Hello,
I am currently furloughed due to the Covid-19 crisis. There is a chance I will still be furloughed or unemployed at the time I need to submit the I-864. I have more than sufficient income for the past 3 years, have a good savings account balance (almost 3x the threshold) and have actually earned above the poverty threshold for 2020 before I was furloughed, when adding in unemployment insurance income.
Would I need to have a joint sponsor?
even if you dont need a co sponsor, you should add one or two. it works in your favor.

My k1 case was approved at the interview. They took my passport did not ask for any additional paperwork and said I'd recieve my visa in 2 weeks. My interview date was March 3 ceac updated it on March 6th to administrative processing now on march 19 it changed to refused after I was told the case was approved ?? Any advice the consular officer sounded very happy with my case my interview was in sydney Australia.
do you mind telling what exactly your Refused status says?
its probably going under more administrative processing.

Hi guys. So i wanna share my experience with you guys. My sis had an interview in November 2019 at US embassy Islamabad and she was approved without any 221g form issued and no additional documents were asked. VO said she will get her visa in 2 weeks But then she was put into Administrative Processing for almost 4 months. Her status update date changed like 6/7 times. On march 3 her ceac status changed to “Refused” which was really panicking but later on we found that it was systemwide change and everyone who was in administrative processing was now showing Refused status. On march 17, 2020 her status changed from Refused to Administrative Processing again and next day visa was issued. So i have come to a conclusion that After the interview “Refused” is new term and once you are cleared you will be put into “Administrative Processing” status for short period of time right before issuance of your visa. Good luck everyone.
same here, refused, administrative processing to issued. today this morning it was shipped.

Sorry for the confusion. Since this potential plan only occurred to us yesterday, I meant 90 days was the length of her authorized stay. With 25 days left I'm not sure we can get the NOA1 before then, but we should be able to get the forms delivered to USCIS by then as long as we can get marriage certificate in the next three weeks. We're going to try to get a marriage license this afternoon, have a small ceremony ASAP, and will have to mail in for the certificate as the magistrate courts/ceremonies are all closed for 30 days.
whatever you choose to do, goodluck with it all. let us know how it all ends.

I entirely disagree. Marrying here and filing for AoS might be the best choice, not only because of health concerns (who would want to go on a long haul international flight these days? And then fly again when their visa is issued? Not only would they have to count on both countries still allowing flights in and out, as they would also have to risk being in airports, one of the hotspots for the coronavirus worldwide), but because at this point, consular processing has been suspended in many (if not the majority) of American Consulates all around the world. That delay alone could mean an extra financial burden, and if one or both countries imposes a lockdown, more hardship is likely to follow.
I am usually all for consular processing but this here is a clear case of change in circumstances that would entirely justify AoS.
guys but you all leaving behind his main concern which is What should we do? Should we get married ASAP and file AOS before the 90 day mark? Is it even possible in this amount of time? In addition to being nervous about the potential visa fraud/permanent issues getting a visa, we don’t even know when the courthouse will be open or if we can get the additional forms filed in time.
sorry i just find this case interesting due to the circumstance .

Tie the knot now
but, wouldn't it raise red flags for them?

Yeah this is what I was alluding to. Did not realize that the risk would be so low. Thank you for the reassurance.
This makes sense. We're both very much ready to be married and it would not be difficult tying up things back home for her (was planning to be here in late April/May on the K-1 anyway) but we'll need to review the required documents to make sure we have time and that the probate court is open.
Thank you for the response!
did you guys already had the interview? colombia embassy is not doing interviews, but their administrative area is fully working.
if i were you, i would just wait and be patient. follow up with the airlines, have them keep you posted.
the way i see it, is easier for her to flight back to colombia get her k1 visa issued and just come back in. doing what you want to do seems so much complicated, specially not knowing whats going to happen for the upcoming weeks now with this virus.

Was wondering if I, as the petitioner, could attend my fiancé’s K1 interview at the embassy in Bogota? If so, what can I expect from it and what can I do during it?
yes they will let you in, you will need to bring your birth certificate with you. they didn't ask me anything. my wife was the only one answering questions she basically had a friendly conversation with the officer like they were getting to know each other. that was it.
keep it mind that i went with a CR1 app, but since you are K1 they will surely interview you.

Ok cool, thanks! So I was planning on going to the interview also... but my wife said it was supposed to be only her? I've heard of the petitioners going also...
YES you can go with her, and they will let you in as long as you bring your birth certificate.
the only places you will not be allow to go in with her, is medical exam, bio-metric, and blood work. for this you will have to wait for her outside.

Good Day!
So I am petitioning my spouse who lives in Colombia. Married in Aug 2019 and first met in late 2018. Before getting married we went on a trip together, but besides that we haven't had the opportunity to spend a lot of time in person.
When putting together my I-130 I put as many photos as possible of our trip together and wedding. Also, I included documents such as passport stamps and receipts showing our trip together, marriage and honeymoon. Also included a an actual wedding invitation as well as copies of two statements from her family vouching that we have a legitimate relationship.
I am learning Spanish and she is learning English which makes our text message trail hit and miss. We text all the time and I have hundreds of megabytes of Whatsapp conversations. I didn't include any of this in my case initially given the mixed languages; but now i'm beginning to worry that I should have included it.
Given this do you think it would be worth taking samples from our conversation and having them translated and then submit it on the USCIS website under "UNSOLICITED INFORMATION" (see below)? It obviously states that they don't necessarily have to take it into account. Has anyone ever had this help their case, am I overreacting or should I just wait for their response if any further evidence is required?
Thanks so much!! 🙂
Hey you will be just fine you gave them too much already(but never too much). when i sent out my i-130 form i attached like 10 photos of us. (family & friends.)
and as statement i got my family members to sponsor her even though we didn't need any sponsors, i though it was a more legitimate statement instead of writing letters. as for now they never asked me for any proof of our relationship. by the way i did showed up to the interview with her.

My foreign fiancé lives in Colombia and the mail service is terrible. I have sent multiple letters to him, researched how to address properly, paid appropriate postage. None the less, mail never arrives to his house. I can send something by UPS/FedEx/DHL, etc and they call him and he can redirect to his office where he receives it.
For the purpose of the K-1 Visa process, is it ok to use my U.S. address as his mailing address and then scan/email him whatever comes, even though he continues to live abroad? Will this have any unforeseen implications, like making it difficult to visit using his current valid B visa?
everything is done electronically. i dont see a reason for you to send over documents to her? you will not miss any important document colombia embassy use Email and DHL to reach out to the applicants usually takes a day or two depends the city where she lives, she would the have to pick up any documents from a DHL office of her choice so you shouldn't worry about losing any mail at all.

my case also went from AP to refused, i spoke to an agent at NVC they told me they could not give me much info,"but just know that your case is still under review by an officer and last update was on 02/03/2020 which was the date the document was received" thats exactly what she told me. my heart dropped when i saw that REFUSED.

Natalia, the medical exam has a cost of $290,000 COPesos = $74 USDollar this doesnt include vaccinations so be prepare to pay a lot more, one single shot can cost up to $130,000 COPesos = $40 USDollar. or more. my wife had to get two shots and paid a total of $390,000 COPesos = $112USDollar. the total of the exam with vaccination was $680,000 COPesos.
my wife didn't have her vaccinations card, she went to her general doctor and they looked it up in their system. and created a new one. DO NOT GET ANY SHOTS if you already have a date for your interview.
read my interview review, i have posted current prices and some tips. message me if you have any more questions.
