds some of the opposition. Even people that support abortion have to realize that we are talking about two (at least potential) lives, here. It is selfish to ignore that and solely focus on the mother. Also: the issue is NOT primarily about women's rights. It is about what is right for society.

Libs generally need a leader they can be guided by. No matter what their leader says they will FOLLOW! Why, you might ask? Because they usually have no mind or the ability to think on their own. They generally sniff each others a$$ and then abide by what is said to them. Their caring tolerance and love for the human race usually comes via what is told to them via the news or some other vehicle. They love who agrees and hate who disagrees. Another failed venture is, believing we can solve every problem....that no child will feel the brunt of it's parents irresponsibility. THIS more than anything has taken more lives down into the sewer than any other notion.

By reducing discipline of minorities their educational opportunities are further destroyed, their future employment opportunities are reduced to "mcJobs" which cannot possibly ever pay them as much as they can receive in welfarte benefits and their dependence on government and votes for Democrats are assured. It is another step by Obama to reduce opportunities for minorities...which have declined in every economic category since he took office.

Well, I'm plumb proud of you for staying so up to date. Some people have more of a life than just hanging out on here all the time, so I thought I'd share it.

The only quarrel I have with your reasoning on this issue is that you take the principle of "no one has the right to control my body" beyond the bounds of reason.
If ever there were an exception to that rule (and there are several) .... a women being pregnant would have to be it, because in this instance, it is not her body alone we are considering.
And of course the question is -How much consideration do we give the child within her?
Reasonable people have concluded, the farther along in development the child is, the greater the weight shifts from the Mothers desire .....over to the protection of the unborn.
Since the vast majority of pregnancies are not desperate cases, in fact, in almost all cases they are

For most of us it is difficult to pin point the moment the child should have rights, (Even the Supreme court considered a womens right diminished in the third term)
yet interestingly enough we live in a country which afford the worst rapist or murderer every "presumption of innocence" so as not to wrongly condemn a person to incarceration unjustly,
I would hope we would be consistent and grant the unborn also the presumption of the right to live.
Especially in the vast number of cases where there is not compelling reason at all to kill the healthy unborn.
I think reasonable people can agree, there are some cases in which abortion might be the only humane option but these cases are few compared to those simply done for reasons of convenience.
To claim it is "my body my choice" is like me claiming I can do what I want my car, irregardless of the dog or child that might be inside of it.
