Some of the less common ones that have passed through my doors are: an african grey parrot who was really really vicious and liked to say "oh f it" a lot, a tarantula (I was minding him), a terrapin, and a salamander. Right now though just the dog and two cats - oh does anyone need a 12 week old puppy by the way - I cannot get that little sod to stop biting my feet.

Seriously, why can't Obama find anyone who is ethical, honest, devoted, non-hypocritical, or just plain human. Either he is attracted to scum in general, or he is totally clueless. Although I think he is a buffoon, I did make a decision to give him a chance and see what he produced. So far he has managed to spend his way into the history books (and there was me thinking it was Bush who had never met a check he couldn't sprawl over), and recruit or attempt to recruit a slimy pack of corrupt wasters. Pillock.

she's probably got stretch marks to rival the grand canyon
She might be a single mom for a while
... like throwing a sausage down 5th Avenue.....

The neighbours of the girl are saying that it's possible the kid isn't his. Apparently her Mum has let her have three or four guys stay over.
that mother (only in that she pushed a baby out) needs to be prosecuted. What a nutcase. Way to go mother of the year - you raised a ####### !!

That boy just looks completely clueless....but the girl....she knows what's up....hmmmm. I think Madame Cleo is right...I don't think that boy is really the father.
This is really disgusting. She looks much older than him. He looks like he's nowhere near 13. They're both stupid kids, with irresponsible parents who will be a public charge for the rest of their lives.
Indeed. Hello tax payers, you are now shelling out for two children who have parents who don't give a hoot for what their kids get up to, who have no control over said kids, and who are clearly too stupid and irresponsible to be parents. But they will take your cash for their mistakes. Failures.

oh whatever - as if the next in line to the throne is going to be herded around on coach. Would any President do it? no. Should a future king do it? probably not. Labour MP's need to all die quickly to save the UK from becoming an even bigger cesspit than it already is.

I have to ask, did you believe masturbation would make you blind?
They say love is also blind which explains why I used to love myself so much.
Where you told that too?
I don't think it's just a sexual education failure by the parents. Quite honestly if one has greater expectations of oneself (ie a mind on a career and education) then one is much less likely to engage in sexually risky practices.
... sex education consisted of "never ever let a dirty naked man touch you unless he is your husband".It is acceptable if he is fully clothed, however. Maybe dressed something like this?
Way to go kid. I also read that a 12 year old kid had a baby with a different 15 year old girl. What is wrong with the 15 year old girls over there?Don't you think that you have just extrapolated a nonsensical conclusion from extremely limited data?
Need English translation please.
Two examples is not a good basis for suggesting that there is something 'wrong' with the 15 year old girls in the UK.
oh come on, if 15 year old girls in the UK aren't getting pregnant, attending sex parties, beating eachother up in organized fights, stealing, smoking and drinking, and commiting as much crime as possible, then they are sleeping off their hangovers and drug induced comas.

So you think ignorance and fear work better to deter sexual activity in minors? Got to hand it to you, that's a very perverse idea
oh get a sense of humor madame cleo. My post contained fond memories of a funny but somewhat deranged nun. To be honest though, sex education hasn't done much to stem the flood of teenage pregnancies, STDs and the like has it? Whilst ignorance is not an option, fear certainly is. If parents these days actually parented, rather than pushing out babies and literally dragging them up, we wouldn't have 13 year olds screwing around.

