using CEAC so electronically! I would rather by mail it seems easier haha, but I can only use CEAC for my embassy

Oh wow I didn't realize you don't have a choice in the matter! I think I would rather mailing too. Oddly enough when i called today the 1st person said "oh you are electronically but I can't access your case so let me transfer you". Then I waited on hold again and they said sorry, we don't know why they transferred you, we don't have a case # yet.....

Search here on VJ for threads about how to show bona fide marriage relationship... you will see lots of ideas on how to co-mingle finances even when you live in different countries.  And you can file 2018 taxes as married filing jointly, search for threads on that as well, you will learn a lot on how to do it.  Good luck!

Again thank you! I find this site hard to navigate but I'll try searching. I'm wondering what lengths we really need to go to to proove bona fide marriage. My situation is a bit tricky in the sense that I'm not filing taxes as I'm on disability. I just feel in my heart, how can they really deny the spouse of a US citizen from coming..I know it happens but still. I feel like it should be understood that people who live in different countries aren't going to have a lot of co-mingling. Before I found this July filer group and was posting in the general CR1 forums, that's the message I kept getting from senior members...

    docs for beneficiary:

    passport

    birth certificate

    police certificates

    passport photos

    marriage certificate

(all of these are listed on the NVC website)

    additional evidence of marital relationship:

photos and boarding passes and hotel receipts and passport stamps from our four visits since filing I-130

Christmas cards received addressed to both of us at our address in the US

additional evidence of co-mingling of finances and assets such as utility bills in both of our names, will, living will

Portugese language proficiency exam results (for petitioner)

(Sometimes this is referred to as side-loading additional evidence.  We front-loaded a lot of evidence already with the I-130 seven months ago.)

I-864 completed and ready to go with all supporting documents, including 2018 tax return filed as married filing jointly, three years of tax transcripts, W2s for each year, pay stubs for last six months, letter from employer certifying job of petitioner and salary

all of the above we have scanned in PDF vertical format and flattened to reduce size of the total files as there is a limit you can upload on CEAC

We cannot complete the visa application form (DS-260) and pay the fees until the NVC case number has been assigned, in about 3 months, but we are ready to upload everything as soon as the case number is assigned, and have all the information needed to complete the DS-260.  Our plan is to submit everything electronically within a day or two of getting the NVC case number.

    Good luck!

Thank you, this is much clearer for me.

I wish we had co mingling of finances but we have literally none. We are in different countries and the last nime I was there we tried to add me to his bank acct bit were told I needed an identity # in his country. No utility bills, no leases, no filing tax returns together....

We are hoping for October, but this process is so crazy and unpredictable.  It could be sooner than then, or later.  We are going to have to be flexible as to dates, hoping for the best but being realistic since anything can happen.  We have all our documents ready to submit to NVC, but it can take three months from NOA2, the petition approval, before we have an NVC case number so that we can upload them via CEAC.  Then a month to review the documents and send the file to the consulate in Rio for the interview stage, medical, etc. So many things can happen to delay the process.  I would not suggest buying any tickets unless they are refundable or you can sell them easily if things don't work out.  We are not going to buy airline tickets for my husband to come to the US until he has the visa in hand, in his passport.  All the best!

Carmel, can you post a list of docs you have at the ready?

So I called today with regards to my letter and they told

me exactly what it said. In 30 days it will be registered and they will request the asset forms and then send TO our consulate . The lady was very helpful.

Not sure why some people are waiting 2 months. But the lady was very helpful .

what is the minimal asset amount you have to list? Does anyone know?

Let me know how it goes. Mine was approved 12/21, arrived at NVC 1/22, still no NVC case number. I call NVC once a week. Every person there says allow 8 weeks to be assigned case number.

So we finally got a letter through from Texas. Took about 4 days to come through. They said that it will take 30 days from the data of the letter to get passed and processed by the NVC then it will be transferred to our counseluate in Switzerland.

they even stated if it takes longer that 30 days. We can Harras them to get it together

Right, 30 days to get to NVC and if it takes longer you can harrass. Not 30 days to go through NVC. Once NVC receives it they are allowed 8 weeks to process it into their system and assign a case number. I'm on week 4 and still no case number, I call every week. Then once case number is given you can start filing the required documents and pay fees.....

    Texas Service Center

    Estimated Time Range

Permanent resident filing for a spouse or child under 21         -        5 Months to 7 Months

U.S. citizen filing for a spouse, parent, or child under 21          -        6.5 Months to 8.5 Months

Not sure what's going on, but something's not right.

I've wondered about this too. The only thing I can think of is that there are less permanent residents filing than US citizens so therefore not as much paperwork to go through and the wait isn't as long

I had a USCIS Expedite and an NVC expedite. That is the reason. We only took 6 mnths to get his IR1.

I was about to chime in that you had an expedite! Anyway, congratulations and thank you for your support! Best of luck to your family!!!!! I wosg I could get an expedite, being a single mother on disability is hard stuff. Having a 2nd income would help me so much :(

I am, my spouse is also in Romania like yours. However the difference is I have also been living here the last 3 years. I'm just waiting on my NOA2 for now.

I have been following your timeline as it's very similar to mine. What's the latest update, did you get any type of notification from NVC yet?

Oh wow!!! Where in romania are you? I just got back on Tuesday! No notice from NVC but I'm planning on calling today to see if I can get my case number. Our  I-130 was approved 12/21 & it says they sent to NVC on Jan 10th so I'm hoping to get this moving! Wishing you the BEST of luck 💖

  11. just got notice petition was sent to NVC on Jan. 10th even though approval was Dec. 21st, so it's taken quite a bit for them to send it out...

  13. Hi everyone, I'm freaking out a bit here! I'm visiting my husband in Romania right now and had a feeling to ask my sister if she's checked my mail. She got back to me but because of time difference I was asleep! There is something there from Homeland Security! I'm super worried it's an RFE or something. It's 3am in the US so I won't hear anything for hours 😥😣🤞 We are at Texas service center and they received us July 9th
