We filed August 17, 2021. We just got an RFE asking for more evidence. The crazy thing is that the letter states “we have received the following documentation:

    bank statements

    joint leases

    affidavits

    tax returns for years 2018-2020

    This is not sufficient evidence.

As further evidence, we need you to submit the following:

    bank statements

    joint lease or mortgage

    affidavits

    tax returns

You may not submit evidence you have already submitted.”

What do I send then?! I’m so confused and calling USCIS didn’t help.

    Anyone have any advice?

Out of curiosity, how much of each did you send?

Here is basically what I submitted for my Spouse back when we filed. (Straight from the Table of Contents that I had right on top of everything)

I did modify this heavily to leave out names and personal info lol but I also wrote out in CAPS to explain things as well. Hope this gives you some idea on why they could be asking for similar things.

    Section 1: Fees & Forms

    • Original Money Order & Copy of Money Order

    • Original Form G-1145

      • 1x for HER

    • Original Form I-751

    • Copy of Form I-551 2-Year Conditional Green Card

    • 2x Passport Photos

Section 2: Proof of Living Together

    • Copy of Her Driver License, Front & Back

    • Copy of HerTriple Credit Report (THESE CREDIT REPORTS I FIGURED WOULD BE GREAT AS THEY SHOW YOUR RESIDENCIES PAST AND PRESENT AND HERS MATCHES MINE AS PROOF OF RESIDENCY SO TO SPEAK, OR WELL TO FURTHER SOLIDIFY IT)

    • Copy of His Driver License, Front & Back

    • Copy of HisTriple Credit Report (THESE CREDIT REPORTS I FIGURED WOULD BE GREAT AS THEY SHOW YOUR RESIDENCIES PAST AND PRESENT AND HERS MATCHES MINE AS PROOF OF RESIDENCY SO TO SPEAK, OR WELL TO FURTHER SOLIDIFY IT)

    • Copy of Marriage License & Certificate

    • Copy of Rental Lease from 2020 & 2021

      • Current Residence: Removed haha

    • Original Affidavit from Previous Address

      • Previous Address: Removed haha

    • Tax Transcripts for 2019, & 2020 (I THINK I ADDED 2018 AS WELL. MAY HAVE FORGOTTEN TO ADD IT HERE AS I ADDED MY 2018 TAX TRANSCRIPT AS A STARTING POINT SINCE SHE WAS NOT EVEN STATESIDE YET LOL)

    • Copies of Stimulus Letters for April 2020, March 2021, & April 2021 (OH YES, I SAVED THESE LETTERS SINCE THEY WERE ADDRESSED TO BOTH OF US AND I USED THEM AS PROOF AS WELL SINCE BOTH OUR NAMES WAS TIED TO THE ADDRESS ON THESE LETTERS AS WELL)

    • Copy of 2020 Census (ALTHOUGH THIS DIDN'T REALLY SHOW ANYTHING I DECIDED TO SHOW THE CONFIRMATION NUMBERS OR WHATEVER WAS PROVIDED FOR THAT TIME SO THEY COULD USE IT TO TRACK BACK TO OUR RESIDENCE LOL)

    • Health Coverage - 1095-B for 2019 & 2020 (NOT SURE IF THESE HELPED AT ALL WHATSOEVER BUT FIGURED MORE COULDN'T HURT)

Section 3: Proof of Shared Financial Responsibilities

    • Copy of Monthly Bank Statement for Joint Checking Account

      • March 2020, June 2020, September 2020, December 2020

      • March 2021, June 2021, and July 2021

  2. My wife had her Oath Ceremony Thursday Morning, just getting around to updating everyone.

Good luck to the rest of you. N400 will take priority over ROC so no worries and prep for combo interviews. Heck, they didn’t even have my wife’s ROC files ready just her N400 so they skipped her ROC altogether and focused on her N400. Have a copy of your files on hand just in case as well.

Sorry for the late reply. Yeah, everything started updating with transfers and everything. Hell, she even got the paperwork for the transfer in the mail, as well as the approval letter for the ROC that also said they will not be sending her the ROC 10yr GC since she passed the N400.

We also recently found out that my wife's Appointment in Columbus is like the 2nd week of February. I forgot the actual date lol but she has her letter.

