I received the confirmation from the US embassy within 3 days - however, since you sent it just before the New Year, I would expect it takesa few extra days.

Hi everybody, happy new year! Some questions:
I sent the DS160-confirmation and interview request-form to the consulate on december 31. How long does it usually take for the interview letter/email? And when and how do I pay for the visa?
My petition is valid until the 26th of january, is it wise to email the consulate to extend the validity?

It took about a month and a half. NVC processes your packet and when it’s ready they ship it. But they ship packets every other week. So if they have your packet ready it can still take 2 weeks to ship. Once it ships it took about 2 more weeks for the consulate to notify us they received it. 

Today I had my medical for the purpose od K-1 visa in Amsterdam. There’s only one appointed GP’s office in the Netherlands for this purpose - Dr Schulte sr assisted by his wife and their son Dr Schulte.    I was able to schedule an appointment within 2 weeks which I thought was pretty quick. Since my visa interview was not scheduled at that time yet, the GP’s assistant advised me to make sure my interview will take place at least 10 days after the medical.
 
The doctor’s office is located one block away from the US Consulate General in Amsterdam, about a 5-minute walk from the tram station Museumplein. 
 
My appointment was scheduled for 11:30 but I arrived early, at about 10:20 and was told I could come in already. After a 10min wait chatting with 3 other visa applicants in the waiting room, the young dr.Schulte took my blood (just 1 vial for syphillis test). 
My passport was checked and then it was my turn to fill in 3 or 4 forms (my name, DOB, address, passport nr and NVC case nr - I already had those numbers memorised by now😜), provide 4 US passport-size photos and return this to the assistant. I got a plastic container to provide a urine sample (tested for drugs).
 
Considering I was 4th in line, the assistant advised me to go the x-ray clinic first, so I didn’t have to just sit there waiting doing nothing. It’s a 15-min walk to the clinic, so I was back at the GP’s in about 45 minutes. 
Dr. Schulte discussed my health and history with me, then took my blood pressure and pulse, weighed me and checked my height (glad my BMI was fine, I wondered if they’re gonna follow my BMI when I’m in the US to see what American diet does to my body😜), auscultated my lungs and heart. 
Finally I got 2 vaccination shots, one in each arm. 
Then he explained to me that my results will be evaluated and a report will be sent to the US Consulate in about a week. I paid 210 euro for the examination + 75 euro for 2 vaccine shots (this has to be paid in cash). At the clinic I was charged 60 euro for the chest x-ray. 
 
I was done in 2 hours, the Schulte family were kind, friendly and helpful, so overall a good experience.

Wat betreft consulaat haha is best klein, oud en stoffig maar kan je vertellen kan echt erger. Ik vond ze best toegankelijk en vriendelijk.

Nou, ik heb nu ook mijn paspoort en documenten weer. Mikropakket had het pakket vorige week al maar die beweren dat mijn adres niet bestaat. Dus kreeg ik gisteren een telefoontje dst ik het bij het consulaat kon oppikken. Dus vandaag in de hitte maar snel gedaan. Blij dat dit er nu op zit. Deze week de laatste dingen regelen en dan de dagen aftellen tot volgende week vrijdag.

Hahah wat een vreemde opmerking over je kinderen. En dat in cash betalen...eerlijk vond ik ook echt super ghetto. Voelde gewoon beetje fout. Het is echt dat ze super vriendelijk waren anders had ik echt gedacht dat het de onderwereld was hahah.

Ik woon dichtbij. Maar met de trein en tram is prima te doen. Gewoon op tijd vertrekken en je hebt al minder stress. Van medical naar x-ray clinic is op loopafstand. Kan zijn dat ze je in de tussentijd daarheen sturen om de xray te doen en dan terug te komen. Het is met Google maps alsmaar rechtdoor. 

Thanks for the input everyone, much appreciated. I did actually manage to confirm with Dr. Cheema's office that indeed a skin test should not be required only the chest x-ray.   

I asked a doctor and she told me it’s oke. I have had a bcg shot to. It’s not in my vaccination book but my scar is enough prove I guess. And I have my medical tomorrow. 

Thank de tip, heb ook een afspraak gemaakt voor volgende week. Papieren zijn woensdag middag laat in de brievenbusbus bezorgd dus het zal wel ff duren voor ik een mailtje van ze krijg om een afspraak in te plannen. Toen ik vanmorgen mailde hadden ze nog niks.
