Congrats 🎉🎈🎊 when was your DQ? And what kind of questions answered if u can ?!! Thanks

Thank you! We had DQ on Dec 4th and invitation later arrived on Dec 11th.

    The questions were:

    - when did you get married

    -where did you meet

    - what does your husband do

I was in US before on L1 work visa so related to that he asked where I work now and if I plan to work in the US.

  2. Short case update - I had my interview today for CR1 and the officer said everything is in order, I should have my passport back in a week.

Very few questions so it was quick. Funny thing is the instructions and interview letter asks for 2 passport photos and I only got asked for 1! I only realized that later so hopefully the officer didn't forget and now can't process it.

  3. Hi Snowdog. Could it be the name/title on the rejected document is different than mentioned in the country document list on the travel.gov website?

We had 2 civil document rejected yesterday. One is my (applicant beneficiary) birthcertificate and although it is the correct doc, it says birthcertificate in english but in my country it would be called "extract from population system". The only comment from NVC was to provide the correct document from relevant authority. I thought a corresponding title to the requirement would help them understand and approve :(

I am disappointed and frustrated with the delay but at least other important AOS and civil document were accepted. I wonder how long it takes to review again...

  4. DS260 done and we uploaded the civil documents and all AOS documents on Sept 19! Now I'm nervous and waiting for NVC to review... I included only what was asked for and nothing additional.

Like I didn't include petitioner divorce decree or a marriage certificate from my (the immigrant) previous marriage because in my country we don't have such document. Everything is recorded electronically in the "population system". I did upload my divorce decision document from the court.

What do you think, should I add some explanations to the "other documents" or just calm down and wait to hear from NVC?

I thought everything was very clear but now I'm second guessing my understanding. Thanks!

I'm just going on reports I've seen on Facebook  Groups and Forums about people having to resubmit, etc. You're dealing with official guidance but all the opinions and interpretations of people who work at the NVC, which can vary from person to person.

Thanks everyone for commenting and OG for finding that info in FAQ. I'll combine translations but everything else separately :)

  6. Hi everyone,

we finally got our case number on Thursday 12th September. USCIS had sent our case August 8th already. ( We don't know when received at NVC)

I'll hopefully start filling the forms and uploading documents in a few days :)

I have read about your experiences, and the need to be very careful with providing everything clearly. So I'm wondering - should a document in foreign language + certified translation be separate PDFs or one combined PDF? I wouldn't want the officer to look at one and immediately declare original or translation is missing!

    Thank you!

Yes you will need the petitioners divorce decree, for both the NVC and the interview.

About tax transcript, the instructions say  to submit tax transcript, and include w-2  if you filed jointly. Pay stubs and employment letter are optional, you can include them if you think they will help.

If you google "Begin national visa center" you will see the official NVC website, and there you can see everything you will need to do and every document you will need for the NVC and interview. They have instructions there for everything. I was just reading it last night since my case was approved this week :)

Thanks Iscir! Seems we have the same schedule, I just started studying the NVC website yesterday as well. We filed taxes separately as we just got married in Jan 2019. I'll tell my hubby to order the transcripts and just use that.

  8. Hi everyone!

I might be here too early as I have just now seen our online status updated to "case sent to department of state for visa processing". We haven’t received any NOA2 letter but starting preparations even if we don’t get to file in August yet.

I also have a question about the financial documents. My USC husband works as consultant/ independent contractor for a few companies. He should have tax transcript available but not really a work contract or pay stubs. Do you think transcript is enough? (we won’t use co-sponsors)

And I'm wondering about the original documents needed for the interview. I understand the NVC phase is about “petitioner’s financial documents and the applicant’s civil documents”, so will I need petitioners divorce decree? We of course submitted a copy to USCIS but I don’t think he has the original.

    Thank you!

  9. Hello, not sure if any other Finnish-Americans still in the process but I thought I'd say hello. I'm in Finland and going crazy with the NOA2 wait for CR-1... It is so frustrating not knowing when I can go back home to my husband. I am hoping that the final embassy stage is at least a smooth one once we get that far. I'll gladly take any hints :)  ( I've had L1 interview before and that was quick)

  10. Hi, our evidence request was for a recent passport photo of the USC petitioner. It was of course easy to submit but we had included 2 already with the application. So it could be something very simple - or something they lost or think is unclear. Unfortunately we've now been waiting for more than two months since sending the response so I don't have anything very positive to share. I did read that sometimes RFE responses are handled as quickly as in 2 weeks.

  11. RFE for 1 recent passport photo of petitioner...

Ah the feared RFE! Hopefully easily cleared, I'm just sad about losing time. We did submit 2 passport photos but my husband actually wasn't that happy with them so not sure if quality issue or they got lost.

Odd part was they requested Alien number in the back. He is USC but former green card holder. Do you think there's a risk USCIS is confused about that? Thanks!

  12. Hi everyone,

we filed I-130 end of January and NOA 1 came on Feb 7th. We received the electronic notification but the letter never came in the mail. Are we missing now something, were we supposed to do something based on the 797? We've just been waiting and now I got a little concerned.

We are Finnish -American couple and according to VJ timeline there isn't enough recent approvals to give an estimate. Anyone with same issue?

Hoping for the best but very nervous... Thanks!

  13. Thanks for your reply Millefleur! Maybe I better get the report from China then. It does show up on my list of addresses.

We can include the marriage certificate and some wedding photos. I can't think of much else. What did you send?

This is wonderful and stressful times I must say. Some documents are different between the US and other countries so hopefully everything is accepted the first time. Fingers crossed!

  14. Hi everyone,

I've read many good posts about the topic but had a few more questions. Has anyone wondered about these same points and could share some experience or advice?

I want to be clear and thorough but not add unnecessary information.

Just as background - I am Scandinavian and met my American husband while I was working in the US. My contract ended so I had to leave and I'm currently living and working in my home country. We just got married so getting ready to submit the application.

    Petition evidences - visits

    - I returned to Europe in June 2018 and we married in January 2019

    - should I include boarding passes from visits in between?

130a spouse form - previous addresses

    - should I include temporary addresses from the US, from business trip visits?

    - the longest period was 2 months (for work) prior to relocating to US with a work visa

    - home address was of course abroad but I did open already a bank account using the company apartment address

    Visa application - police certificates

    - i can easily get from my country of residence, which is my home country but I also lived in China for several years

    - how likely will NVC ask for police clearance from my China years? It's complicated and costly to get so I'm not sure if should start the process.

Thank you very much for your comments!

  15. Hi!

I couldn’t find this type of situation from earlier posts and wonder if anyone has experience. I’m worried our case looks rushed so if anyone has any pointers I’d be grateful.

My fiancé just got his US citizenship (after 10 years in US with GC) and we plan to have our wedding now. Does that raise any red flags, marrying right after the naturalization?

    Background:

I am Scandinavian (EU passport) and worked in the US on L1 visa. We met there and after dating for a year we moved in together (still have a lease with both names) but my work assignment ended suddenly and I returned to Europe. I still have US SSN, bank accounts and credit cards and I’ve visited twice under the visa waiver program since I left. I hope it’s not a complication!

We’d rather do the CR1 than K1 because I’d like to work as soon as I can return to US. Thanks for any advice!