Good evening folks. N400 and i751 combo interviews were held today at Houston. The CO was kind enough to get me an ADIT stamp as well. The n400 case online has updated to 'Oath will be scheduled'. The i751 has not changed as of yet. But CO did mention I was approved for both.

WOOO!!!!! Yeah, online everything will update all at once. My wifes statuses for ROC all changed liek a day or two later after the interview and I think now she is about to get every status change in their letter form hahaha. Same will probably happen as well.

Guys. My I-751 case was approved on the same day I had my n-400 interview on Dec 9th. It was a combo interview after I reminded the officer I had a pending I-751. I was “grilled” for 2 hours but at the end of the interview, the officer gave me a big smile, congrated me, and wished me good luck in the US. I checked my USCUS account and the status for I-741 and N-400 both got updated. I am just waiting on the oath ceremony to be scheduled. Thanks for everybody’s support and help! I wish you all get approved real soon!

Awesome! Hope you have your ceremony before the end of the year.

AWESOME! Hopefully this means the i751 is approved and a second interview isn't necessary. LETS GOOOOO. Please keep us posted on when you get notified about your oath

Yeah, she received two updates today about her ROC but ended with the ROC being approved. Maybe tomorrow she will get an update about her Oath Ceremony being Scheduled.

  7. 9 minutes ago, Elena & Craig said:

OldUser above mentioned that sadly it is not a given at all that they will conduct a combo, especially if the invitation is only for N-400. Having I-751 pending is already a sufficient reason to not approve both on the spot. Then you say they did not have your ROC folder on hands to work with it. Also the officer may not have the right Tier credentials to conduct both.
Anyhoo CONGRATS to her for passing N-400. Just a waiting game with I-751 now.

Oh yeah for sure. No discrediting that other user at all. I know it happens. We know a couple of other couples that filed and had the same notifications and letters as we did (Theirs were Texas) and ours is Ohio. They did bother Interviews whereas, we did not. So, based on that I cannot completely say whether it is right or wrong just will depend on the Field Office, or the Officer it seems. I mean, we don't care as long as she passed her N400 exam haha. That was the important part. :D

Thanks for the congratulations. My wifes palms were soaked after it and now she is both relieved it is finally over but confused on the pending approval when her friends were just approved lol. (I understood why she just has a hard time understanding it lol)

  8. Okay, we just got home. Here is an update on how my wifes Interview had went. Long story short is that she passed the N400 Exam and it is currently pending approval.

I was sweating parts of it lol and I am also bad at remembering things so here is what I do remember.

So for some reason we only did the N400 interview due to our USCIS location not receiving her ROC application. That is why she is pending because they need to approve that before they can approve her N400.

She started off reading a tablet that said something about "Which or What State has the largest population in the United States?"

Then her first attempt at writing was supposed to be like "California has the most people" but she wrote California have most people.

Then her second attempt was something about New York but she wrote it as Newsyork not realizing the s was supposed to be a space and that New York is actually two words, and she missed a word or two for the rest of that sentence.

Her last attempt though was about Washington (Later I found out she honestly thought they were talking about Washington D.C. lol) and she got this one correct. Cannot remember if it was about Washington being the father or if it was about Washington State though.

After this it was immediately into the Questions and she answered the first 6 correct. Hell, I don't even remember what they asked her and when I asked her about it, they were completely different than what I had thought they were lol.

After the questions they jumped immediately into the N400 application to correct anything that needed correcting and then during the first like 40ish questions that needed to be basically "No" she ended up saying "Yes" to owing taxes on the Federal, State, or Local level and I was behind her shaking my head no and the Immigration officer asked her about Taxes that led her up to stating no she didn't owe any taxes and she pays her taxes in full. It also led to my wife being asked a surprise question not apart of the original 6 and she got asked out of the blue if she knew when income taxes were due. lol Luckily, the wife caught on and knew the answer.

We were then asked if we had any other papers to submit for further evidence and being the prepared type that I am... I had two books made up for this interview. 1x for the ROC with updates on everything that we did since the filing of her ROC, as well as a book for her N400 with updates notating everything we have done between the filing of her N400 and today to also include a very detailed summary on what she also or well I made her leave back to Vietnam to see her Parents for 4 weeks. (Her mom was having heart surgery so I made her return).

