good stuff yeah EAD is on the website as suitable ID, but I think you might be able to get it before that.

To get the full license - from the Florida DMV website "To obtain a Class E driver license, customers must pass the  Class E Driving Skills Test which consists of a series of maneuvers, listed below,  used to determine an applicants ability to safely operate a motor vehicle. To qualify for a driver license, customers must hold their learner’s license for one year (12 months) from the issuance date or must be 18 years old."

Did you do the eye test and the theory test to get the learner permit ? I already did the drug / alcohol test online, not 100% sure if i needed it but nice to have.

I did the eye test, which was just reading small letters, the theory test, which was pretty simple and the drugs and alcohol test which was annoying.  If you held a license else where they seem to let skip the drugs and alcohol test but if you’ve already done it then you’re all sorted

Out of interest has anyone tried to apply for a drivers license while in AOS ? The Florida dmv website leads you to believe its not possible, however under the Florida statutes it seems we are eligible to recieve one, at least a 12 month one. Im probably going to head down to the dmv soon based on what ive read !

I went and got a learners permit at the cape coral dmv on Monday with no problem at all.  Just make sure that you’ve got a piece of mail from two different places as evidence of residence and your EAD. I dont know what you need to do to get a full license might be worth a phone to ask.

I’m led to believe if you have an EAD you can get a license that will expire when your EAD does or if you’ve still got 60 days left on your K1 visa but again will expire when your k1 does.

Had biometrics done this morning, all i can is that they really are a very friendly and efficient office, in and out in less than 20 minutes, now the long wait for interview !

That’s great one more step in the right direction.  When i got it done it was incredibly quiet and I was surprised how fast it was.  I don’t think though that is where you go for your interview as that is the Application support center and not the field office, although I’m sure they’re just as friendly.

We were prepared for a long wait too because I also read that article, but we filed in September and we are being called in for an interview for February 18. We were shocked. She got her EAD/AP card in December. So far our wait times have been way off, from the estimates on the USCIS website, but no complaints here.

My AP/EAD has been approved, how long did it take you to actually get the physical card?  Also were you able to get a FL license with the EAD?

Hey ! Nice to see other Fort Myers peeps! Yeah the website says its a long wait, i read a local news article from last year that they got really backed up with a big influx of applications. I only filed in late December so wont be holding my breath anytime soon.

Good to hear from Fort Myers AOSers!  Yeah I’m not holding my breath about how long it’s going to take.  I really just hope it happens soon.  You should probably hear about your biometrics appointment soon though, if you haven’t already.  Keep us up to date on your progress, it always helps keep my spirits up!

Your local field office is based on your zip code and it might not be the closest one to you.

You can input it here in the top box and press search.

You don't get to pick though.

Unsure of if that's what a few of the posters above are thinking by the language being used....

Yes im aware of that, but the as above the timeline feature doesn’t have Fort Myers as an option for Local Field Office... but thanks for the helpful comment.

Oh but to answer your questions pay no attention to their wait time. We filed the AOS In September and my wife got her EAD/AP in December. We have been called up for interview on February 18. 9-24 months🙄

Oh and we live in Naples, but the Fort Myers office was not available on this website. So we picked Miami as our local office.

Wow that’s very comforting and that is incredibly fast!  Hopefully I won’t be too much longer then because we applied in October!  I had my Field office set as Tampa for ages, i didn’t realise that Fort Myers had an office till I searched it up 😂! Im up in Cape Coral so nice and handy!

Hope all goes well with your interview, really not long to go! Let me know how it goes!

  9. Got my biometrics done in November and about a month later it says im ready to be scheduled for an interview.  Tracking on Fort Myers field office says between 9-24months wait time 😭.

I can’t see many recent posts from people waiting on AOS from Fort Myers.  Is anyone else waiting or has been through Fort Myers?  Is it more likely to wait 9 months or closer to 24?  It’d also be good to hear from other people waiting so we can keep an eye on each others cases.  Im getting so bored waiting but hopefully my EAD/AP should be adjudicated upon in less than a month.

What does everyone else do to pass their time?

  10. I entered the country on a K1 visa.  Had my medical done in London less than 12 months ago and was told I didn't need any shots.  I am confused as to what I need to do with form I-693.  Do i need to include it in my packet?  If so, what do I need to fill in?  I've looked at other posts but couldn't find if I need to submit the form or just the 3025 form that was given to me at the medical.  Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

  11. I’ve seen a few of these posts but none were really the same as my situation.  I’ve just gotten married last Friday here and we are currently living with our inlaws and will continue to do so until we have stable jobs and are able to afford to go out on our own.

The problem I have is that my in-laws have decided to move to Florida from Indiana.  It was going to work out fine as we were supposed to be moving down on the 24th of July and we would just start the filings then, but now they’ve had the sale of their house fall through due to the buyer.  So the move is a bit up in the air as to when it will happen.

I would be applying for the whole 9 yards;  AOS, EAD and AP.  I would like to be applying for it all within the next two weeks because I’ve got two weddings back home in the UK next summer and would want my combo card asap so that I can work, travel and get my drivers license.  If the combo card comes in plenty of time im not too fussed on the AOS side of it, it’ll happen when it happens.

So my questions are as follows:

    1. How much will changing my address affect my processing times?

    2.  How long does it take for an EAD/AP combo card to process on average?

    3. Is it advisable to wait to process until we get to my new address or is the A11 not going to be too much hassle?

    thanks in advanced

It is okay, that question is often asked, and you likely won't be the last. It is time to move on from the K1 forums. You should now advance to the Adjustment of Status (AOS) K1/K3 VJ forums, including the SSN sub-forum. Yes, actually there are so many questions about SSN after the K1 process, there is a SSN sub-forum. I have asked the mod to move your question to that forum.

Good luck on your immigration journey.

Sorry, thought since I was here on a K1 visa and still not married this was the right place to post. I’ll keep that in mind for my next query. 😁

    Congrats!! 😊

I still don't have my Visa yet, but my interview is finally coming up in 2 weeks!! Almost there 😌

I noticed in your timeline that the state is Indiana - that's my fiancé's too! He's in Bloomington, an hour and a half from Indianapolis. Small world!

That’s awesome, it’ll come quicker than you think.  Love hearing about other hoosiers to be, I love my second home!

  14. I haven’t been on this post in a while but thought I’d jump back in to see how many have their visas now?  I just picked mine up yesterday and I’m so glad that this part is over.  Although there’s much more filings and waiting to come I’ll be able to do that with my fiancé/will be wife. Really exciting times and just wanted to thank the people in this thread for all their advice they’ve given so far as it’s helped me a bunch!

  15. I've got my interview on Thursday morning and have noticed a few errors on my fiance's fathers I134 (affidavit of support).  For instance, the salary that is inserted is different than the salary from the letter from his employer and he's typed into the box that asks "relationship to sponsor" "Fiance" when it should be "Daughters Fiance".

I don't know what to do about it, he sent me his pdf form to correct and then print and supplement the pages but it's going to look exactly as if that's what I've done since some of the pages will be A4 and some will be American letter paper.  any advice is greatly appreciated.
