i received an email today 9/19/2019 stating that my petition was approved, I also checked the case tracker app and it said approved as well. I was so nervous for an RFE do to missing a check box that asked if I am Hispanic or not, but I selected my nationality on the next question * 🤯 I don’t know how I missed it*
Sent Petition: June 14
NOA1: June 19
NOA2: September 19

I guess I should be ready for an RFE. I forgot to check the block that asked if I’m Hispanic or not FML☹️☹️

It was regarding my “criminal past” (2c) I forgot the section number but all I had to do was check “no” . I went over the form 3 times! Can’t believe I missed it. But one step closer!! 😊
I just realized that I didn’t check the block that asked if I’m Hispanic or Not in part 4😒🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. I chose my ethnicity though😫😫😫😫

Thank you everyone! My RFE came in yesterday! I forgot to check ONE tiny box 😑
It should be on its way soon as it is morning here in California. Now another wait...
That’s a bummer. Which box was it? Someone else recently said the same thing.

Has a September NOA2 to NVC thread been created yet? I haven’t received my NOA2 as of yet, but I figured I would attempt to join the September NOA2 to NVC thread now.

@Islandgirl93 I’m currently Active Duty and as @Londonergirl stated JAG is no help. They can barely assist with regular state law, and will be little to no help with immigration law. The military doesn’t provide any assistance to the member in regards to immigration issues. You can contact the base ARMY Community Service (ACS) office for spousal support (not in regard to financial, but information and guidance). They offer different information assistance. Some ACS offices have foreign spouses that work there and may be of tremendous help.

My divorce was finalised just a couple of weeks before we filed the i-129F. I consulted this with an immigration lawyer and were told that as long as the divorce is final BEFORE filing the petition, it should be no problem. The petition was approved, but I have still been waiting for my interview, so the lawyer's advice has yet to be proven right. However, I don't feel like it should turn out to be a problem.
Good luck with yours!
Thank you. Good luck with yours as well.

Pay ZERO attention to any of the 90 Day Fiancé shows in regards to the immigration process. The only accurate information they have ever given is on the K1 you need to be married within 90 days. It's a great show for entertainment purposes but from someone that has been through the immigration period twice it is completely inaccurate and just edited and changed to entice viewers.
Oh yeah I’m fully aware. It’s very entertaining and made me a little curious/slightly worried.

Then your local office is not Dallas Tx and your profile is wrong.
Dully noted. I misunderstood the location for where I initially sent my package, not the USCIS office that I would go through later on during the immigration process.

I wouldn't worry about it at all. I was married to a US citizen (K1 Visa process) and we divorced after 2 years and I went back to the UK. I redid the K1 process (with my now 2nd husband) about 6 months after returning back to the UK and about 4 months after my divorce was finalized. Basically if I didn't get a hard time in my interview then I don't think you will 😃
😊 thanks. I was worried due to the fact that’s my fiancé maybe going to the interview a lone and I was worried about them grilling her with questions about it.

not to mention all the people who just couldn't be bothered with the paperwork.
Smh the process sucks, especially depending on the state that you file for divorce in.

Others have been asked about it in the interview but I haven't seen anyone denied for a recent divorce. As long as you are free to marry when you petition you should be fine.
That’s what I figured, but was still a little nervous about it.

Lol my bad. Thanks for the response

@Brittani Ah really? That’s what I was thinking and I initially wasn’t worried until I started bing watching 90day Fiancé: Happily Ever After on TLC😂😂. Thanks for the reassurance.
@geowrian I’m from/live in Virginia, but my divorce was finalized in South Carolina. No waiting period for it to be finalized. According to the USICS instructions, I was suppose to send my petition to the Dallas Lockbox, which was then sent to California for processing.

Hello VJ Family,
I’ve found some similar threads relating to my question, but the most recent one is from 2016. I was separated since September 2015 and wasnt eligible to file for divorce until September 2016 due to the state 1 year required separation due to having a child.I was notified in September 2016 that I would be going overseas (Active Duty) in January 2017 which is where I met my Fiancé & have been together since March 2017. To make a long story short, I’m worried about during the interview, they may question why my divorce took so long (due to the other party not cooperating AT ALL to draft an agreement since 2015 and drag it out for her own benefit and to remain under my insurance) and I proposed to my fiancé prior to my divorce being finalized. Should I give my fiancé all of the motions from the court stating that I have been actively pursuing a divorce? Please see below timeline
Originally Married: June 2012
Separated: September 2015
Eligible to file for divorce: September 2016
Moved overseas: January 2017
Met Fiancé: March 2017
Divorced filed with court: December 2017
Returned back to America: February 2018
Engaged to Fiancé: December 2018
Final Divorce Hearing: April 2019
Judge Signed Decree: May 2019
K-1 VISA Filed and NOA1 received: June 2019

I don’t personal experience, but I do know a few people that have Korean spouses and were stationed in Korea while I was stationed there as well. I believe that as long as the Korean spouse has a valid passport with the proper visa stamp to enter and re enter American and a dependent military ID, they’ll be fine. They wouldn’t need a visa stamp for Korea due to being a citizen, unlike American dependents that are in Korea.
