    Kkimpala got a reaction from Kathanael in k1 filers - NOV-DEC 2018 NOA2-->Consulate.
Hey everyone. Just finished my interview this morning and happy to say we are approved! It was fairly quick and everyone was very nice for the majority. The CO asked me maybe 4-5 simple questions and finally asked me if I have ever been arrested (which was no) and said the computers were slow and she would “take my word for it” and go ahead with giving me the approval slip ahaha kind of a strange way of ending it but I’m a pretty happy camper in the end:) I was shocked at how much they didn’t ask and how many documents I didn’t need. I was definitely over prepared but better that than under prepared I guess. Hoping my passport gets here quick so we can finally get married. I know we still have a lot more to do still with adjustment of status but I’m glad this part is nearing an end and we can finally be together. If anyone has any Montréal consular specific questions I’d be happy to do my best to give you answers from my experience. This has been a long and exhausting process and I’d love to give back a little especially since I couldn’t have done it without the people on this site. Good luck to anyone still waiting and all the best<3

    Updates:
We drove a U-Haul from Vancouver through Peace Arch a few days ago.  Our experience:

We got to the border at 5am or so. Google Maps got us lost - refer to the signs to get to the crossing.
At the first gate, we were directed to park in a separate area and go into the lobby for processing.
They asked what we do for work, where we're going to live, etc, and took both our passports.
We had our cat with us; immigration glanced at her but didn't ask for any paperwork or ask questions about her. We did have her vaccination paperwork just in case.
They did take a quick look at our manifest (I had listed boxes with a couple of example items per box, such as "Kitchen 1 - utensils, plates" "Living room - Video games, books").
They also looked in the back of our U-Haul for a few minutes while we waited in the lobby.

No one else was there and we were in and out in ~30 minutes.

You need the I-134 for the K1.  I agree, it's totally unclear on both P3 checklist and P4.

I've read that the embassy does not do a credit check so you don't necessarily have to list those.  I only put my gross income on mine, did not put any debt or mortgages info and did not have any problems.

We filled out everything. Including his motorcycle and truck value (which isn't much), and his mortgage and credit card debts.
My thoughts are, it's ALWAYS better safe than sorry. I would have hated for it to get rejected because it wasn't filled out fully and honestly. 🤷‍♀️

Those documents should satisfy the CO.

As far as I know, that's perfectly fine for the interview but I'd say try to update the new physical address with USCIS, I think you can do that in through his online account.

And also same! VJ  has been the most helpful tool for this whole process!

Omg I know, they definitely don’t make anything straight forward throughout this whole process! Lol but yes now that I’m thinking about it I believe the expedited or premium delivery is only so that you can have it delivered instead of picking it up. They definitely made it seem like it would be quicker when I chose the option but I’m sure it’ll take the same amount of time to have them deliver it to the post office as it would to be delivered to an address. Guess I spent an extra $20 for nothing but at least it saves me a trip to the post office I guess ahahah

Hey guys quick question. I emailed the embassy (Montreal) about which documents to provide for domicile and status for US petitioner and they sent me a reply about “how to book my interview” lol which is already done and also wasn’t related to my question at all ahaha but does anyone have advice on which documents we should provide for the interview to show this? My fiancé has lived in the US his whole life and has never lived anywhere else and can provide many documents to prove domicile and status in the USA. So far we have a copy of his passport and birth certificate and income tax returns. Just want to make sure we bring the right ones!  Thanks!!

Ooh okay thank you! So many terms and things come up everyday and I want to make sure we don’t miss anything. I appreciate your replies so much! Is your interview in April as well?

Also to try and answer your other question I chose the expedited delivery when I booked my interview on the visa site and I believe they called it premium for $20. So I think it’s the same thing:) not sure if it will make any difference in receiving my passport back but I figured I’d give it a shot:) thanks so much again for your advice and replies:)

You'll get a 221g if the consulate needs any extra information or documents from you. It's kind of like an RFE from the consulate.

Copy of his passport bio page and a utility bill showing his address should satisfy the domicile. I guess you would use the passport for the status. Those are a couple of curve balls that no other embassy ask for. Mmmmm goood luck.

They released March on January 30th.  It's normally last week of the month; if they stick with Wednesday, that would be the 27th.

    I use this link https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-CA/iv/users/sign_in
to sign in with my email address and password I created when I opened the account. If that doesn’t work there’s also a number you can call and talk to an operator for the site. They are very friendly and informative, I’ve called a few times now and they answer right away. Hope this helps:)

Yeah; unfortunately if no appointment times are showing up it means that everything in March has been booked.  There's no notification system for cancellations, so it's pretty much taking a quick check every day and hoping you get lucky.

You can pay the fee online; you're supposed to be able to debit but I had issues with that, but the online system happily took my credit (Visa).

Oh no!!! I was hoping for a late March interview, too. They will open April dates up during the last week of this month. Wah. Maybe you will get a cancellation but you'll just have to keep an eye on it for openings.

Hey guys quick question for Montreal filers:
i recieved the email to schedule my appointment and pay fee. It says “no appointments available” for Montreal. Anyone know when these dates start to open up or how to keep an eye on them? I have a flexible schedule so I would be willing to scoop up a cancellation if possible. Just unsure of how they notify you of such things, if they do at all. Also it’s prompting me to pay the fee but it doesn’t look like there is a way to pay it online? Which I would like to do. Thanks in advance !

Nope we did not receive an electronic copy! If you didn't contact them about anything on the 31st it's likely that update means they mailed P3 on the 31st. You could try e-mailing your P3 docs in, it's seemed to be a 50/50 shot for folks who have tried to send ahead of receiving the official request. Or if you wait, it probably won't be long until something arrives in the mail to you (likely both beneficiary and petitioner), especially if you are close to Montreal. We are on the west coast, if that helps your estimate.

Our case left the NVC at the end of November, then the Consulate asked me for proof of Canadian citizenship (probably because I wasn't born in Canada but have citizenship) in mid-December. P3 arrived January 7. Although no RFEs our case is taking longer than most Canadians I've seen here but that's just the way it is. Don't worry!

Thanks so much! How long did it take for P3 to arrive for you? My case arrived at the embassy on the 24th and I haven’t received anything yet:(

I put a check mark next to the things that applied to me. For those not applicable, I put N/A and they accepted it. The packet 4 arrived four days later.

I sent an email to the Montreal embassy just inquiring about the status of my case. Hopefully they will reply with an electronic copy of packet 3 so I can send that over asap. I’ll keep you posted if I get a response!