So, she passed her exam and was given a letter stating that she had passed and her approval was pending. If they need anything else they will send us a letter and if she is approved then they will mail her a letter stating her Oath Ceremony.

Also, to note apparently since I was not sure traveling to Puerto Rico is not considered leaving the Country just in case anyone else was interested and wondering about that.

  9. My wifes scheduled appointment is at 1230 this afternoon. Will let you all know how she does. She has all 100 hundred n400 questions memorized but super nervous to which she usually tends to forget her English so this is gonna be kind of interesting to see how she does since I won't be able to assist her with them this time around. lol

  10. 49 minutes ago, theblooray said:

Good luck! How do you know she'll be having both interviews? Any letters indicating such or are you assuming they're going to do a combo?

So, if you have the ROC pending and you get scheduled for the N400 they will do the ROC Interview first, then when they pass that move straight onto the N400 Interview right after. That is why when we see a lot of people file for their N400  they see that their ROC gets transferred, it is mainly for that reason. I am in LIN so I have only seen the Texas ones transferred but yeah, that is how it works. To piggyback off this, another person I know who has been like 1 month apart from my Filings just had his wifes ROC and N400 Interview and that is exactly how he described it. So yeah, both interviews same day at once. You will get the N400 interview setup and it only states the N400 info and nothing else about the ROC info so people still need to make sure they take their spouse because of the ROC Interview as well.

  11. 23 minutes ago, theblooray said:

The thing is, the n400 interview letter does not ask for the spouse to be present. We are just expected to assume both interviews are going to take place and take our spouses with us. A little misleading imo that could result in a lot of delays.

I would not say it is misleading as it is the Interview Scheduled for the N400. Sure, they could re-word it or add on something about if you have a pending ROC (forget form number) just to make sure the Spouse shows up as well. Then again, this is a US Government Agency. They're definitely not going to hold our hands or hand out any hints to make it easier for us. lol

  12. For anyone interested, I just got off the phone with a friend whose Wife just had her interview today. Theirs was in Texas and he said that they did their ROC Interview first, approved her and then they had him sit in the corner so his wife could take her Naturalization Test right after and she passed it as well. He said it seems some locations do same day Swear Ins if you have a Morning Appointment that is early. So yes, it seems that if you file your N400 while your ROC is pending, they do both Interviews together.

Hi everyone. I’m an October 2021 filer and sent my N-400 this Oct. What’s the dealio with everyone being so concerned to make sure they start studying civics the sooner the better? Unless I’m missing out something everything is pretty straight forward with these 100 questions. Do you need to reply short and to a point? If so there is really nothing to study. I uploaded an app for training to only realize I already know the whole bunch from what they ask anyways, not to brag or anything. If they need the whole essay type for an answer then it’s a different thing. Do they require that? Thanks

My Wife knows nothing about the US lol. Reviewed the 100 questions with her and there were some I didn't even know either lol but for my Wife the sooner she can study and comprehend the English the better. For her, she knows maybe the first 30 questions I believe and that is if she can see them on paper. When I ask her the questions out loud she struggles with it. I know quite a few who needs to study early, and no worries I wouldn't see you as bragging but yes there are people who know nothing about the USA or even the Politics of the USA, etc. My wife has to study for it and most of the Vietnamese she has met have also had to study for it as well. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if she fails it the first go round because she forgets her English when she gets Nervous so that is another hoop for her to surpass as well. lol

They don't require an essay just the 10 random questions, and the part where they will say a sentence and you need to write it down. (If I understand it right.) I think there might even be where they show a sentence and you need to prove you can read it as well. Don't remember it but I know she can read and write in English pretty decent.

Geez that’s quick I better start studying just submitted my N400 application this morning and got my receipt date and biometrics reused pdf notices online!!

I know a couple that filed in TX as well a day after I filed my wifes N400 online and they got their Interview scheduled 1 month faster than ours. They filed August 2022 and their appointment notification was in October? and their interview is now this month - November. I reckon anyone filing for the N400 should definitely start studying the questions.

