Some countries allow you to file directly with the US consulate overseas which speeds up the process, I think its someone else in the group who did this

yes we both live outside of the US. I would imagine we will now deal directing with the embassy here.

I just received notification that OUR CASE IS DOCUMENTARILY QUALIFIED!!!! I just submitted for the first time yesterday!  

Case completed! document qualified! interview time. FINALLY

Thank you Boiler and Missileman for your comments. I noticed an update on my wife's case this morning. The update was not due to any inquiry by wife or myself. I am hoping this is a good sign and that the case is moving forward.

We got our case number today from NVC!!! Thank goodness! 3 weeks and 1 day after NVC received our case from USCIS. One step closer!

If you do the medical without the embassy/consulate letter that you will receive when the interview is scheduled, even if done by an approved doctor, you risk having to do it over and pay the fees again.  It's not an official medical exam for immigration purposes without that letter.  When you called the doctor's office (assuming it was one on the approved US immigration list for your country) did you tell them it was for US immigration medical?  Did they ask if you had an interview appointment letter?
 
Waiting at this last stage of the process sucks, but we're all in the same boat.  Hang in there and soon it will be over.

That last sentence is incomprehensible to me.  

With finances an issue and the i130 approval bringing the CR1 closer, odds of approval are slim(er). 

The stress of waiting is really getting to me.
  The Nebraska service center keeps pushing back NOA2 dates.  I really hope soon to have an answer.  I have been working in Afghanistan (American Contractor) for 13years and married to my wife for 7years,  My time off from work is spent going to our home in Thailand which if all added up from the time we have been married is just over a year of time spent together.  We are all set up and ready to move back the US and just waiting for the process to complete so we can finally be together forever.  She has 2 kids that will be going with us.  So if I get stuck in RFE, she will not understand and will just accept that it will take longer, but I will be very disappointed that I will have to stay longer in our current situation.  I have been working here to long and really need to leave.  Hopefully soon we will know.

I haven't done it during this process but before we were married, my husband was denied a visitor visa from Romania because he didn't own a home and have sufficient ties to his country 😕

YAY CASE COMPLETE!!!! My NVC process has taken a bit longer for no apparent reasons, they received my case on 1/22/19. Does anyone know how long it takes for them to notify you of an interview date? (Not how long for actual interview) Just wondering if we'll find out soon the date or it could be a week before the interview...

Congrats!! NVC's website says that the interview will scheduled after case complete, but does not state a number of days or weeks to do this...  NVC website also says that interviews are scheduled at least one month out, maybe more if the embassy in your country is backed up.  You can check your specific country forum to see others' experiences with this.  For Brazil, the interview is typically set for about two months later.  We received case complete yesterday, so we are hoping for an interview to be set in the next two weeks, mid-May, most likely for mid-July in Rio.  So we are planning on doing the medical and biometrics while we are in Brazil together for a visit in June.  Good luck!

Congrats!!! I think NVC will start to schedule June interviews next week. It depends on how busy your embassy is

I can only hope and pray a case number gets assigned soon. Patience is definitely not one of my virtues. lol

and thank you so much for the advice. I actually just got off the phone with them now. No case number yet. NVC received on 04/23/19. Hopefully it doesn't take the full 8 weeks to assign the case #. I'm hoping to have your luck and get that number around the month mark. :) Thanks and congrats again!!
