  1. I will be arriving in Texas, and we will be driving to my fiancee's home in Oklahoma. We want to get married straight away at the nearest courthouse to the airport.

As he is a resident of Oklahoma, do we have to get married in an Oklahoma courthouse?

Can we get married there and then, paying all the fees (I presume this will be on a Friday)?

What do each of us need to bring with us (I will have my K1 visa)?

Cancer is not normally discovered with any type of observance (skin cancer maybe). If there was something (doesn't need to be cancer) they are going to refer you to your GP for further testing. Cancer is not a reason for a visa to be denied. Here is what is looked at during the exam; google DS-3026.

    😮 They look at genitalia?

  3. I've booked my interview for the 20th May but I'm not sure if I'll end up needing to rebook it for a later date. Do I have to change it at least 24 hours before the original appointment time, or can it be changed even an hour before the appointment time?

And how many days do I leave between the Medical and Interview?

I checked ceac tracking today and status changed from "at NVC" to "in transit" how waiting times are changing!!

    NOA1   11/28

    NOA2    4/1

    NVC rec  4/20

    NVC number 4/25

    In transit 4/30

Does this mean it will be sent to embassy in today's shipment? Also, in the message box says "your interview date was provided to you by the national visa center" but I have not received any

Mine is a couple of days earlier than yours and still says 'At NVC'... hopefully it will be in transit soon.

Q1. There is a very good chance you will be on the shipments that leave NVC tomorrow. But, no one can guarantee this. I have directions of what happens on the first page of this thread the first post.

Q2. "Ready" is not for "ready for next shipment". It's "ready" and is set by the embassy when THEY are ready for the beneficiary to begin their steps for the interview. Again, first page, first post for more information.

I called last Wednesday and got my Case Number, do you think I should call today and ask when it was assigned?

It doesn’t necessarily matter for the UK. I have my medical booked for early May and my case is still at the NVC. All that matters is that you have your case number and the medical is at least 5 days before the interview. Take in mind however, for the UK, the visa is valid for 6 months from the medical date, not the interview date

So can the Medical exam results be sent to the Consulate even if they haven't received the package from NVC yet?

Also, at the interview, if the co-sponsor earns enough to meet the income requirement but the CO doesn't like our choice for a co-sponsor, do they give us a chance to find another or is that the end and I won't be allowed to get the visa?

Please take care and make sure he'll be able to take care of you/that your AOS will not be delayed. Read to many stories where the new spouse is stuck in a situation where they overstayed, can't work without EAD, can't AOS because of the lack of funds.  Good luck in finding a sponsor, or a second job.

Once we get married on the K1 visa how long do we have to apply for AOS

Who helped him file his taxes? If his income is that minimal, he should reach out to the IRS for free help:

He self-filed online, thank you for the link - I will send that to him today. He seems to think that getting a co-sponsor will be our best option. But still he hasn't found one :( I'm so eager to go ahead and book my interview but it seems that this trouble will be what holds us up. :(

  9. I got the bad news that my USC Fiancee (who filed his taxes for the first time in his life) has filed them incorrectly. Which leaves him saying that he meets about $4000 of the $16,910 income requirement for the i-134 (K1 visa). What does he have to do now?

If he can include his assets too who does he need to value them?

Good news is I got our case number from the NVC last night so I should be booking my Medical/Interview very soon. Which means that if we don't want any delays we have to find a solution quickly. But... my fiancee is very slow and I am starting to freak out.

P.S. It also can take 16 weeks for a tax return to be amended and he doesn't want to wait that long.

  10. I'm the foreign fiancee and for a long while now my family have tried causing me trouble in my engagement to my US fiancee. They have all met him but the trouble is that my dad has told my family members lies about my fiancee. My dad sneeringly looks down on him and me because we are committed Christians and both want to live a simple life away from the cities. He went so far to tell my family that my fiancee is in poverty. When confronted with this from my Grandparents I carefully explained that my fiancee has his own house and plot of land without a mortgage, earns a good wage, has a well furnished, modern and comfortable home. Currently I am living at my parents' house so it has been a true struggle for me over the past year or so since they met him. My dad is a compulsive liar and has my family members wrapped around his fingered they eat up every word his says... no matter how much I set them straight on what is true.

My dad's and my family's world view is that a woman has a career first, money is the focus of life and she might get married (like some of them did) when they are well in their 30s. It is very sickening when someone else tries to suffocate your own dreams and desires. Sure if there are ladies who want to wait that is fine too... me and my soon to be husband want building a happy little family to be the focus of our efforts.

My concern is that at the interview the CO might ask about how my family feel about me getting married, are they coming to our wedding etc...

Will it be a problem that I will have to say outright that they don't approve and no they are not coming we are going to a courthouse to marry alone because they have caused so much grief and torment for us?

    (Sorry for the rant)
