    I got cancellation mail...😐😪

Was your interview supposed to be this month or in May? Can you please post what email said.

I am so sorry this is happening to you all! My husband was 1 month away from getting IL, to have an actual interview date canceled would be devastating, can’t imagine how y’all are feeling😥

    Very Very IMP

Just received this message due to increase in cases.

Effective immediately, the U.S. Consulate General in Mumbai, India will provide only essential services to U.S. citizens and limited, emergency visa services until further notice to curb the second wave of the spread of COVID-19 and its variants. Accordingly, some scheduled visa (immigrant and non-immigrant) appointments will be cancelled, and applicants will be notified of the appointment cancellations directly by email. Applicants will need to reschedule their canceled appointments for a later date.

Oh no!! So sick of this!!😡

That makes me feel better about my plans. And he says it's cold in India  when it's like 60 there so I know MN will be miserable! He will be coming at a good time though, because we have the Summer Humidity (that I hate.) But he should love! Then he will have time to acclimate a little to the cold.

The right welcoming depends on what sorta lifestyle your man is used to and what sorta life you have. Sidd and I are both very simple, non materialistic people so what makes him happy won’t work for everyone. Hes made it clear to me that he wants to live, dress and eat the way my daughter and I do, he doesn’t want us changing or trying to Indian-ise anything for him so that’s my plan until he starts to miss things about India. For your spouse, airport Big Macs & cheese sandwiches while laying on the ground could be the wrong way to welcome your husband lol so thats why it’s wonderful that you already know what makes your husband feel loved and respected, you’re further ahead than a lot of couples are and as long as you keep putting what you know about your man ahead of what you’d want, you will give him the absolutely perfect welcome home♥️
Are you going to interview with him? How far along are you guys in the process? We got DQed Dec 15th so we may be getting our interview letter next month🤞🏼🤞🏼

My hubby is also Indian and we will be living in MN so we'll  be super close to you guys! I know he doesn't  want a welcome party cause he's super introverted. I think that's why I've been drawing a blank cause I know what I would want if i was moving but some people are different! His love languages are quaility time and physical touch so I'm thinking a night in, candles, cakes, flowers, a banner, and champagne. He is super particular about what he wears and uses so I will take him shopping once he is here. Then I think maybe set up for romantic time!

Im so happy that you know about love languages!!!! It’s easy to see how selfless of a love you have for your hubby, makes my heart happy for you♥️. Sidd’s love languages are the same as your husbands are so I read him ur ideas of how to welcome your husband. He thought most of the men he knows would love that sorta welcome!

Depending on the weather, after we get back from India, I plan on making up sandwiches & simple foods so we can have a picnic under the stars and then I’ll get a fire going for us to sit around so he can listen to the quiet. The pollution in India hides the stars & quiet isn’t something you get in Mumbai. I live in the country in middle of nowhere so long as weather cooperates, stars & quiet are something I can give him

What does your husband think about the temperatures he’s gonna be moving to? MN has so many gorgeous lakes and off the beaten path gems that you can show him once he’s settled, he’s blessed to get to live in such a beautiful state!!

Which is why you're not beefing and sound totally uncowed about the Big Mac situation.

We had smoked brisket for Easter and our sirloin you can cut with a butter knife, the only time I ever eat McDonald’s is when Im at the airport after getting back from spending a month in India without beef😂

My husband sees all the good food we eat here, I carry his pixelated head around every day, I’m fairly confident he’ll feel the same way about McDonald’s as I do in no time lol.
I’m wore out from that 20 hour flight home & my husband never had flown before so im pretty sure we’ll both be perfectly fine with Ohare airport feeding him his welcome to US meal lol

  6. This is such a wonderful topic, thank you OP for this!!! My hubby is coming from India and I’ll be over there for his interview, I refuse to leave him there again, it’s time for him to suffer through that 20 hour flight with me😂

I live in WI which is gonna be quite the temperature shock so I’ve been on eBay or similar sites looking for good deals for clothes for him, it’s been really fun for us to do this cuz it feels like we are at least doing things to work towards our future while we wait for our interview. My hubby’s pixelated head goes with me everywhere and out of everything he’s seen, what he’s most looking forward to is trying beef so im welcoming him to America by treating him to an overpriced McDonalds Big Mac meal at the airport😂. My husband is not a typical Indian in a lot of ways and one of those ways is that he hates spicy and Indian food so American food, particularly beef, is my welcome gift for him😂.

