Hi! I was wondering in the P3 List, is it military records for the beneficiary or petitioner? My Fiance (american) served, but I did not. As well it state marriage certificates, but we wont be getting married until after? Is that for K3 visa?

I'm not 100% sure about the military record thing I'm sorry.

As far as I understand marriage certificate is only for previous marriages.

I guess another thing has changed with Montreal. It used to be only kids 14 and up had to be there. That email says they need to go, sucks but another must in this process.

I thought I read the same thing somewhere... I suppose it doesn't much matter being that I did hear it directly from the horses mouth

  3. So... Our case is in Montreal and we're almost ready to send in packet 3 (waiting on children's passports)

I emailed the embassy in Montreal to ask if it's necessary that my fiance's daughters (7 and 8 years old) attend the interview as well. And they responded with this...

    Copied from email:

All applicants, regardless of age, must attend the visa interview appointment. In cases of minors, the applicants must be accompanied by at least one parent or the legal guardian.

I was hoping somebody knows a way to work around having to fly them round trip from Vancouver island across Canada. Maybe a guru like @Greenbaum has some input? 🙏

They also included a link in the email to P3 (the same exact thing I got from @Greenbaum) and said to send it in completed etc so they can schedule our interview. So if your waiting to receive packet 3 I would say it's probably wise to email them to verify your case is there and ready and then send it 😉 (sorry if this is common knowledge)

    I emailed:

    Montreal-IV-DV@state.gov

    (Case number in subject line)

  4. Alright y'all!!!

Things are finally moving along it seems!

Or status changed today to "ready" on CEAC

1: Am I correct in thinking that means it's physically in Montreal now?

2: can we start DS160 now or do we have to wait to get P3 in hand?

4: would it be wise to start chasing down things like police certificate? (I researched it with all the info you gave @Greenbaum made some phone calls and got it all sorted and planned btw)

  5. So... We never received anything physically in the mail, but today I (US petitioner) got an email

    from: NVC-do-not-reply@state.gov

subject: The National Visa Center sent your K1 visa petition to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in Montreal, Canada

and attached is a letter titled (K-1-FTP) dated today 28-May-2019 that says:

The National Visa Center (NVC) received your fiancé (e)’s/spouse’s approved I-129F petition from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). NVC will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Montreal, Canada. Please note that the transfer process can take several weeks. The U.S. Embassy or Consulate will contact your fiancé (e)/spouse when they are ready to process his or her petition. Next steps: Go to our website http://nvc.state.gov/k1 to learn how to apply for a K visa and prepare for the visa interview.

it also includes our MTL case number interview location etc.

I know this is probably a very generic question but this is all a bit confusing, what exactly does this mean and what do we do now?

Which number did you call? And how did you get through to the operator? My fiancé will try as well

    thanks

    1-800-375-5283

    Follow the prompts

    1 for English etc

    it was pretty self explanatory.

Then at the end I pressed 3 to be connected to a person "to update  address or other questions" (or something to that affect) and waited patiently for 58 minutes until I was connected and he asked some simple questions.

Verify my name address phone number email birthdate (I am the US petitioner he asked nothing about my fiance)

And he asked how he could help me and I asked if there was any updates and what was the status of my case.

He put me on hold for about 2 minutes and came back and said we were approved.

I asked if the NOA2 could be emailed or if he could give me any other info pertaining to it...

He said he cannot. If we don't receive it on the mail within 30 days to call again.

Sorry that got a little long winded lol

  7. As of today 5/13 we were at 114 days and starting to wonder.

I called today (thanks to this thread)

And was on hold for almost an hour until I finally got through to a helpful guy named Jacob.

He needed the WAC# and some other simple things and he checked our status and said we were approved 4/30!!!

He said NOA2 can take up to 30 days to get to us in the mail. But at least we have some good news.

Congratulations. Yes there is one item. The rest of the time is waiting for NOA2 about 4.5-6 months down the road.

Many of our answers are predicated on the information you supply in your profile. When we look at the left column and can't determine your timeline or your Embassy it's hard for us to give you a factual answer. If you look at the profile of others here, they have a flag for their country, so it makes it easy for us to reply as we can quickly determine your Embassy. Our answers will sometimes be tailored to a specific Embassy hence the reason for you to complete your profile.

So, if you could help yourself out and complete your profile that sure would help us out when we want to reply to your question with factual information.

Go to the top right of this page select your name (it's on the upper right-hand corner)>my profile>[below your picture on the right column] edit my profile. Scroll to the bottom and fill in "Immigration Info". There now we can better serve you.

    Thanks

    Done... Thank you!

    What's the "one item"?

We didn't send anything along those lines.  Anecdotally, I have noticed that sending extra non-required items can lead to delays and RFEs.  All they need to see for the petition is proof of the USC's citizenship, evidence of having met once during the preceding two years, and evidence of petitioner's and beneficiary's legal ability and intention to marry each other.

    Thank you so much.

    That's excellent advice.

I'm learning so much from you all
