Is your traditional wedding going to be in the US? As if not, you might need to factor in timings for getting AP so you can travel. I got married in a courthouse in the US and then we had a traditional wedding in the UK 9 months after, and it was stressful waiting for the AP document as it took much longer than anticipated.

It is going to be a traditional wedding in the United States after all the visa stuff is said and done. I won't have to wait for AP as we are marrying in New York.

We are doing a courthouse wedding upon me entering the united states and after that planning our traditional/religious ceremony/reception.

In that case, I would wait until you have the official wedding to set the date for the more traditional celebration.  Then you have all the time in the world to get the various notices and invitations out.

    Good Luck!

    You said it perfectly!!!

    Thank you so Much!!!!

Edit: I will not worry about the Save the Dates.... that also saves me some me some cashola lol

When you're doing a K1 it's impossible to have a traditional wedding. You're gonna have to settle for a 3 month short notice (after you cross the border you have 3 months to marry so you have less than 3 months to plan it) or you're gonna have to get married at a courthouse, I think it's safe to say that 99% of the people here did, and then just do a real wedding later when you can plan it. Unfortunately you can't plan a wedding like you want on the K1.

We are doing a quick courthouse wedding as soon as I arrive to the United States on the K1..... but we are also planning a traditional religious wedding much later in 2020. Although the process makes it hard to plan certain things I believe it is still possible to plan a wedding like everyone else ... its just making sure you don't start throwing your money around on deposits... but it is possible.. in fact very possible.

  4. Okay so my apologies if this is in the wrong spot and also because I know it doesn't really have much to do with a K1 however... If I could get any insight from other brides as to what to do with your save the dates? We have a wedding date in mind which is far in advance (taking into consideration the K1 Process).. of course this date is up in the air but since we are still doing a very traditional wedding we would like to send out Save the Dates... just not 100% sure if we should even bother.

    Help!

  5. This comes directly from the I-129F Petition Instructions PDF:

    5. Photographs You must submit one color passport-style photograph of yourself and one color passport-style photograph of the beneficiary taken within 30 days of filing this petition. The photos must have a white to off-white background, be printed on thin paper with a glossy finish, and be unmounted and unretouched. The color passport-style photos must be 2 by 2 inches. The photos must be in color with full face, frontal view on a white to off-white background. Head height should measure 1 to 1 3/8 inches from top of hair to bottom of chin, and eye height is between 1 1/8 to 1 3/8 inches from bottom of photo. Your head must be bare unless you are wearing headwear as required by a religious denomination of which you are a member. Using a pencil or felt pen, lightly print your name and A-Number (if any) on the back of the photo.

T_P noted above that you need two photos, however, this is only for the form DS-160 which comes later in the process.

  6. I do apologize if this is posted in the wrong area.

However we just mailed out our I-129F Petition and we are both very excited.... I am just way more nervous than my fiance.

Wish us luck, pray for us and hopefully this process goes as smoothly as possible.

    Fingers and Toes Crossed!!!

  7. I have been doing loads of research before me and my fiance complete the I-129F Petition and some websites have contradicting information in regards to the I94. I (the beneficiary) am not currently in the United States.

I visit my fiance every other weekend by entering the US via land border at Queenston/Lewiston Bridge. When online at the I94 website I have travel history however I have no I94 (website says there is none for this traveler).

My question basically is am I required to include the I94 in the Petition? I am asking because that means I would have to pay the $6 and do the process the next time I go through the border.

I do apologize if this question has been asked before.

    Sincerely,

No, a withdrawal of admission is not going to be an issue for a K-1. Luckily they didn't do an expedited deportation due to the controlled substance violation, but they were nice enough to let you withdraw admission instead.

And as stated above, if you were inadmissible you wouldn't have been admitted.

I got extremely lucky and was super thankful to those CBP officers for not being so harsh on me. It was a huge mistake that I learned a lot from. Thank you for your response I really do appreciate it.

  9. 7+ years ago I had attempted to enter the United States.

My car was searched and they found a small leaf that tested positive for marijuana (yes very stupid I know, I did not realize it was in my car...seriously huge lapse in judgement). The border officers had me sign form I-275 Withdrawal of Application for Admission.

My question is will this incident from 7+ years ago cause my K1 to be denied?

I had done my due diligence in the beginning on this year and went to the same Port of Entry (Peace Bridge) and confirmed if I am still inadmissable to the United States and the border officer I was speaking with asked me a couple of questions and then told me that it has been a long time since I have tried to re-enter and that I was now Admissable. Since then I have gone to New York every other weekend with no issues at all. I am just extremely concerned that this will cause our K1 to be denied. If anybody could offer up any advice it would be greatly appreciated.