Awesome! I’ll be following your case since I’m in Columbus and I’m assigned to Nebraska too. Will be filing for N400 sometime in February 2023.

    Right on!

Feel free to dm me. I am currently trying to find and create a list of most common n400 questions asked for the Columbus (Ohio in General) and once my wife has her interview I will see if she can remember them and add them to my list I am making as well. So far, I have found very few people listing the questions they have recieved but there does seem to be some common ones overlapping.

August 2021 ROC filer here, Texas service center. Filed N400 online on 08/01/2022. As of today, the ROC tracker reads : Fingerprints were taken.

N400 tracking reads actively reviewing. I personally don't care too much at this point. It'd just be a little helpful and put the mind at ease to be able to travel with a valid GC.

If it helps, my wife and I re-entered the US through Seattle, WA and TSA had no issues with her expired GC since she had her extension papers. Hell, I you should have seen their faces when she explained she brought back 4 luggage of almost a years supply of ramen and pho with some frozen fish back from Vietnam. Yeah, I knew what was going to happen and she talked their ears off and just kept talking about the food the entire time... lol Safe to say her and her food made it through. roflmao.

The key is to have both the expired Green Card and the Extension Letter together along with passport.

  17. Here is an update on my Wifes ROC and N400.

Here ROC still states the same ole received but we just got back from Vietnam to check out her Scheduled N400 Letter since we got notification about it last week on the 18th and her N400 is scheduled for December 9th, 2022, at the Columbus, OH Field Office. I am just going to assume that they will be doing all of her interviews, and everything at once on this date.

I doubt her ROC will be changing now that she has an N400 Date scheduled. Now just gotta help her study these 100 questions over the next 6 weeks. lol

What is better for N400. Send it online or printed ? Please share your experiences :) thank u

Honestly, and this is just my personal opinion, but I would think doing it online is easier and more efficient. When filing online the process is smooth and automates the 24 page document for you. (Believe it was 24 it was a lot) and after submitting the online form once it is pending it will auto-generate both your receipt and my wife also got her biometric waived letter auto-generated as well a day after filing. That said, I would say filing online is better rather than paying for USPS, etc and waiting for it to arrive, risking lost in mail, waiting for them to scan everything into the system, etc. We filed online on a Sunday and everything was automated thereon. Also, you can also upload more files as well after if anything needs to be submitted.

I would love to provide screenshots but it is linked to my wifes phone who just landed in Vietnam for 4 weeks. lol

No movement on my ROC application at SRC since biometrics reused on 22nd September , NOA date 8/25/21

started my n400 application online and at evidence section.
@WillieT1986 what evidence did you use?

For the Evidence About Marriage portion, I used a copy of all my Rental Agreement Leases with our Names and Signatures on them, my Veterans Group Life Insurance Policy that shows the policy and my Beneficiaries with her being listed as the majority, IRS Transcripts again lol (Although it asks for them already but hey they can get them again lol) Joint Bank & Credit Card info, as well as out Auto Insurance Policies, and our joint Car Loan.

For the Additional Evidence, I added our 2020 Census Letter because I know they can utilize that reference number to see what info was listed for this household back during the 2020 Census, a picture of us at a VA Hospital getting our 1st Covid Vaccine shot together, copies of our Covid Cards that shows they were done through the VA Hospital, as well as her being on my AT&T Account as an Authorized User and being on my Phone Plan since I have them all online listed as our names not just our phone numbers.

I did what I could and some of these I also used for her ROC as well so just a lot of repeat from ROC Evidence lol

Update on my husband's case (kind  of):

We applied for his naturalization two weeks ago and his I-751 case was transferred a couple of days afterwards to NBC. His citizenship case shows "actively being reviewed" but I'm not entirely sure if that's accurate lol

Ours is on the exact same boat lol

My buddy whose SRC was transferred found an article online explaining that SRC was heavily backed up and the transfer to NBC was to lessen the load and hopefully speed up those files transferred as well. He is thinking that those transferred will definitely be done quicker hopefully.

Nice! Seems LIN is definitely varying for sure. My wife has a friend in New Jersey that filed who was also LIN after we did and they already got their 10yr. Soo seems the system is definitely varying in a very very odd way. Who knows, you might not wait as long as we did, or well are haha.
