I don't think there should be an issue. You got your GC via EB3 correct? The challenges you faced before becoming GC holder has no bearing imo as long as it wasn't obtained by misrepresenting.
After being lawful PR for 5 years (paying taxes) and of good moral character (hopefully) you are applying to be USC. Rest easy.

Five year without a doubt.
I know of a distant friend of a friend who was married for 10 years with USC and was eligible for file under either rule. They choose 3 year rule and then got separated/divorced 6 months after applying before the interview.

Did the traffic violations come up during the interview, and was not having documentation of them an issue?
Yes, I was asked two questions regarding it.
1) Are there anything else beside the speeding tickets?
2) Do you have proof that you've already paid for the speeding ticket?
For the first one I answered No as I didn't have anything else (if you do you but forgot to list it earlier you can say that here) and for the second one I said I've obtained my driving record from DMV which is clean. IO was satisfied with the answer and didn't ask to see DMV records and moved on to other parts of the interview.
So to answer your question, it wasn't an issue in my case. It could also depend on the IO though.

Got passport card in mail few days ago. So this approach does work if you miss to select both initially.

Folks there should really be no impact of not updating your social security number right away, like literally none unless you are coming to a retirement age. In rare cases you do (employment, voting etc), You already have the NC and or Passport to prove that.
You've already risked sending your NC for passport why you want to do that again? You can easily do so when they open up in six months to a year go in person.
Unless you feel very adventurous and have an itch to juggle six knifes one fine day as show in TV with caption (Do not try this at home), go ahead and take your chances 😋

Personally, I'm not sending anything to SSA via mail. There is no deadline or impact of not updating your SSN.
I'll go and update when they open up which should be late summer this year at worst.

Update
it's been a week since I submitted a manual request via mail. When I check the status online now it says "we've received your request for passport book and card" instead of passport book only previously.
Looks like it worked but not counting my chickens before they're hatched. Wait to get both and NC in hand.
Thanks @gregcrs2

I was told they used to entertain such request before covid but not anymore when I called. They also suggest I can make a request via regular mail to the passport center with fee payment and see if they honor it. Quite a hail mary but I'll indulge and see what happens.

Call them up. I changed from normal processing to an expedite so I see no reason why you can't add a passport card by phone. They take credit cards so it should be relatively easy.
Thanks. I'll try my luck tomorrow by calling them.

So I applied for passport book last month. I didn't select "passport card" as it was only useful for ground travel to neighboring countries after reading the state gov website.
It didn't cross my mind that I could use that document as a proof of legal presence and it fits in my wallet (better than passport book or NC). Kicking myself over it now.
Is it possible to call and amend application to include passport card and pay the fee (somehow)? My application is still pending/being processed.
If not possible can I apply again but only for passport card after I receive my passport?
If neither then I'll just have to wait for the current passport to expire and when I renew my passport I select both?
Wondering if anyone was able to obtain both after only applying for one. I searched online but found nothing useful.
Thanks!

Applied on 01/20/2021 Expediated.
They Received on 02/01/2021
Status on the website says it can take 4-6 weeks. Hoping I get the passport by end of this month and NC early March. *fingers crossed*

I"m avoiding SSA update unless I can go in person. I'm already scared sending original NC for passport. Don't want that situation again if I can avoid it.
-
Also, if I were you, I'd call USCIS and ask what they recommend you do just for peace of mind to see what they suggest. May be it's different when you are claiming citizenship via parents. You can also wait for few others folks answer here as they may have been in a similar situation.

Thanks HRQX.
slightly less but still quite a few entries then...does anyone know if there is a limit on the form? I guess we will see.
I think when filing online if you max out entries there is a way on the website which allows you to create additional pages to fill out more info Just like in paper filing you can attach additional pages, you can do the same with online filing. You can even create word/pdf docs with multiple pages travel records in the same format as travel record section in application and upload those as additional evidence in the end. If you say you took 100 trips and they only see 10 or so in that initial page they will look at additional docs.

