We were actually able to get me added to my wife's insurance prior to me getting my SSN; once we had a copy of our marriage certificate, we were good to go.  They had said that once I got my SSN, they wanted a copy of it (so when it arrived we passed it along).

We also got married two days after entering. Before marrying it's recommended to apply for SSN in maiden name. Once the SSN arrives you can be added onto your spouse's insurance.

I had two suitcases, one carry-on, and a backpack. No lists at all.

@alniki You won't have to redo the medical as long as your DS-3025 is marked complete.

The answer for me was to get married as soon as possible (I entered the US on my K1 on a Sunday; I got married at courthouse on Tuesday).  The fear of being uninsured was real.

My understanding is that copies of the x-ray and DS-3025 are in the envelope.  I had the CD with me just in case, but did not offer it and was not asked for it.  I did not have a list of goods with me (I flew with two bags, primarily clothing - the rest of my stuff was shipped an unaccompanied goods that left Canada once I had immigrated) and they did not really care about what I did have with me.  Honestly, POE was a breeze; I made it through customs faster while activating my K1 than if I had been standing in the general line.

Yes, they are separate!  There will be a big manila envelope in there with the department seal stamped on the envelope flap (the one that says do not open).  Just don't open that one.

Of course it's okay to open, your passport and sealed envelope (do not open this) are inside. Be careful while opening to avoid tearing the sealed envelope. I tore mine getting too excited with the scissors.

Ok, great - thank you! That all makes sense. And yes, he is living in the US, but yes, JUST in case i will get him to bring all that stuff.

Birth cert is just for beneficiary but it couldn't hurt to bring it for petitioner if you are able. You never know what the eff they might ask for, really. We brought mine and weren't asked for even a copy. If I remember correctly (it's honestly a blur what was officially asked for vs all the extra stuff we brought) you need petitioner proof of status, so if that's the case make sure to have at least one piece of documentation for that, which might be a birth cert.

As for domicile, is your petitioner not living in America? You only need this if they are living elsewhere and in that case I can't think of much that would warrant need for "original" - maybe a lease or something. You can bring original mailed copies of utility bills and such. Again, I live in the U.S. and brought copies of all this stuff JUST IN CASE and as expected my fiance wasn't asked for any of it.

Probably just another example of canned language that goes to all visa types. Just rechecked our P4 and saw that, I don't think I even noticed that when we did ours. As long as you were in the immigrant visa section (green heading background) and went through the steps: courier > pay $265 fee > book interview, you've definitely done everything correctly.

That's what I did too.  No "trip purpose" option.  I sure did spend some time panicking about that though.

Got my Packet 4 today. Just booked my interview May 22 ( 3 appointments left) and 29 (3 appointments left) Sending in your Packet 3 ahead of time works, and I suggest do it. Worse case they'll say you can't and then just submit it when you get the 2nd ready like others have suggested.

Interview was simple and fast! Really is the easiest part. And no they do not ever give the visa after/at the interview, they keep your passport and mail it back. Takes about a week or two if there are no hold ups in administrative processing.

It's on the P3 checklist dated 29-Mar-2016.  "two recent photographs".

I believe they want US sized passport photos.  Same as what's required for your medical.  But those photos are not what you need to send in for P3.  They are what you need to bring in for your interview.  For the P3 itself you only need to send your passport bio page copy, DS-160 confirmation page and the checklist.

For interview, complete copy of original I-129f petition along with ongoing evidence of relationship after the submission date. I make 15 - 20 more Walgreens photos with names, locations and dates on back showing ongoing relationship. Also, I include bank statements showing transactions together in the same areas, itineraries, scanned boarding passes, bank statements showing purchased airline tickets, another signed statement of intent to marry from both beneficiary and petitioner with wet signature, a letter affirming to affidavit of support and that you still have the intention of supporting and going through with the relationship, copy of recent passport stamps, etc.

Is this overboard? Probably. But you know... this is a pretty serious commitment to a person. If your initial packet was extremely strong, then they may not ask for much or even spend more than 5 minutes at the interview.

My CAEC tracker finally updated today.  I sent in P3 immediately rather than waiting a day, and about 2.5 hours later received my P4.
    Interview May 15, 07:30am! YAY!!

READY at Consulate on March 8th.
