My husband got his "expedite approved" email at about 9pm on 23 July and his interview appt email at about 5pm the following day. Hope that helps -- good luck!

This is wonderful 😃 Thank you so very much for helping me. Now I know to be checking my emails in the evenings and night. This eases my anxiety and will have me less checking my email all the time lol Thanks so much again 😊

We got the “interview was cancelled” and “expedite was approved” emails a day apart. Once we got the “expedite was approved” email, the case status changed to “In Transit.” The day after, it changed to “Ready.” The interview appointment email/letter came 2 days after that (I also noticed that the case status was updated that same day the email was sent).

Hope that helps!! Congrats on getting the notification though! You’re almost there!!! :)

Yes it does. Thank you so very much for replying and helping I appreciate it. I hope they email very soon 😃

My husband just got approved! His medical had not arrived yet (he only got it done 8 days ago) but that's okay, he needs his passport to travel back to Denmark so I assume the medical will have arrived by the time his passport gets to the embassy. So beyond happy!! Finally we are done 18 months later
I haven't gotten the chance to call him since he needed to catch his flight back home, but I will let you all know the specifics when I get to talk to him :)

This is wonderful new Congratulations super excited for you both 🥳 Yes please keep updated 😄

    Hi guys!

I just came across this group a few days ago and figured I would share my experience.

I had my visa interview in Stockholm on the 24th of July. The interview process was quite quick and easy, but I was asked to send some additional documents. That part took a while, but I was told that my visa is approved on the 13th of August. I agree with the comments that the receptionist ( the lady) was quite rude and difficult to deal with, but the man that conducted the interview was super nice and easy going. I am currently waiting for my passport to reach Oslo.. it is taking a while.. anyone know how long that could take? I mean Stockholm is just 6 hours away from Oslo 😬😂 The whole process has been draining and I can’t wait to finally move to California :) I am happy to answer any questions.

Hello welcome to the thread :) thank you for sharing your story and also Congratulations 🥳 I bet your both just super excited. Oh wow California always looks like such a pretty city I bet you'll have a great time there. I am curious though what is your DQ date if I may ask just out of curiosity sake lol

    An update from our side...

My husband had his interview this morning in Stockholm -- his appointment was at 9:30am. We arrived early (9:05) and he was asked to wait outside (there are seats outside) until they called him, which was at 9:40. That's when he entered the Embassy/security. I waited outside the whole time. He came back out around 11:05am. His visa was not approved at this time/additional administrative processing is required.

Yesterday, the Embassy sent him an email (that he missed while we were traveling to Stockholm) with information about the pre-paid waybill we needed to provide, to have his passport/documents returned to him in Copenhagen. Since he didn't provide the waybill, he was sent with instructions of how to do so -- we completed this right away.

From our understanding, the reason he was not approved was due to the officer questioning the validity of his (original) birth certificate. The officer retained his passport, original birth certificate, and the certified translation.

There was a female who performed his document check -- he didn't feel that she was that friendly (e.g. she created confusion when she thought he didn't speak English -- he is fluent). She asked him multiple questions about his original birth certificate (e.g. when and how he got it ... it's literally the original ...). She asked him about my employer (an international public organization, i.e. United Nations agency), if my income is paid for by Danish authorities (no) or the UN (yes), and if my job is transferrable to the US (yes). She claimed there was a discrepancy with his mother's maiden name on the documents (there isn't) and that there would be to be a correction (I still don't understand why). To add insult to injury, his mother died several weeks ago. That's not info that was relevant to update, apparently.

The interviewer was male and ultimately told my husband that there is no issue with the legitimacy of our relationship (questions were asked about how we met, where we met, how he asked for my phone number, if he'd met my family, how many times, when was the last time he saw them, where/when we got married, how long we've lived in Copenhagen, how long we lived together before Copenhagen, where we lived before, what I did for work when we met, my age.....etc.).

Anyway, we're both rather disappointed, but... we'll wait and see.

