If I were you, I would ask to reschedule. If you ask now, it might not be that far out from July 3rd which is the original date

For my interview under 5-yr rule, I am taking:
5 years worth of Tax Transcripts Residential lease Driver's license Passport Green Card Should I take anything else with me? I'm single, never married, no children. I uploaded my Mother's Cert of Naturalization to the USCIS portal, but I don't have that original with me. I know the letter says to bring originals of whatever you uploaded to the interview.
Also, does anyone know if the Chicago FO allows a guest? My best friend would like to join me for moral support and wait in the waiting area obviously.

I traveled in March for a short trip. I told the interviewer the wrong month because I was sleep deprived (should've been March rather than April) but she didn't question it further. Worth noting the dates down

My wife tested me on the 100 questions. It was all right until I said "The star-sprinkled banner".
Seriously, how many times did you use the word "spangled" in your life?
🙂

Are you still married? Did your husband come with you on your last international trip? Have you ever lived apart? Do you own a car together? Do you own a home or rent together? At this point I offered to show him a copy of our lease with both our names on it, and he said yes show me.

Not by itself. You'll have to update trips list at the interview. Of course, if you barely have required physical presence and this trips makes it to below the mimimum, this may become an issue.

And now it is showing "Oath Ceremony will be scheduled"
(Appt time was 1.35, I went in right on time - was out by 2pm).
I took a folder full of documents including the originals of all the documents I had uploaded and was not asked to show any of them. I did not have a State ID and that was also okay. (I did give the officer copies of my travel information for the dates I will be out of state but was not asked for anything other than my passport and green card)

Yes. Bring all expired cards as well and yes you can apply for your passport same day after you receive and sign your Naturalization certificate.

Thank you. Yes I got the tiny flag.😊. It’s a cute and a good keepsake right now for me.

the IO needs to open your case file in preparation for the interview.

Filed Jan 7th and posted on the first page of this thread... feels like it took forever compared to some people who got interviews right away haha Can't wait to be done!

Since the I751 has already been approved you won't be interviewed for that application, it's done. However they could still ask you some questions about your marriage, even though you're applying under the 5-year rule, like they did for me. Just be ready to answer any question and bring some evidence of your continuing marriage (lease/house title in both your names, kids birth certificates, tax transcripts showing you filed jointly, etc.) Anything key document you used for your I751 but you probably don't need a ton.

USCIS won't take responsibility. Instead the person naturalized in error may get in huge trouble if tries to get a job or other benefit and presents as US citizen. Somewhere down the line, 10-20 years later etc, either SSA, DoS or USCIS may revisit their history and conclude they're not a US citizen. Then, if they apply for N-400 again, their claim to be a citizen will be seen as misrepresentation and potentially will mean they won't naturalize and can even lose their GC

That’s not how it works. My original N400 was denied due to a USCIS mistake and error.

This is terrible. I feel sorry for them. At the same time I would have put my foot down and said I am not getting naturalized before my PR anniversary especially because the person said they knew at the time they were not eligible.

yeah they could do that, but there’s no question on there that’s truly hard if you know what I mean. Of course “who is the president” is easier than “who is your representative”
I heard they also have to type your answer in the system which is weird to me because I’d think there was some sort of multiple choice for the IO to just select the answer you gave

Btw I came across this on Reddit - somebody got sworn in before 5 years' mark. Sounds like a huge headache for that person:

Hey guys,
I am new here but not new to the immigration process. Believe it or not I have read all 40 pages of this topic 🫢
I got my conditional green card through marriage in 2019 (with an interview), applied for removal of conditions (I751) in April 2021. and got approval in January of this year (without an interview) and applied for my N400 (5 year rule) on 2/28. I received my interview notice which will be on 6/25.
So I am curious to know how much are they going to focus on the I751? I had a strong case hence no interview approval but I’m curious to know how does it usually go.
Tanks for any insightful information.

My interview was yesterday and I was approved! There was a long wait because Tampa is a big office but the interview itself lasted less than 10 minutes. Very friendly, no complaints. Unfortunately there was no ceremonies scheduled that day so I'll have to wait.

I believe the system is the same standard for everyone and not dependent on field office.

A program does select the questions randomly, and the IO can pick if they want to skip a question and the system will just provide another.
