So he hasn't met her yet, plans to go for a casual drink in Mexico, take some pics, and he already knows he wants to marry her? That sounds like a green card arrangement to me.
That's his concern also (that in the eyes of USCIS it will look suspicious). But there is no money involved. He thinks he's madly in love with the lady and is willing to take a risk.
There is also an issue of an age gap (he is 72 y.o. , she is 32 y.o).
The communication is through Skype only (calls and video-calls). How can they prove those?

He is asking if he can use a local newspaper (current issue) in the photo with the lady? As a proof or geo-localization.

Maybe a receipt from the bar they meet at? Chances are it will be dated and time stamped
It's an idea, thanks. But how can he prove that he had a drink in that bar with the beneficiary and say, not with somebody else?

Passport entry stamp?
There will be NO passport entry stamp. While on foot, you just leave the US side freely without showing your passport to anyone.
I believe it's only while crossing the border back to the States, you show your passport to a border patrol officer.

I ask the wise people of this Forum on behalf of my friend. He is a US citizen who lives in Arizona. He's been communicating for a few months with a lady from Mexico whom he found on a dating site. The two plan to meet for the first time in Nogales, Sonora (Mexico). My friend will drive himself to the border, cross the border on foot, spend a couple of hours with the lady in a bar or restaurant in Nogales, where they'll have a drink, chat, take photos of each other, then part their ways. After which (provided they liked each other in person) he plans to file for K-1/K-2 for her and her little child.
Question: What evidence of their personal meeting (apart from photos) can he submit to prove it happened within last 2 years? Obviously, there will be no boarding passes, hotel receipts, or things like that...

High fraud country or not, we are always taking a risk. I mean a foreign spouse. It may work out in the end, or it may not. Fifty-fifty, basically.
No risk, no champagne.

Not enough information provided on your J1 visa. Why do you go back home for two years? Did your J1 have a 2 year rule attached?
If yes, then on the day of your interview for your CR1/IR1 you should have the 2 year rule completed to be able to get your immigrant visa approved.

Thanks for the responses! They live in Arizona. I checked the link, thanks! Why $30,170 for the family of 5 if in the link it's 100% of poverty guidelines. Isn't it supposed to be 125% for IR-5?

A question from my friend. She is a citizen of Uzbekistan. Her daughter is a U.S citizen. Daughter wants to file I-130 for mother. The family size of Daughter is 4 (Daughter+husband+2 babies) and total income (Daughter+husband) is roughly 60K.
My friend is confused: Will they have to count her as their family member, too? If yes, then the family size will be 5, right?
Will the income be enough to sponsor Mother or a joint sponsor is needed?

You should expect a letter from NVC (if you didn't change your address). If I were you, I'd call NVC to inquire.

Looks like the visa number for your your sister has become available (according to Visa bulletin). Congratulations!

Thank You! How much did it cost?
Also, are you going to get it translated into English?

From the I-129f instructions. Feel like I am posting this every day.

Translations. If you submit a document with information in a foreign language, you must also submit a full English translation. The translator must sign a certification that the English language translation is complete and accurate, and that he or she is competent to translate from the foreign language into English. The certification should also include the date, the translator’s signature and printed name, and may contain the translator’s contact information.
Okay. Then define "a document" and if a chat log can be considered as such?

My husband is French (beneficiary of a pending CR-1) and lives in France, and the interview will be in Paris.
In the past he worked and lived in Switzerland, so he has to produce a police clearance certificate from there.
Question: Can he request this document to be issued in the French language (rather than in German)?
How much time does it take to get this document (in paper by mail) obtained?
-
Thank you to all who answered!
But there's no mentioning of apostilles, so I assume just the certified translations will do?
-
Also, will the electronic form do? Or should the police certificate be a piece of paper?
-
Please update your information as I am searching the answer to the same question...

My husband who lives in France (beneficiary of a pending CR1) will have to provide police clearance certificates from all countries where he lived since the age of 16, correct?
In his case it's France, Portugal and Switzerland.
Of course, the documents will be issued in French, Portuguese and German.
Question #1: Will each of the documents have to be APOSTILLED and TRANSLATED into English?
How "fresh" each document should be on the day of the interview for CR1 visa?

I added photos of screenshots of our Whatsap chats, and they are in French language, and I did not care to translate them. What the heck.
Their purpose is to show the ONGOING communication between the couple. Nobody at USCIS is going to read those chats, anyway.
If the chats do not carry any weight in proving a bonafide relationship, they are not going to harm our case, either.

Sure. But unmarried children under 21 always count in your household regardless of any of that. What happens if the other natural parent dies tomorrow?
And what about the unmarried children under 21 of the BENEFICIARY? They are STEPchildren of the USC petitioner, and it's CR1 case. Are they counted as members of the household for I-864 if they are NOT immigrating to USA with their parent (and instead stay in the custody of the other parent in their home country)?

She can work from the minute her passport is stamped. Even before the SSN has arrived. The company likely will withhold her pay until the SSN number is verified but she is legally able to work from the moment she has her passport stamped.
I started work less than 2 weeks after I arrived. I would have started sooner but I arrived just before Christmas and my line manager was on leave over Christmas and so I decided to wait for her return to work. My SSN arrived around 10 days after I started working. My employer withheld my wages until I showed the card and they ran the number through the verification process.
Will ITIN substitute SSN in this case (getting paychecks)?

When I was asked to be a joint sponsor for my friend, I had to submit 3 years of return transcripts. It was back in 2013, so I don't know if the rules changed since then.