It is disturbing on so many levels.
It's disturbing that the media give such prominence to what is a very difficult situation for this family and all this attention will have consequences to all concerned as time goes on.
It's disturbing because the parents of these two kids not only failed their children but are compounding the failure by allowing such ready access to these children by the press.
It will probably continue to be disturbing because there is a possibility that this boy isn't the father of the child which prompts some even more disturbing questions.
It's disturbing because I don't see how either of the baby's parents can possibly care for this baby without proper responsible oversight from a mature adult which is something that seems to be totally lacking in this scenario.
Luckily this is not an every day occurrence, not even in the UK. However, it does suggest that there is a culture of ignorance about the emotional consequences of sexual activity as well as the physical consequences. It suggests that at least for some parents there is a failure to communicate to children that sex is not just about pleasuring oneself and that once two people are involved in sexual activity (as apposed to masturbation where there are not really any consequences) there are life changing consequences on all levels. There also seems to be a failure to understand the value of one's own body and the value of life beyond procreation.
I somewhat doubt however that these failures will be addressed. There will be the 'shock horror' reaction and then everyone will return to doing things exactly as they have before.
... not according to the teachings of the nuns who schooled me. "dirty touching" as they called it, is one of the worst things you can do, and you will definitely go blind and get big spots like acne on your face (Sr. Rita went on to add that most girls who did this terrible thing, rarely got husbands). I just wanted everyone to be aware. Oh and one more thing, sex education consisted of "never ever let a dirty naked man touch you unless he is your husband". Still, only one pregnancy that I knew of in my school and she was 16 and dating a boy for a few years.

Stoning to death is the usual punishment for this.
This girl actually got OFF easy with prison and flogging. I am sure some were calling for her to die to save the family name from disgrace.

a very valid point

Yes it does suck totally but like others have said she knew the law, and shouldn't have accepted a ride (honestly who accepts rides from strangers anyway???). Also does anyone remember that American kid in Singapore like 10+ years ago who got caned for spitting gum on the sidewalk (just googled it and it was for vandalism)?? Pretty draconian IMO as well...
If the kid didnt know the laws then a parent or guardian should have made them clear. In the case of the Saudi woman, she accepted a ride from a man, and that is a complete no-no. When you break the law in Saudi, you are punished severely. Whilst most of us will be shocked at how a rape victim is treated, she would have been well aware of the consequences of being found with a strange man.
I'm sorry but the idea that accepting a ride could be a crime - well a Saudi woman knows better - but she wasn't tried for accepting the ride - she is being punished for adultery. Gang raped and she's punished. To justify a gang rape...like, yeah it's her fault and she deserved it...now that's totally messed up.
with all due respect, you need to read posts more carefully and fully understand what was posted, rather than assuming an intention or inference that isn't actually there. She was gang raped because she got into a car with a strange man. No one here is saying she deserved it or it is her fault. The law in Saudi is clearly laying blame at her door, and my post merely observed that Saudi law is one of the most severe and restrictive, and things we find repulsive and unjust, are viewed in a completely different light there. A woman accepting a ride from a man unknown to her or not a family member is not a crime here in the US, or in most countries for that matter, but IT IS IN SAUDI, whether we agree with it or not.

jeez - liberals really need a good kicking. How is this lawsuit even entertained?

Angelina will be spitting feathers !!! She will need to adopt another 4 and conceive a set of triplets in the next 4 weeks to keep herself in the running.

this is just the beginning. The elderly in the UK wait years for certain treatments or operations, and some naturally die before their hospital letter arrives in the mail. So many are misdiagnosed and simply not informed of the latest treatments that could cure or help them, instead left with older less effective measures so costs can be kept to a minimum. Welcome to socialized healthcare !!! Do not think for one minute that this is a solution - with so many people in the US, care will certainly be rationed, and the public will simply not be told about certain procedures that could help them or save their lives. If you have no healthcare right now then something is better than nothing, but I for one will not use a socialized system when the private one has already helped me in what could have been a life threatening situation. I have a cousin in the UK who has fibroids. She was rushed to the emergency room recently with terrible pains, and she thought something had ruptured or similar. After spending a night in the hospital, the doctor on shift told her that he could inject her through her naval to shrink the problematic fibroid. Luckily, she decided to call her private healthcare doctor who went nuts, and asked for the doctor's details. Apparently, she should have been offered a much more expensive operation as the naval injection would have brought on a very early menopause and rendered her unable to bear children - she is 31. Shocking.

fully comprehensive at no cost to myself and hubby. No co-pay either unless you see a specialist and that is $10. Some prescriptions are free too - its a great plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield.