I'm sorry it didn't go all according to plan but the important part is they know your relationship is legit and they didn't say anything was wrong with the financial part and i'm sure this is something that can be fixed easily remember NVC did the hard part. I understand though being disappointed but I think it will be temporary. I will think good and positive thoughts your way and be hopeful for you both hugs.

    hey,

I just received an email from the NVC. They are telling me that they are cancelling my husband's appointment but they never gave us an appointment. that's weird. what does it mean? they are saying that they will schedule one as soon as possible.

How exciting from what I've seen on here its pretty standard now and you should be getting a interview appointment soon :)

  7. Hello everyone, I have a question to the people who have had interviews recently. Do the Embassy and COs keep your I-864 and copies of Financial documents (Transcripts, Tax Returns,1099 and W2s) and copies of birth certificates and Domicile Evidence or do they just make copies of them and give you all your documents back at the end of the interview? Thanks so much :)

Hello! My case got forwarded from the USCIS to the NVC on April 19th. I emailed the NVC one month ago (July 20) and they said they had received it, but didn't give any details about my case creation. Now even if I assume they received it on July 20th, the time frames on their site say they have entered all cases received before August 5th. However i've received no email/mail, the initial USCIS mail being the only thing I have. Does anyone know what I should do?

I'm super confused, cause it should have been entered into the system a while ago.

What category are you in? You should fill out your timeline so others can help easier. Also a few things check your email inbox and spam folder to make sure you haven't missed it. Also go on to USCIS website and check your online USCIS account and or check your status by putting your receipt number in. Also you can try the CEAC status checker. Also another reason is if your in a visa category that is banned under the EOs and travel bans the NVC isn't processing them as fast also because they are working from home and are also not as badly as USCIS but also understaffed and also backlogged a little bit. You can of course email or call them to ask them what is happening lots of people call to ask questions.

Things will definitely be interesting in the US in the coming months. It’s not holding us back though, as we’ve been long distance since 2017. I’ve already started the process of selling my apartment and looking for a job, so I’m calculating with being fully relocated by the end of September, assuming the technical issue regarding the medical examination doesn’t prolong the issuing of the visa too much

Oh me too. I know it says on the website your not suppose to sell stuff or do anything drastic until interview but we've already started selling and getting rid of stuff to make it less stressful later on and so we can move as soon as I pack everything up :)

Not at all, I didn’t even bring a copy of my wife’s birth certificate as it wasn’t mentioned in the interview checklist nor in the appointment notice.

The officer was training a new officer so she was explaining a lot of things, and as I gathered it, the interview appointment is only concerned with the beneficiary’s paperwork and not the petitioner, as their documents might be in the US for good reasons.

OMG thank you so much for replying to me I've been wondering this question for so long. Thanks you again :)

Just curious when do you think yall will be moving to the US? My sister thinks things will get bad by November but I don't know I tell her we will move as fast as we can ship everything and will not delay at all lol.

    Thank you!

A 3rd person arrived after I had completed my document check. When I arrived at the embassy for the security screening, I noticed they checked my name on a list containing 3 other names and times. So it's possible they're only doing 4 each day

That's great and makes me hopeful. Thank you so very much for telling me this it made me even more excitement. I hope they are able to do 4 each interview day and then hopefully they will get the backlogged cleared and get up to date. Congratulations again on your approval 😃

Thank you so much! It's a big relief to have this part of the process completed.

Yeah, I emailed the embassy after the interview and they told me they're working on the technical issue concerning the results of the submitted medical examination. Hopefully it will be fixed before Friday!

Inside the immigrant visa section of the embassy, window 7 (as mentioned in the appointment notice) is where the document check is performed. They asked for my original birth certificate, our original marriage certificate and my police certificate, in addition to my passport. Finally, they asked when we last saw each other and to provide evidence of ongoing relationship. I had brought flight tickets, a copy of our new lease (with both of our names on it), lots of photos and call logs/messages. The officer took the lease, some pictures and the call logs/message screenshots that I had printed from my phone. All of these were returned, except for the passport, after the actual interview. Everyone was very kind and welcoming for the whole process.

