J.A.G 2016 got a reaction from Adventine in Things to do while waiting for Greencard ---IR-1 Visa
From my experience here in NY, I had to wait 20 business days for immigration to process my SSN, but unfortunately after that they didn't so I had to apply at a SSA office, it took 1.5 weeks to arrive. For insurance (1199) ssn is required. As for bank account n state id, proof of address is required. I had to post a mail to myself (post marked mail), since I am new and don't have anything in my name (utility bill, lease, vehicle registration etc.). Bank of America is more flexible to open an account. After two weeks I applied for a credit card (secured one) because I don't have a credit history. All of the above was done with my temporary gc. My gc took 1.5 months after I arrived and was paid for before I entered the US.
  2. Thanks

Hi, the document that you are referencing to is from a personal review back in 2016 and that's from a different category. I (Guyanese) had my IR1 interview back in August this year and the documents the consulate requested at the interview were:-
    1. My birth certificate, NOTED if issued before 2010, updated one needed.
    2. Police clearance, valid for one year from date of issuance.
    3. Marriage certificate, NOTED if issued before 2010, updated one needed.
    4. Divorce absolute
    5. Petitioner 2022 tax transcripts
    6. Joint sponsor 2022 tax transcripts and proof of domicile.
    7. My medical report was uploaded directly to the embassy by St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.
As a safety I walked with all the documents NVC requested (hard copies) and even additional proof of our marriage.

The CO didn't asked for the petitioner's bc, but I also updated it and took it to my interview to avoid any delay.