People make conflicting choices everyday...
What if one of us decided that the whole K1 thing was just too much hassle...?
Even if you made the decision on sound practical grounds, wouldn't at least a part of you wonder what you missed out on?
That women can and do feel this about abortion isn't terribly different.
Paul, you are really reaching with this one. I hardly think "terminating" a K1 app, and the hindsight thereafter can be compared to the termination of a human life, with women wondering what they "missed out on". The K1 is trivial, the unborn human life is not.

Yeah! Total Liberal BS! Yeah!
Liberal or conservative, it doesn't really matter. I still say someone's personal life shouldn't come into play in their professional life. Unless the individual in question is doing something illegal or enforcing their ideas on others, it's a personal issue.
Agreed. Then again, facebook pics are only private when the account holder makes them so.
There's obvious reasons for someone in a position of authority to not make publicly available material that challenges that authority or which undermines respect in their position.
At my school I never knew what my teacher's got up to off campus, I think I would have been pretty shocked if I discovered on the internet that they had this whole other life - involving wild drinking and promiscuity.
Its not hard to imagine what could happen if a schoolkid were to find say... pictures of his Spanish teacher doing bellyshots off a Tijuana hooker and decided to circulate them among his classmates.
Its not difficult to understand why a teacher should be savvy enough to avoid such a situation. After all, Michael Phelps just got hauled over the coals for a picture showing him smoking a bong. It's not much different.
I have no idea what the thinking was behind this particular instance - the gun image is probably somewhat inappropriate in the messages it conveys, but who knows....
I absolutely agree that, teachers need to maintain their them self publicly in such a way to keep the trust of the school. But we are not talking about a lady pole dancing in her off hours we are talking a bout a lady being photo graphed doing what everyone from the Presidents on down do publicly, handle fire arms.
If people are suggesting that the mere display of a firearm with a scope in a public photo is now going to be considered "out of bounds" ...
We really are getting wacky in this "new standard" of what's good and bad, in this country.
Think about it, if this lady was competing in the Olympics on the Shooting team, she would have to keep it a secret from her students.
well said Danno.
-
If that was in the UK the armed police would be on her doorstep lol. In a crackdown on gun crime they are searching all UK facebook/myspace accounts for pictures of people posing with guns.
now that's scary.
... because all the villains in the UK are posting their pics on FB holding a gun. Honestly, I am ashamed of the UK and the stupidity of the police force.

Society did NOT fail this woman. This woman failed herself in a despicable way. She was old enough to jump into bed with some guy and get knocked up. She is an adult and as such, should have made a decision to terminate long before 23 weeks. Society is not repsonsible for the ####### decisions that people make, and nor should it be blamed when a stupid 18 year old WOMAN makes herself an accessory to murder. If this haunts her for the rest of her life, so it should.
Wow.
You don't know this woman, all you know are a VERY few facts. To judge her on a few scraps of information is just wrong.
We don't know her situation, her frame of mind, her education levels, what the doctor told her...nothing. And let's not forget that teenagers have the ability to try and put things to the back of their minds thinking they have enough time.
The doctor may have told her what she wanted to hear in order to get her to pay him the money for the abortion.
We just don't know.
What she went through was appalling and I'm sure she will regret this for the rest of her life.
She was wrong, I agree, but I wouldn't judge her without having more facts.
the facts for me are clear. She was 23 weeks pregnant, arranged a termination, and watched her baby thrown in the trash. People have to be held accountable for their actions, and she stood by and let her baby be thrown away by a real sicko. Who does that?
Booking Flights With Pets
in United Kingdom
Posted
Magie, there are a number of factors to be taken into consideration before you can fly your pet to the US from the UK. Firstly, no pets can fly in the
main cabin - they must travel in the hold. They must also have a flight approved carrier to transport them. A vet must approve your pet for travel and it will need shots before it leaves the UK. The vet will provide you with a signed certificate of health, however, there is a wait required between the rabies shot and the actual travel. You need to contact your local vet in the first instance, then contact a company who deal in transporting animals (I will post the company I used later today). Your cat will not be allowed to fly unless all the above is complete. Its not cheap - the total for my 2 cats including vet and shots was $3,200 total. Expect all this to cost around $1600.
