Guys you wont believe this... My appointment was today at 12:40pm in Fresno, CA. I drove 3 hours to get there (I'm at the farthest end of the county line) and I get there, get in line and .... they have to close down the service center to the public due to "unforeseen circumstances"

I'm not gonna lie, I cried :(  They say they'll send out a new interview notice in the next few weeks.. I was so close.

And today they updated that my card got sent out... so no interview I guess? I'm so happy

Oh, that would be amazing! Thank you so much!  It seems that many people only post when they first run into the issue and they don't come back to update on the outcome.

Approximately how late was your I-751? And how long after you filed the correct form did you get your interview?

So... I went today to my appointment and once I got there it got rescheduled due to the service center closing. They said "unforeseen circumstances" and they said my new interview will be a few weeks out... :( So stay tuned for that update.

    Here's my timeline tho:

    • I-90 accidentally submitted - 2020-08-14
    • I-751 submitted & received - 2021-03-26
    • Biometrics applied to case - 2021-04-21
    • Ready to schedule interview - 2021-12-22
    • Interview scheduled - 2022-01-04
    • Interview - 2022-02-01 / Postponed
    • Waiting for interview rescheduling....

USCIS is sending out updated NOA with a 24 month extension letter. You are likely to get one soon which will buy you 6 more months. If your extension letter runs out you can call USCIS and get an i551 stamp in your passport to show proof of your continued LPR status. Call USCIS and request an info pass appointment to get the i551 stamp about 30 days before your extension letter expires.

Remember your proof of your LPR expires not LPR status itself, you remain in status even after the extension letter expires.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the information and I'll be sure to be on the lookout for the 24 month letter. If I don't receive it, I will call for the appointment!

Since the LPR status doesn't go away, I'm fine to continue working and such? That's such a relief - I was overthinking it! :)

  5. I have a question - I'm filed with  NBC...

My extension letter is good until June 2022 - 18 month extension. I originally filed in August 2020 however I stupidly filled out the wrong form and had to resubmit my removal of conditions petition. My green card expired December 2020 and I resubmitted in April 2021. Anyways they received it and moved my biometrics info from that first petition that was denied to this new one. That's my last update. I'm concerned about only have a 18 month extension as I'm not sure if my extension will be long enough to cover my processing time... Is there anything I should be doing now about this? Or wait until closer to my extension date to see if I can get another?

    Thanks guys :)

  6. Hey guys! My situation is that back in August I filed for a green card replacement and didn't know to file form I-751. I had my biometrics appointment March 9th, and a few days ago I got a denial letter for my green card replacement however, I do have a paper stating my green card was extended an extra year (expired Dec 25/2020) with that notice attached. Now I have sent in my new package and am hoping the rest of the I-751 goes smoothly (I included my reasoning for it being late)

I'm currently employed but looking to move jobs in the next month or so. I have had an interview and they're interested in hiring me but I'm obviously going to have to have a background check done. Now, when I check my e-verify it states that I am okay in terms of status to be able to work. Does anyone know if there will be any issues during the background check? I am nervous that because I'm transitioning between the I-90 and the I-751 there could be a problem with that? But, perhaps not as I have the notice stating my residency is still extended a year.

If anyone has any ideas that would be amazing! I sent in a question to USCIS but I haven't heard back yet. Thanks guys, have a wonderful weekend!

A late JOINT I-751 will only be accepted with good cause to excuse the late filing.

So you MUST put a cover letter in, stating exactly why it is late.

Mistakenly filing the wrong form is a perfectly acceptable reason - it also demonstrates there was an intent to file in the first place. Get it in ASAP.

Thank you for replying. Mine is joint as we are still married, correct?

I've written a letter. I'm working on getting everything together right now and I will submit it today.

I can't believe I messed this up, I am so upset.

You get your original civil documents back, but not the original police certificate or medical report. Out of these two items, they only handed back the xray and vaccination records for me as well. I'm guessing you would need a new police certificate and medical when filing for aos and most likely done within the US when the time comes. Best to check with other threads though on Aos procedures.

They will mail the police reports back with your Visa.

Hey question... Did you sign up for the courier service through ais before or after your interview? Wanted to do courier but I'm a little paranoid of changing after interview since ais website says in fine print that changing addresses is no longer possible and courier option would be removed (the courier option isn't removed yet for me since they don't have tracking number assigned)

I signed up before my interview. I knew the strike was still going on at that point, but I wanted to be safe just incase it ended.

  10. My package has been delayed. It has reached Calgary but keeps getting delayed, now until the 10th of December. I called this morning to ask about any possibility to expedite this and she said they can't, however it WILL be delivered on the 10th - she said for sure. Works for me as I'm not planning on crossing the border until the 24th but still quite frustrating as it's sitting in Calgary and I'm only 2 hours away. Wish I could just drive up there and pick it up...

  11. I know some people had questions on what's required to pick up their passports through home delivery, I just received my tracking number and found this:

    Courier-Return Service

All relevant Visa documents will be returned using the selected service (i.e. pick up at point-of-service location or delivery address).

Note: Each application for a U.S. visa is unique. Information regarding how long the U.S. Consular Section adjudication process cannot be provided by this service. Once the U.S. Consular Section turns over the Visa documents to the courier, it takes up to 3 business days for the documents to be ready for pick up or delivery.

Document Return Service using a Pick Up Location

Applicants are notified by email when visa documents are ready for pick-up at Canada Post Office. The courier will only release the parcel to an adult.

    1. Applicants retrieving their personal documents must present:
      • Proof of address
      • Proof of identity with any of the following forms of documentation:
      • Shipment tracking number (available on this site or in the email confirming shipment)
    2. Applicants may authorize a third party to retrieve their documents.
      • At the time of scheduling the appointment, the applicant must provide the name and address of the authorized person.
      • At the time of pick up, the authorized person must identify themselves with the documents listed in item #1 above.

Any passports not retrieved within 15 days will be returned to the originating Consular Section.

Home or Office Delivery Service within Canada

After booking their appointment on this website, applicants may purchase an optional service to have their documents delivered to an address within Canada.

    1. The Courier will attempt to deliver your package up to 1 time to the requested address. When delivering to a home address, the courier will only release the parcel to an adult who is willing to sign for the documents.
    2. When delivering to a business address, the courier will release the parcel to the personnel authorized to sign for packages.
    3. If the Courier is unable to make a successful delivery, a Delivery Notice Card will be left in the addressee’s mail receptacle indicating that the documents can be picked up at the closest designated Canada Post office. To recover your documents, please refer to the section above Document Return Service using a Pick Up Location.

Any passports not retrieved within 15 days will be returned to the originating Consular Section.

  12. I just checked my status on CEAC and it's update to this:

    Quote

    Issued

    Immigrant Visa Case Number:  xxxxxxxxxxxx
    Case Created: 27-Jun-2018
    Case Last Updated: 30-Nov-2018

Your visa is in final processing. If you have not received it in more than five (5) working days, please go to http://usvisa-info.com/en-CA/selfservice/us_courrier_information to track your courier waybill.
