Patiently waiting for the never-coming rescheduled notice for my N400 interview

When was your original interview date?

Impatiently waiting for interview to be scheduled. Makes me wonder if it is much easier to move to another state. Anyone has experience in how much time it takes for the file to move to new USCIS office?

    When was your originate date?

Received 2 emails today - once saying passport was approved & the other saying it was shipped! So that's good news. I applied March 20.

One detail: the USPS express mail tracking number in the email is wrong - it links to something that was delivered to California in 2018! So hopefully that doesn't become an issue....

The issue with the tracking number self-corrected. It now says the item will be delivered 6/26 (I had paid for the express delivery service). We shall see!

My passport application status changed to "approved" a few days ago and I am expecting delivery to my house tomorrow. I applied on March 10, 2020 at USPS and opted for regular delivery (not expedited). Same for my husband. However, applied for my minor child at the same time and that is still pending. My child would be deriving citizenship from us, maybe thats why it is taking longer? Ours is a pretty normal case.

I got the messages today! Applied March 20. So they are moving again finally....

Update - I got a phone call today from USCIS and they rescheduled my oath ceremony (my cancelled oath was March 27th) to June 30th at the Federal Plaza. They told me to come wearing a mask, no guests allowed, bring green card and bring my own pen. The call was from a "no caller id" and she said that they are scheduling only 10 people at a time for the oath ceremony. She told me I should come even if I don't get the notice in the mail because it might take some time for me to receive it by mail. My USCIS account now shows that new oath ceremony was scheduled! Very happy to see that there is progress in NYC now.

Good to hear. Mine happened on 3/13 which was literally the last ceremonies were held in NYC. Seems like so much has happened since then!

i was hoping this May 1 update would be different since the trump administration wants everyone back to work and we’re talking about federal workers, this makes no sense but oh well, they do have enough staff to keep cashing our checks 🤷🏽‍♂️ lol

Indeed, it's completely inconsistent (not surprising).

One the one hand he isn't even talking about it anymore (like there is no pandemic), and yet these govt departments are still operating as though we are in the peak of the pandemic.

Considering the State Department is processing visas at the NVC, and quite rapidly as some have reported, it seems likely that passport application processing is stopped to discourage people from traveling.

They list conflicting reasons on the website.

First they say its because people shouldn't be traveling.

Then they say it's because of limited staff.

    So it's hard to know.

Because of public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, we have extremely limited U.S. passport operations.

Because we have limited staff due to COVID-19, if you applied on or before March 19, you will experience significant delays of several months to receive your passport and the return of your citizenship evidence documents. If you received a letter from us requesting additional information to process your passport application, you may mail your response to the address in the letter. Expect significant processing delays.

Im on my 9th week Now.... I was not in the hurry either but.... I got laid off from on of my jobs and scares me to apply to a new one and ask get refused For not showing my proof of citizenship 😞 e-verify requires it  that’s why I’m struggling right now Hopefully we hear something soon

Does showing a copy of your naturalization certificate count? Or they need to see the original document?

I hadn't really thought of the I-9/E-verify situation for anyone trying to get a new job post-citizenship but I see it could be a problem now if one doesn't have a passport...

    @N400NYC

I had my oath on 3/11 and from the Oath I went straight to a USPS without an appointment. At first they said they can't do anything and I told them...Ma'am there is no one here, would you be kind to help me out?

So they did help me out, took a picture that was in my opinion really bad, the background was yellowish and I was 1000% sure they will reject it. IT WAS NOT REJECTED.

I don't have any travel plans but I paid for expedite just because I was not at peace with not having my Naturalization Certificate in hand.

The longer I don't have it, the higher the chances of being misplaced. This was my logic.

Literally dodge the bullet with both my Oath and with my Passport.

    See below my timeline.

I hope all of you get it fast and without issues.

    Stay safe!

    God Bless you all.

I dodged the first one! But the second one hit me!

I following his policy pretty close and this is the first time I've seen the potential to separate US Citizen's from wives, husbands, and children.

Right, because he hasn't been separating families at all prior to now. I must conclude you haven't been following things too closely....

Every single travel ban, immigration change, border closure etc etc has caused separations between US citizens and non-citizen family members & relatives.

Trump is expected to announce a pause in issuing green cards, but backed off plans to also halt guest worker programs. The president is expected on Tuesday evening to announce a temporary pause in the issuance of most green cards, a move that would close the United States off to tens of thousands of people seeking to join family members or accept employment during the crisis, a person familiar with the president’s plans said.

Instead, the executive order — which Mr. Trump is expected to announce during the task force briefing on Tuesday — will focus on preventing people from obtaining permission to live and work in the United States.

Last year, about one million people were granted green cards, though the order will not bar all of them. American citizens seeking to bring their children or spouses to the United States would still be allowed to do so, the person said.

But the path to winning permanent legal status in the United States would be blocked for most other foreigners, including the relatives of current green card holders and those seeking green cards based on a job offer, the person said.

No mention of "fiances" of US citizens anywhere so far in these reports..."spouses" usually always means legally married.

We had been saving up to pay for the I-130 packet fees, and were just about ready to file at last when everything went effectively on pause... This is so disheartening to hear.

Even if nothing is being processed right now, should we attempt to send our packet? I just want my husband here with me, now more than ever and feel like there's no end in sight. 😢

I hear you. I had the I-129F on the computer screen (completing it) when last night's fiasco was happening.

If K-1 is not excluded, there is going to be a tidal wave of CR-1 applications heading towards a process which already takes longer than the fiance option as many will look to secure their marriage even off-shore in case anything like this happens again.

I can definitely see that happening. But in the short-term, meeting up to spend time together anywhere in the world is challenging.
