No matter what event may come up in your life, no matter what the outcome may be, the only thing you have to worry about is your response. You are in control of your own destiny. The only way you will ever find out if you've made the right decision, is to take a chance. And if not, change your response again. Starting anything new is scary, but you have to have in mind, it's for the best...go after what you want, and don't settle for less.

I am a USC and 31 years old. I just enrolled to go back to school, and actually have my first final exam this Thursday!! I've went back to get my associates degree in Criminal Justice. If I can recall right, as long as you have your transcripts of grades and attendance from your home country, your credits should be allowed to be transferred over. You may want to contact the college you attended in your home country and request the transcripts...then I would just call up the college here you are looking to attend and inquire as well. It doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!

I had worked for a bank for the past 5 years. As with any bank account, you must read the fine print. Many want to charge hidden fees...I'm not sure what banks are in your area, but as some of the previous posters have stated, you CAN get free checks...it all depends on the bank, and the type of account you have. Wells Fargo, Citibank, US Bank, Fifth Third, National City...all of those are good banks to do buisness with for a standard checking account....Best thing to do is shop around. If you don't like what they offer, you don't have to accept that, and simply leave and go to the bank that does have what you want.

Regarding those that posted cheating is cultural:

I think the person immigrating to the United States needs to be aware of our cultures and laws....the fact that cheating and adultry is not tolerated here, nor is it looked upon as being someone that is well off (as in some cultures). A person that has committed adultery, or one that wants many wives (which is VERY much illegal here) is just asking for problems with the USC spouse....and the judicial system. (not to mention possibly getting deported back to their own country)

I totally agree with you that you should not support her. And for her to want to leave Texas and go to Florida, says in my mind there's been an alterior motive all along. I would contact USCIS not to mention a lawyer, and ask them which route would be best for you to go. There's no sense in you being responsible for her if there's no relationship, let alone her planning on leaving the state. I would not just fork over the money either.

We are California filers, and still waiting here. ...but...there are several that have their NOA1 dates before us, as I told Pete, we must wait in line (My NOA1 date is April 18th..we've passed the 100 day mark)

I've just read in the May filings that someone there has gotten their NOA2 already! ((insert kicking and pounding on floor emoticon here)) Where the heck is the rest of ours?????

It's VSC, which should really have their own K-1 progress forum. There are 3 non-VSC May filers with NOA2's according to the immigration timelines. One sent the app in January, one on March 1st, and one received expedited processing. Don't worry, they haven't skipped us.

That's a typical question they ask for any government job...they want to know at anytime during your life if you have done drugs. My mom admitted to me to trying "pot" but...she didn't like it..and isn't a smoker. (I was still gobsmacked at that...hehe) But still..even in my application I just filled out...it asked that..and I didn't lie...Yes, I've tried it...but haven't touched the stuff since 1995. (I'm a USC) ..I know Pete has...It doesn't bother me. What would bother me is if my fiance would still be on drugs and lying about it.

You shouldn't be so hard on him for telling the truth tho.