We’ve been doing as much as we can to get things done before he arrives, he’s only wanting to bring a suitcase of stuff with him so I’m trying to get all the belongings he’ll need as I can afford it.

My folks and brother are anxious to meet my hubby in person so they’ll probably pick us up from airport if it ain’t chore time (they’re dairy farmers) and I’d bet my daughter will have some sorta welcome home sign made for him. My daughter loves my husband and he loves her, we’re the only family he has, so the 3 of us just being together again will be the best welcome for him♥️

Once his belly is full and my daughter and him have gotten their fill of each other, lots of sex😂

keep a lookout it should be be between the 5th and 16th of April, I am guessing it will be by the end of next week, this is based on previous interview emails reported on this discussion.  I am hoping we receive them next week, I am kind of nervous due increase of covid cases in Maharashtra.  Don't want them to go back to a month long lockdown.

Sorry this is sorta off topic. My hubby hasn’t seen anything bout new restrictions for us US spouses entering Mumbai, does anyone know if they’re making us US spouses quarantine when we come there? We were DQed in December so at the current schedule we should be getting interview in June🤞🏼. Like most of you, we’re so sick of these lockdowns and forced quarantines.

No. They just sent these papers when they returned other documents in a packet

I would maybe try posting this question in the 221 thread, you probably would get more help. My hubby & I haven’t had our interview yet so haven’t had the joy🙄 of getting these papers yet. Seems like they are giving most people 221s at Mumbai which after all the stupid lockdowns keeping us couples apart for so long, giving 221 slips just seems cruel.

  9. Since being DQed my hubby & I have had some opportunities to get each other’s names on insurance accounts and make each other beneficiaries of each other’s finances. Should we upload these documents to NVC even though already DQed or just bring with us to interview? Our interview hasn’t been scheduled yet.
    Thanks!

Yeah she resides in Wisconsin and we live in india.

Hey, another Wisconsinite, how awesome!! I’m the USC wife in WI as well, don’t come across many of you Indians willing to put up with our weather here lol.

As for your question, yep, she can go to My Vote WI and request an absentee ballot. The mail has gotten ridiculously slow here so I’d recommend she request it now lol.

    Congratulations first of all.

You can update the following file if you see required:

Note: currently people with dq April are getting interviewed. With vaccine and interview letter being sent to people. December DQ doesn't seem that far as things are moving in positive direction. All the best.

Thanks! I added our case to the spreadsheet. Merry Christmas!

This is really weird, if this is a rule they will have it in some documents. Maybe some people here there is from India will know better.

I recommend you to call the some Consulate or Embassy from India here in the US and ask for it. Sounds really weird this new "rule"

Well it wasn’t a big deal to get my name in his passport, he planned on doing it but just kept on putting it off. I just wanted to let others know that it’s something they may wanna do before go for the PCC to save themselves some time cuz there’s a chance it may be required now.

  13. 20 minutes ago, Paula&Johnny said:

    Who told him that?

Do you have a document asking him this?

Nope, no document. The people at the passport office told him that there was some new rule that was passed in September that required it. Maybe they were just giving him the run around but he was told that same thing by 2 different people on different trips to that office. They wouldn’t touch his PCC app till my name was in his passport. They held the PCC payment he made and applied it to his rescheduled appointment.

  14. Just a few suggestions from our progress in this journey.

    1. My husband was told he needed to add my name to his passport, I’m the USC, before he could get PCC for NVC. He spent a month running around doing everything they wanted him to do so if you’re the man in India and haven’t added your wife’s name, may want to do it right after you get married cuz passport office said they are requiring it now to process the visa PCC.

    2. My husband went to the doctor and got a checkup which included a TB skin test and chest X-ray. We just got DQed so we’ll have a wait yet before his interview. A good idea is to go get checked for TB now, that way if you find out you’re a carrier you can treated BEFORE your interview medical.

There are many things we can be doing while we wait to prepare for our future and to speed up the process. It makes the waiting much easier cuz you feel like you’re doing something and to not have to worry about a positive tb test when so close to the finish line is one less stress you gotta have.
    God Bless and Merry Christmas!
