    You misread the policy: https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-4

@Stillwinning!!!😊 and @Godschild: see the middle row above that starts with "After applicant filed benefit application with USCIS"

So, after it’s been filed and VAWA approved your medical is good after 60 days? Sorry confused. I think I’ll just wait to receive courtesy letter to obtain medicals. I’m just curious why wait until you receive that noticed versus going when you receive the reminder paperwork. Thank you guys though.

They changed the guidelines for medicals.  They are now good for 2 years, but you cannot get them done more than 60 days before you turn them in.  So a medical that is already one year old when you get to your interview, they will  not accept.

Wow what a catch 22 lol. If I understand correctly, you sometimes receive a courtesy letter to have medicals for interview but that’s not your actual interview notice right?

Thanks dear!😊 If I recall your VAWA has been approved correct? I believe what you received was the courtesy letter..do not do the medicals yet until you get the interview letter! It's hard to tell when you will have your interview, but you're definitely getting closer as the next update will be an interview letter..that's the only time you'll know when you'll be having the interview. Relax dear, you're almost done!❤😊

Question, why shouldn’t you do your medical before interview? Aren’t they good for 1yr?

I appreciate Sandras great work and I respect her. I noticed her timely help to all responding well.

Maybe she misunderstood my question. In fact I was working last year with a category C9 EAD and I was depending on my lawyer who filed Category 31 which took too many months till date. I had to quit my job last year once my EAD expired and I am jobless till date living with my uncle after filing the VAWA application.

I know vey well we cannot work without a valid EAD and I also knew from few of the lawyers that I should not file for unemployment due to this pandemic. Thx :)

You answered your own question with your statement. It’s kinda common sense EAD gives people the right to work that don’t have status yet, so if you no longer have that right (EAD expires) how can you have the right for unemployment benefit? Unemployment benefit is tied to your SSN number for which clearly states only valid with EAD. Sandra didn’t misunderstand your question, it sounded like you were asking her to make a false assurance. We all need a valid EAD to work or adjusted status. The other attorneys advised you not to apply for unemployment and I would recommend listening to that advise.

Hello all! Long time lurker first time poster. I wanted to chime in to help add to the confusion, lol.

    My VAWA has been approved.

    Timeline:

    Jan 2019- i360, 485, 765 filed

    Feb 2019-PF received

March 2019- req for bio (ead)

    June 2019  ead received

    March 2020 ead renewal filed

May 2020   Email notification that card was being produced

card was mailed out couple of days later

some of my supporting evidence :

    police reports

    affidavits from family

    insurance documents
    restraining order

When I went to my lawyers office in March she informed me that they were just getting approvals for VAWAs that was filed in early 2018, I did not expect an approval so soon.

Congratulations another Jan 2019 filer. I’m so happy for you.

No i still haven’t. It’s been 291 days today.i applied in August 2019. But lot of people said I won’t get it untill the VAWA is approved as my attorney has done c31 :( some people say you still will get it. Let’s hope for the best. When did you file?

Hi, your question has been asked in several threads before. You will only get C31 EAD once VAWA is approved and not before. VAWA is currently taking 18-24 months approx to approve. If you have a pending I-485 then you can file EAD under C-09.

    Hi Dear,

I have recorded many of the cases and I noticed that there are two cases who filed Apr 2018 and Oct 2019 who got their RFE on 18th and 19th month and they got their VAWA cases approved 25th and 23rd month. therefore, please be hopeful and do not stress but keep waiting. Best of luck

RFE increases your wait time. The approval from Jan 2019 had no RFE, this is the same for the person from Dec 2018 etc. All we can do is remain hopeful and strong until your time.

Hey guys. How are you? Quick question here. I applied January 2019, no RFE to date. Applied for EAD renewal and it was processed right away and just approved. Ead was set to expire soon. Now it’s been 16 months since I applied Cor VAWA, is there any hope that my VAWA approval is closer?

Someone got approved from Jan 2019, while some are still waiting from 2017. They applied after I did and I’m still waiting. It just takes patience and approval will come when it comes. From most people’s timeline I’ve seen more 18-24 months.

    Hi Godschild,

I filed my VAWA on oct 2018 at Vermont. Have completed biometrics for i-485 and i-765. RFE had already been submitted and they received it. Its been 19 months till date and I never heard any news from them. I am new to this and worried why its taking long time. Whe should I expect the APPROVAL and EAD? Please suggest.

There are people still waiting from 2017, so I hope you hear something soon. There’s not set timeline on adjudication. I’m only praying to get approval soon after seeing this other Jan filer. All we can do is pray and know our time is coming.

Hey everyone. My VAWA is approved and I got this

On May 4, 2020, we transferred your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, Receipt Number xxxxxxx, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case.

    .....

I never submitted my physical for immigration.  When do I do that ?

    Thanks everyone

    What is your timeline please

    Hi all,

Did anybody recently sent in EAD+AP application to Vermont ?
They received my mail 15 days ago and still I didn't get a notification from USCIS that they received my case. Last 2 times it happened in like 3-5 days after they received it, this time I am not sure if something is wrong or they just have too much incoming mail maybe ?

What do you mean? You received a notice of action in 3-5 days after sending your renewal? I didn’t get mine for 2 months. I just sent my renewal application a week ago.

Thanks for the response...i contacted my lawyer today and hes charging me $1010 to renew my i765...pls i want you to guide me on how to do it myself

    Thanks

Yes, no problem I’ll be happy to. These people are something else. I hope they will at least notify you that they received your notice and EAD card when it gets to them. First thing get two recent passport photos, make a copy of your pending I-485, copy of prima facie or I-360 if you have it, Download most recent I-765 form from uscis website, I always include a cover letter, make a front and back copy of your current EAD card and then let me know when you have all of these things. I will walk you through filling out your form. Just inbox me. Try to get all this today so you can mail off tomorrow. Your attorney will receive your notice and new EAD card, I hope they notify you. You will follow up in 2 months to see if they’ve received your notice. This notice will give you that 180 day extension from the expiration date of your current EAD, just in case you need to renew your driver’s license or need to provide to employer.

Ok thanks so much...secondly, did you get receipt for i360 my lawyer said i wont be getting the receipt...

What kind of an attorney is this? Yes, I received a notice, which indicates their receipt date and 2 months later a prima facie. Wow this attorney is something else. I’m a Jan 2019 filer, so when people post their approval from Dec 31st 2018, it gives you hope that you’re next in line.

  15. Just now, Fmoyatty said:

Thanks for the response.. its gonna expire by October 2nd..

You’re most welcome. You should send your renewal off NOW. This way you’ll get your receipt notice hopefully in 2 months. It took 2 months to get my receipt notice. Now they sent all my stuff to my attorney and they contacted once they received it. Don’t wait any longer to send your renewal to Vermont because you’re within that 6 months and it’s taking them 6-9 months to approve.

Hello pls i have 2 questions from vawa...my 485 was hold in abeyance and i filed 360 December 2019,my lawyer told me i wont be getting receipt for my i360 because i have a pending 485 with them, pls is that true?

Secondly she said i cant renew my work authorization (765) that i have to wait till my 360 is approved.. pls advise me

    Thanks

I have a pending I-485 that was placed in abeyance and I’ve continued to renew my EAD. This attorney is full of nonsense. You won’t receive your C-31 EAD until your I-360 is approved( if your attorney requested one). I hope you’ve sent your I-765 renewal. My attorney charged me $750 to renew my EAD (765) which was a rip off and I learned from this forum I can do it myself. When does your EAD(765) expire? I sent my renewal to Vermont 6 months before expiration and it was approved about 4 months later.
