It usually changes from 'ready' to 'administrative processing' to 'issued'. In a few instances it can change from 'ready' to 'issued'.
But regardless of what the status says there's always some administrative processing after interview at the background because they won't stick Visa into passport on the same day; it has to go through some processing.
Hi @nastra30 Help! My visa status changed to “issued” yesterday. Do I get notified by email when the passport is ready to pick up ? Or “issued” means is already available ? Im so lost. 🧐

My financial sponsor lost (he probably threw it away in the trash) the physical i864 that he signed for me in February.
Is this going to be a problem? Do they (the embassy at my spouse's visa interview) want to see original of this at the interview?
On travel.state.gov it says that (see attached photo) a scanned copy will suffice, and i have the scanned version on my computer so that sounds great.
But, in the interview letter we received last week, it said:
"Important Information:
You submitted forms and supporting documents to the NVC in electronic form. You must present the original forms and documents for review by the consular officer during your interview.
Please promptly read and follow all Interview Preparation Instructions located on the Department of State's web site at: https://nvc.state.gov/interview."
So uhh, which one is it? Will a scanned copy be good or am i screwed?
Hi!
In my case, The interview was at Santo Domingo and they only asked me for my original birth certificate and passport, didn’t ask for any other documents. They also keep My original birth certificate 😪 I wanted it back 😂 because it was really hard for me to get it!! But a friend of mine was only just asked for her original marriage certificate. SO, that varies a lot...

Thank you! It changed to administrative processing today.

Status should say Administrative Processing. Next status if everything goes after that will be Issued.
My status still shows “ready”, I guess it depends on the country you had you interview 🧐

Hi guys!
- does your visa status change right after the interview and What it’s supposed to say?
- Is there a way to track the location of your passport?
Thank you in advance

Wow... thank god your husband said something. Congratulations... i am so happy to read the final results "Approved". My husband is dominican we will be going to interview soon i hope. And for reasons like this is why i wanna be there. My husband was in the US for 2yr from a prior marriage petition so i know we will probably have a tougher interview. But iam prepared and ready!!
Thank you! 🙏 make sure to take every minimal paper you can find regarding your case, you never know what could be useful. Wish you the best 😊

Wow! That was really overwhelming to read. I applaud your husband's smartness and presence of mind. After getting a rejection, it is very common to break down and get upset. But your smartie saved you. He turned the whole decision around. So happy for you guys! Congratulations! 👍You got to give that man a treat!
Even though you are from a different consulate, reading your experience has given me so much hope and makes me feel like I did the right thing by asking my husband to be there with me during the interview. 🙂
Yes! Even though it’s not necessary to bring your spouse with you, I strongly recommend it. I wish you the best during your process. If you have any abnormally in your case make sure you research it before hand with your attorney.

Hi guys,
Just wanted to tell you about my experience during my visa interview.
First, let me provide a bit of background. When I was 15 years old I overstated my visa in the US with my Italian passport. I left with a volunteer departure before I meet the one year mark.
So, today was my visa interview at embassy in Santo Domingo. I was so nervous but my husband came to accompany me during the process. We get in and stand in line to provide some documents, that process took about an hour. Afterwards sent us to wait for our interview. We did not wait 10 mins when we were called.
The consul first asked us to provide all the evidence we had for our marriage. We provided a photo album, flight records, money sent, among other documents. He probably took 2 minutes looking through those when the questions started. He asked the following questions:
1- tell me about your relationship history.
2- he asked my husband how many times he has traveled to see me.
3- where have I travel and how long I've stayed at each location.
4- who my husband lived with.
5- was I ever arrested or detained by a police officer or immigration. (During this questions I explained that I was stopped by an immigration officer during my over stay)
6-where was I heading when I was stopped.
7-with who was I living during my stay and what did I do during that time. After we have answered all the questions, we waited approximately 20 mins. Then, he came back with my passport and a paper and said the worst thing in the world..."Unfortunately, you have a ten year penalty for over staying your visa. Your visa has been denied, you need to contact USCIS if you wish to continue with your case"
At this moment, I was in shock. I could not say anything... Honestly I was about to cry. Then my husband said "excuse me, may I ask you a question. Does the ten year penalty applies to her even if she was a minor during that time?" (We had done the research regarding this topic before applying for the visa) The consul seemed confused and took the paperwork and passport. We then waited for a few more minutes while him and his colleague reviewed something on the computer. Then he asked again if I was deported which I explained to him again that it was a volunteer departure. I provide the paperwork, he makes a copy and says "this information changes our decision, congratulations your visa has been approved!!"
I am so happy but this has been a Rollercoaster of emotions. This taught us that they could make mistakes and is very important to be well informed.
I hope this helps.

Is there anyone whose spouse is in the Dominican Republic and got their medical exam done already? I’m wondering about the price for someone who doesn’t have vaccination records. My husband is going this Wednesday and we want to make sure he has enough money to pay for the exam.
Hi! I went last week and it’s 165$ for someone who doesnt have a vacccination record. Plus 285$ for the rest of the medical exams. A total of 450$.

It depends. Some send it to the embassy and some others ask you to pick it up. When you call them for appointment, ask them about it and arrange your stay according to that. Some cities don't have panel hospitals, mine didn't so I had to travel to a different city to get it done.
Mine doesnt have a panel hospital either. Do you know why they send it directly sometimes and sometimes they Dont?
-
Hey!
Does anybody know if the panel physician send your medical examination results directly to the US embassy or they will give it to you to hand-carry to the visa interview? Thanks
