The statistic is also pulled from this study (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK223657/) done in 2000, which doesn't at all take in the fact that its dropped significantly since then. This admin misleading to us? Who thought! And also to boot, it was found in the same year that immigrants actually added 100 billion more to medicare than us citizens did, so whats the issue? The change to the rule of mandatory healthcare was bad (I was joking before) and this is something the Trump admin did to themselves, the ACA mandatory rule dropped uninsured immigrants from 32% to 20% in 3 years and legal immigrants apparently take less of a toll and take up less public resources (as they actually lack health insurance less than US citizens) then you'd think. This is according to the Migration Policy Institute, a nonpartisan immigration thinktank.
 
Using visajourney as a anecdotal point of "look no one is getting health insurance " because they're asking how to, doesn't really drive a point home (yes. This is directed at Boiler but I don't want to quote both posts, also you said bingo.) They may legitimately be asking because immigrants are more likely to have a job than a USC (which is hilarious) and because it is confusing moving to a new country where this is a thing. Huh. This is another stupid law, and why is a stupid law? So what is good about this law? I ask you.

Anyway this news is just a smokescreen. No one with any serious knowledge about healthcare costs in America thinks that access by immigrants is a major cost driver. But because this administration won't go after excess profiteering by health insurers, drug & device makers, and other providers in health care, they want you to focus your ire instead on poor migrants "taking your health care away from you." From the discussion on this forum, that strategy appears to be working.

And that mutes my entire point? Thirty days is ridiculous, nevermind how hard to execute this law is, what do you do, ask them "will you get healthcare in thirty days?" and they say yes? How do you prove otherwise when we already have the common charge situation which vets immigrants coming in.
 
Stupid law, stupid stupid law. People are gonna get health insurance anyway, this is just fearmongering. No defense needed for this, probably only going to scare people from third world countries too.

I don't think they're saying that at all... they are wrong though. Legal immigrants pay as much tax as an American citizen, why should you put money into taxation and follow the laws of the land and not get something as basic as healthcare in a time of need? We're all humans.

As expected, whenever a hardliner rule was set out to curb legal immigrants. You can see a bunch of elite members here who are done or almost done with their journey, gathering and chanting the rule is reasonable. I'm not going to reply or read any of you people replies, so don't waste your time. This forum is used to be good and filled with tolerant members, now it became a favorite gathering place of Trump's cult. Excuse for my bad English, I'm not from your 1st countries.

Received at NVC in June 2019, paid fees and attached documents same day
Roughly 3 weeks later on 7/2 they rejected my finances document because I forgot to scan the last page, the one with space for additional information, because it was blank, and asked for divorce decree. Frustrating because they are asking for documents that are in the physical packer already, but it was my fault to forget the blank page.
1 month later, today 8/1 they approved and now I'm waiting on interview date.
 
This entire process is too slow, and unfair, but it is rewarding to see it moving along. Wishing the rest of you the best of luck!

So Nebraska finally approved me after a year on 6/20. Now 6 weeks later NVC have still not received it, uscis tier 1 agent say all they can see is my case approved nothing else, my case still says “received” last year online, new acct. Have not gotten call back from tier 2 uscis officer even though tried for over a week! Help me! Anyone else stuck in Nebraska and case not even sent to NVC!??? I’m losing my mind at this point. My citizenship got stuck in a black hole for 6 months longer than it should have and feel like the same thing is happening again!!! I’m at the crying stage!