I'm sure others would chime in but here is my take.
If their system flags it during review they may ask you for evidence in which case you will send the proof (perhaps a copy of dad's passport or birth certificate). If they don't you go to the interview and mention it that you made a typo and provide the proof in the interview and IO will update it.
I don't think you can edit an already submitted n400 application until interview. Mistakes happen and in this case it doesn't look like something that will disqualify you so don't worry.
Good luck.

Hello all,
I'm due to send out my N-400 in a couple of months and I've been gathering my paperwork. I've looked for information about taxes everywhere, including these boards, and it seems like it's better that I bring my tax returns to the interview. Keep in mind I'm applying under the five-year eligibility, as my green card wasn't through marriage.
Whenever I went on the IRS website, it only showed Return Transcripts starting in 2017. How do I get the IRS to send me the one from 2016? If they ask about my taxes, I'm certain they'll ask me to show everything starting from 2016 (the year I became a permanent resident). And has anyone faced this problem before?
You only get current year + 3 years worth of tax transcripts online or via mail but there is an option to request longer duration. I've made it a habit of requesting transcripts every two years just because I can and for my records (have a google calendar notification).
Directly from the horses mouth. https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript-faqs Also you can take the tax return you submitted for the years you don't can't tax transcript. That could work as well. I took all 5 years of tax transcript as I applied with 5 year rule and wasn't asked to show any but that highly depends on the IO.
Good luck.
Q12. How do I request a transcript for an older tax year when it’s not available online?
Tax return and record of account transcripts are only available for the current tax year and three prior tax years when using Get Transcript Online. Note: There is a “show all +” expand button below the online tax account transcript type that may provide additional tax years you need. Otherwise, you must submit Form 4506-T to request a transcript for a tax year not available.Tax return and tax account transcripts are also limited to the current and prior three tax years when using Get Transcript by Mail. However, you may be able to get older tax account transcripts by calling our automated phone transcript service at 800-908-9946. Otherwise, you must submit Form 4506-T.

Thanks for your response. That's the thing, the police report clearly states I was at fault so I'm not sure why I wasn't cited. It's making answering this question tricky...
No problem.
Police report may say it's your fault but read the USCIS question again. "Have you ever been cited, arrested or detained by law enforcement officer?" The answer is No. You didn't receive a citation by an officer where you had to acknowledge/sign on the spot nor did they detain you based on what you've described.
Again for peace of mind, please consult a lawyer. You will be anxious after you submit the application no matter how you answer it because it's not cut and dry. Every time you think of your citizenship application this question will come to mind if you don't feel confident with your answer.
Good luck.

I'd wait for it to re-open. Personally, I wouldn't not send NC to SSA by mail. Not in this life.
Do they issue a new number after the status update or just the "VALID FOR WORK ONLY WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION" is dropped in the new SSN card? Thanks.
-
Yikes folks. Hope you all get NC back as expected. Perhaps even sooner. I'm already getting anxious and I've just applied for my passport!
-
Congrats. These are crazy times indeed.
-
The consensus among these forums is you don't need to mention parking ticket or camera tickets but take the payment receipt (if you have them) along with driving record with you to the interview just incase.
I didn't mention any parking/camera tickets as no police officer was involved in issuing a citation.
Good luck to you.
-
If the police determined it was your fault you would have been issued a citation. I'm assuming since they couldn't determine whose fault it is they just noted that down as accident or they just cut you some slack as you were sent to the hospital. Now I'm not a lawyer but that report looks more like for tracking incident and insurance purpose.
So if I were in that situation I'd answer "No" because I wasn't cited/arrested or detained.
If answering No doesn't sit right with you or you're not confident, grab a copy of a police report and ask a competent immigration lawyer for their opinion. Won't cost you more than few hundred bucks at most for an hour.
Good luck.
