thanks for the link. some people says one must obtain it from the passport office. im in a confuse state of mind.

    1) You do have to obtain it from the passport office. Click the link and follow the guidelines https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/pccOnlineApp . You have to pay the fee online and set up an appointment.

    2) You can do the medical in any panel hospital whether it's Delhi, Mumbai or any other state.

The status on us travel docs has changed. Thanks. There is not a tracking yet but they said call back in the morning.

Amazing! Once you get the tracking number, you'll be able to track it on the Bluedart website. I lived in Kolkata for several years. I know how hard it can be to get things delivered there sometimes.

To be honest, we opted for blue dart delivery, and would like to be able to track it to make sure they find his home. Some of the alleys in kolkata are hard to find. I was expecting it would change from issued to say something about the courier.

It stays issued on ceac. Move over to http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ check the passport delivery status there. When it says "Passport has been received from consular section and is being prepared for dispatch" call them up. Their numbers are +91 120 4844644 or +91 40 46258222. Ask for the Bluedart tracking number. That's how I got mine.

Oh.. I am from India and my husband is American born as well. Your post has now made me worried as even we got married just withing 4 months of knowing each other. And why officer won't conduct second interview?? Does it mean that they only need additional documents?? And what documents were missing from your side??

Don't worry! If asked why you married within 4 months of knowing each other, tell them the reason why. India is a high fraud country and scrutiny is normal.  All you can do is be confident and truthful. Good Luck! In my case he wanted to look through my album and some chats. I only took 6 pages of chat records. And he also kept my photo album which was really big so I couldn't pass it through the interviewing window. My interview was on the 16th of May and I recieved the letter requesting for my passport along with documents that I submitted on the 18th.

Yea, VFS office. They asked her my name and how we met. Then he asked how I agreed to a marriage so quickly. They requested that we submit documents showing on-going communication before and after the marriage (which she had with her already). The one positive is that the VFS office is close to her house and they said she would not need to return for a 2nd interview. Everything can be completed from the VFS office.

Alright! They barely keep documents over the counter during the interview. I consider myself lucky that they kept my documents during the interview. Submit what they ask and wait to hear back. Keep tracking the status on CEAC. Good Luck!

Thanks for the info. They returned her passport and said something along the lines of the local office taking it once the documents are submitted.

At this point, all you can do is submit the requested documents. If they are satisfied with what you submit, your wife will definitely get approved. They asked her to drop the requested documents at a VFS office right?

What sort of questions were asked at the interview? And what documents did they request to be submitted?

Do you really think it will take months? She was told to submit the additional documents at a local office. They would then take her passport and issue the visa upon approval. The officer kept all of the official documents.

Did he keep her passport or return it?

I went through the same. I was told he will approve me after looking through my photo album and chats. And that I will have to wait for only 1-2 weeks. Luckily, they requested my passport back a day after my interview. We have been legally married for almost 4 years, known each other for 5 and a half years, different religions, different cultures. My husband has travelled to India 18 times throughout our relationship and we only had a court marriage.

All you can do now is submit the requested documents and keep checking CEAC for the current status. If they get what they want and you are able to overcome their doubts they will definitely approve it. Unfortunately, AP has no timeline. Some are approved sooner than others. Some have to wait months and even years.

The stamp in your passport should act as a green card while you are waiting for the card itself.

Not sure about SSN. Maybe somebody else can help you with that.

I know that the stamp works as a green card until I get the physical card. I just wanted to know how long it usually takes to get it. Thank you for your response! I appreciate it.

The earliest I've seen the GC arrived is about 3 weeks after entry. Normally, 4- 6 weeks for the green card. Could be a couple months.

The guy at my local SSA office told me that it's not until 3-4 weeks after entry that SSA would even receive information from immigration. Then it takes time another couple weeks to issue a number. That if everything goes well. Some people have reported issues with mismatching names and such and those take a lot longer.

Thank you very much for your responses!

Really💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽 So happy for you... yes ooo we must join you. I was worrying too much so I stayed away for a bit... and tried to focus on other things. How’s the USA guess you are loving it. What state are you

I am in New Jersey. So far it's been good. I miss my family a lot though. From a joint family to just two people is a big change. I am sure I'll adjust in a bit.

Don't stress! You will be here soon. 🙂
