Shelby662hp got a reaction from Monicalalfonso in Expedite request USCIS
    All,
I just want to share some info for all of the people who say not to even try to do expedite request.  I applied for one even after all said 99.9% chance will not get approved.  I even have an attorney who also said it is very hard.  Despite all of the negative advice I did one anyway.  I applied for financial hardship.  I typed up my case and sent the evidence.  Two weeks later approved.  My claim was only at USCIS for around 50 days.  We started all of this February 23 of 2018 and today (July 11 2018) we got visa approval from interview.  Nothing is worth not trying.  Yes it is hard and can be denied but what harm is there in trying.  I did mine on financial hardship. I was able to show that I would lose a lot of money if I could not get this visa approved during the summer.  Words of wisdom to all "The only stupid question is the one not asked". Good luck all...

Essentially, you've met the "textbook" requirements to file. So as far as that's concerned, you are fine. But be prepared to validate your relationship in any other way possible, since there are not many visits to use. I would provide as much evidence of the visit you have had, such as photos together, photos with family/friends while visiting, boarding passes, etc. You can include evidence of long term communication too; my now husband and I were involved for a solid year before we ever even met, so we included proof of our email/text/FaceTime communication over that time.

Congrats on the approval and thanks for the update.

My only concern is the "doesn't hurt to give it a try" sentiment is that it may lead to an increase amount of frivolous requests. There is a guy who posted this week claiming his reason for expedite for financial loss is because he wanted to take a leave of absence from his job to go spend time with his fiance in her country. When, in fact, it is a personal decision to stop working.

    Paul & Mallory,
I know not all situations are the same. I am simply trying to let people know if you love the person nothing is worth not trying.  Don't get me wrong every situation is different.  Yes it worked for me but might not for others but try if you feel you meet the criteria.

That's fantastic news, and I know very relieving. To be fair, however; most people who give advice like you're referencing are not necessarily trying to hem you up or be inconsiderate. Most people here are always going to give realistic and practical expectations and reasonable opinions, which is what you were given. Ultimately, no one can ever give a concrete "yes or no" to most questions, and it's still essentially up to the person asking the questions to decide what to do. Fortunately in your situation, that panned out very well for you and that's great. I would say you are very lucky in your timing, perhaps, and that outcome would not necessarily happen for everyone in your position. But it is inspiring to others in similar, or worse situations, to know there is sometimes a positive outcome - that does encourage people to exhaust all options before giving up.

    Congratulations!

No you are fine.  As long as you have met in person.  Make sure you keep a detailed log of all of the communication you have.  Use facebook messenger and facetime if you have apple.  Keep a log so when you get to the Embassy interview you can hand the interviewer all of you logs to show legitimacy.  My friend met his Thai fiancé once in person for 12 days and they got there fiancé K1 visa approved.  They talked for hours everyday.

Hey bud, my fiance has her interview on the 20th as well. She sent in packet 3 Friday and just got her interview date on Monday, only 13 days notice but that's a good thing. Anyway see you have Raleigh listed as your city. I'm from Tarboro. Just thought that was notable since we are so close and they have interviews on the same day. Has your fiance had her medical yet? Mine is going in the morning.

I had expedited K-1 and I was waiting 49 days for my case to reach NVC then 1 day fore case number etc. I was going crazy bcs situation was getting extreme for us and we lost 1,5 month just waiting for case to be sent from one place to another and then Christmas and New Year were approaching.

I would suggest to analyze last 1-2 months K-1 timelines and you have your theoretical answer about how long you will wait. They gather stuff in batches and sends whenever they want to. There is no way to expedite “sending to NVC” process. Good info is that when your case reached NVC it’s pretty fast. I would suggest to find out about fiancé medicals. I figured out a way to make mine as fast as possible. But each country rules regarding medicals are a bit different. Sometimes ppl need NVC number to schedule them sometimes not etc.

So I have a question for the forum. I have a case in USCIS that is on day 57. I filed a Expedite request on day 30 which was 14 March 2018. I received the approval email to expedite on 19 April 2018. Now I am at day 57. How much longer should we be waiting before they will send the case to the NVC? I am sure the expedite is only for the USCIS phase of this process. Thank you
