KevinInATX got a reaction from TandSarahJane in May 2018 K1 Filers
Nothing was more frustrating to see people days and even weeks after my early April NOA1 get their NOA2 before me. In fact, was even more frustrating to see people in May get their NOA2 prior to me as well. My friend who is about 3 months in front of me in the K1visa process with same beneficiary country got his NOA2 in 188 days. My background is squeaky clean and all my supporting evidence for the I-129 was near identical as my friends and my NOA2 came in 201 days. While I agree it is frustrating to wait, it is really out of your hands. The one thing I kept telling myself is that everyone pays the same fee and sooner or later they will adjudicate your file.
Having said that, the Visa process is a bit better. Try not to get discouraged and you’ll be on through to the next part soon enough. My advice would be try to understand your embassy’s Visa process now while you are waiting if you haven’t already. I got a little blindsided not understanding how the DS-160 works here in Vietnam. Everyone’s embassy is different and what a bunch of hoops I had to jump through here in Vietnam pay the fee that my benificary would have had a hard time with.

KevinInATX got a reaction from Greenbaum in APRIL 2018 I-129F FILERS
We had an engagement party and we wore the traditional Ao Dai. Our engagement party was back in Feb and I submitted to USCIS about 20 photos of that alone. I will be in Vietnam to see my fiancé just prior to her interview. We will visit her hometown to make the police background check #2 and also will have them supply her the certificate of single dates for that date as well. In Vietnam, it is understood that most foreigners make the traditional engagement party because the family can celebrate knowing that the beneficiary will marry in the states. My good friend just went through this process about 2 months in front of me and he also wore the traditional Ao Dai at their engagement party and there was no problem at the interview...in fact, he didn’t even come to vietnam for the interview with her...Vietnam is considered a “high fraud” country and the most part my understanding is they are looking to make sure is a bonafide relationship and not a public charge

Just FYI for you and others. There is no fee for the DS-160. What you are paying is the interview application fee (the exact title eludes me but I think you get the idea)

I've just spoken to a very helpful lady at the NVC who advised that our case was received yesterday Nov 13th 2018, although no case number as yet....which is what I was expecting. I'm just super happy that they have received our case already!
Hoping for a case number in the next week or so so that I can book my medical and really hoping NVC send our case in the next batch ☺️☺️☺️
NOA2 10/29/2018
NVC Received 11/13/2018

Thats their standard answer. They told me yesterday it would take 6 weeks to get my case number, but today they said the case number was assigned. Was received at NVC either 5th Nov or 8th Nov

The thread has turned into a place to go whine about the process. I just don't get the need to whine and stomp your feet about a process that never promised anything more then to review your documents and determine if you are eligible to be approved for a visa interview. You don't add any value to the conversation, just complaining. Just my opinion.

My NOA2 took 201 days. My friend is about 3 months in front of me and we have same identical background and same identical benificiary countries and his took 188 days. No rhyme or reason and was also frustrating to see late April filers get approved before me. Also he got his NVC case number in like 9 days....I’m already waiting now 16 days and I called there and they don’t have it yet. It’s really hard to know what the wizard behind the iron curtain is doing.
Everyones case however will be decided upon because everyone paid the same fee...just a timing thing
Good luck to all remaining folks in April...routing for your day of happiness!!

They are looking for the CURRENT salary. That's what they base their decision on. If you current salary is above the poverty line for your household size then you do not need a co-sponsor. Some embassies can be an A$$ and can give you a 221(g) and ask you to get one and return the information before they complete the processing of your visa after the interview.
Use this link to determine your poverty line that you much reach or exceed.

EVIDENCE OF SUPPORT FOR THE INTERVIEW. You should be able to demonstrate that you will not become a public charge or be a burden on the U.S. taxpayers for financial support. A completed I-134 Affidavit of Support Form K1/K2 Interview Preparation Instructions – English (February 2014) Page 3 of 9 with an original signature will be useful to the consular officer to evaluate your petitioner’s ability to be financially responsible for you. You should also submit your petitioner’s most recent U.S. Federal income tax return (Form 1040) and wage statements (Form W-2). Employment letters stating salaries and bank statements may be included to substantiate the I-134. Get the IRS transcript in place of the actual 1040 here: https://www.irs.gov/Individuals/Get-Transcript