Best of luck to your husband on Friday!

Thank you so very much for this information 😃 Did they by chance ask for the petitioners original birth certificate they uploaded to the CEAC website? Or just a copy of it will suffice?

I had my interview this morning at the embassy in Stockholm.

I arrived around 30 minutes before and was let in with no problem. In the immigrant visa area, only two other people were waiting for document check. The interview itself was very short, maybe 5-10 minutes. The consular office asked me some basic information about when and how we met, where we got married, what I'm doing for work and what I'm planning on doing for work in the US. I was outside again after about 1h 30m from arrival.

Since the results of my medical examination has not arrived yet, they could not approve me for the CR-1 visa until they showed up. It appears there's some technical difficulties with the receiving the results, as my physician's office confirmed last week that everything had been submitted on their end. This was also mentioned by the officer who took my documents before the interview.

Congratulations this is wonderful I'm so happy for you both and thank you so very much for keeping us updated and giving us information about how everything goes to see if they change anything from week to week. That is sad the medical hasn't arrived yet but from what i've seen around here that's pretty normal lately. Just so excited for you :)

You said there were 2 other people in the visa interview section? Do you think that means they are interviewing 2 to 3 applicants at a time on Tuesdays and Fridays?

My husband just had his medical this morning in Copenhagen! Pretty standard, he said it took about an hour, he did have to get 2 vaccines (a second MMR vaccine and TDAP booster shot) but other than that, all clear :) Ready for the interview next week!!

This is wonderful now your all ready for your husbands interview and one step closer :)

    AUGUST 12, 2020 / 7:49 PM / CBS NEWS

A federal appellate court on Wednesday limited an order that had blocked the nationwide implementation of a controversial wealth test for green cards and immigrant visas, allowing the Trump administration to continue the policy in every state except New York, Connecticut and Vermont.

The court partially set aside last month's ruling from a federal judge in New York, who said the so-called "public charge" test was hindering nationwide efforts to contain the coronavirus by discouraging immigrants from requesting public assistance, including medical treatment, during the pandemic.

U.S. Circuit Judge Peter Hall did not provide a reason in his one-paragraph order, which set aside the lower court injunction in every state but New York, Connecticut and Vermont. All three of those states had sued the Trump administration over the public charge rule.

  17. WASHINGTON – The federal agency tasked with offering citizenship, green cards and visas to immigrants is planning to furlough about two-thirds of its workers at the end of the month after Congress failed to reach a deal on a coronavirus stimulus package.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services notified about 13,400 of its 20,000 employees that they would be furloughed Aug. 30 because of budget shortfalls, which the agency hoped Congress would fill in its next relief package before negotiations stalled last week.

"In the past few months, USCIS has taken action to avert a fiscal crisis, including limiting spending to salary and mission-critical activities," an agency spokesperson said. "Without congressional intervention, USCIS will have to take drastic actions to keep the agency solvent."

The agency had asked Congress for $1.2 billion, and the money had been expected to come through its next coroanvirus relief package. But after about two weeks of negotiations, talks dissolved as Democrats and the White House blamed each other for the stalemate.

In the end, the president signed four executive orders trying to fill the gap on some stimulus programs, though they did not deal with immigration services. Questions remain over whether the orders will ultimately be successful in carrying out Trump's aims.

  18. Hello, I'm needing help from people who's had interviews lately please. Do you need the petitioner Original Birth certificate for the interview since you uploaded it to the CEAC website for the NVC or do you just bring a copy of the petitioner Birth certificate? Also On the Stockholm Embassy Interviews checklist it says to bring your children's Birth certificate with you but I'm confused why or if thats only for children immigrating with you? Or if in general they need it. So people whose interview happened lately and has US Citizens children with your beneficiary do you need their birth certificate? Thanks so much in advance 😊
