  1. Hello July Filers!

I had my interview today (ATL Field Office). Everything went smooth. Officer went through my file and reviewed questions with me. I wish I could remember exactly the test questions but I was nervous and now I only remember I was asked name of first President, current President and Vice President.

There was a same day Oath ceremony but I mentioned when we reviewed my time outside of the country that I have an upcoming travel very very soon. When approved they told me I will receive a letter in the mail with my Oath invitation. I will update everything in my timeline!

Thank you to this forum for the valuable help and information. My journey is almost over!

  2. Hello! I got my naturalization interview letter for the first week of November. Way faster than expected. I have a few questions because I need to be prepared. Already have an international trip on Thanksgiving for family reasons to my home country. Let’s suppose my interview is successful.
1- How can I find out if ATL office has same day oath? How to request it?

2- In case my oath is scheduled after my trip… do I still travel with my GC right?

Trying not to stress with the timeline but hey I’m a worrier by nature.

    Thank you!

  3. Hi!!! We traveled last year waiting our IR1/IR2. I entered the USA with ESTA (my European passport) and the kids entered with their argentinian passports and the B2 visas. I brought copies of our NOA2 just in case but we were only asked at the border how long were we staying and how much money we carried.
I entered the US in july, left in August, had my interview in September and finally moved in late September.
Be prepared to always explain the situation.

This would only work if OP has a qualified joint sponsor.

Not really. It is true that a joint sponsor is always very helpful, but in my case, my husband was my only sponsor and we were still able to move together. It all depends what type of work your sponsor has. He was able to sponsor me as self employed and showing his previous tax returns, letters of what he does, etc.

  5. Hi Esteban!

We lived in Argentina for a long time with my US citizen  husband (who came to Argentina very young too). I filed for IR-1 because I have been married for more than 2 years.

I  definitely recommend getting married and file for CR-1 as everything will be smoother and you will be able to work immediately after arriving.

It is not true that your wife should move before you! The process ahead is extremely stressful and long to be separated, I am thankful we could be together and wait in Argentina.  We came all together at the same time (US husband, me, and our IR-2 visa kids). There are some steps your wife will have to follow to show intention of re-establishing her domicile here and also you will have to keep an eye on the tax documents needed and the income requirements for your sponsor. But if you are organised and follow the process you won’t have any problems.

Feel free to PM me in spanish or english!

  6. Hi Talo!! I entered the country as well with no credit history at all. I started with a secured credit card my local bank was able to offer me. As a previous poster said, use it carefully and pay on time. Just four months later I was offered a regular credit card with a small credit line and no fees. That will help me a lot to start building my credit!

As for the car, unfortunately I had to pay cash for it.

  7. Hi Talo!

Your SSN is not the Alien Number.

It is strange, I received my SSN 6 days after entering the country. The GC after a month.

On CEAC, it asked if you wanted to forward your information to the Social Security Administration to issue your SSN. You should check if that permission has been checked. If not, I suggest you call or go personally to your local SSA.

As for the GC, when you paid your IV fee you should have gotten an IOE number. You can track that number on the USCIS webpage and check if your card has been printed, etc.

I remember talking to you when you were approved and honestly it's been a long time, you should have received at least your SSN by now.

Let me know if I can help.

EDIT: I read your other post and understand your card is in process. Give it a few more weeks! But double check if you checked to transfer your data to SSA on CEAC.

    Saludos,

    Lucia

Thx I saw it, i already did one without the “ con excepción al articulo 51 del código penal” so I just wanna how to do it online con excepción al artículo 51

You can go to their webpage

    http://www.dnrec.jus.gov.ar/GestionUsu/NuevaGestion.aspx?tipo=reclamo

Go to "Reclamo - Tramitacion" then go to "El tramite no fue entregado con excepcion al articulo ..."

    And then follow the steps.

They ask for a picture of your DNI and your personal information.

We are about to start the process and I asked because it's always been my husband visiting me, but our lawyer told us that it is risky since they might not let you in the country. I'm not sure how it works because it seems unfair. I would be using my B2 to enter if I go to visit.

Hi! We traveled from Argentina while waiting for our NOA2 approval. We even got a B2 visa for one of the kid beneficiaries with the I-130 already sent. We did not have any trouble at port of entry (Miami).  No extra questions just the usual ... how long were we staying and how much money we carried.

  10. Hi Patricio!

    I just found your post.

Just wanted to share my experience. It is heartbreaking for me that you have to be apart!

I'm from Argentina and my American husband has lived here for a long time. He stayed with me through all the process.

You say that you want to move in a couple of years. It's good that you have no rush because the process takes a lot of time (more than a year for me). But once your visa is approved and issued you will have 6 months to leave Argentina.

1- It is not mandatory to be separated to apply. We spent all the process in Argentina together.

2- You don't need to. We used the us citizen address in Argentina. Later at NVC stage we provided our intended address in the USA.

3- You may use a family member as a joint sponsor.

Let me know if you need help! We've been on this journey for a year and it hasn't ended yet.

This was so stressful for us and our family, being together was a huge relief for us.

    Good luck!

So it is not an obsolete visa and the reason so few are granted is not because of processing times but because they approve the I-130 directly! If it wasn't for what I read on this forum I would have filed the I-129F with the I-130 just in case. A lot of people here are actually giving misleading information, not intentionnaly I am sure, but I bet many people were considering filing both applications at the same time and did not do it in the end because of what they read. There is no additional cost and it's the same paperwork to file I-129F with I-130 so why not let people do it?

I agree. This forum is fantastic to clarify doubts and read similar experiences, but the last word is on the official sites. I didn't file I-129F because I read soooo many times that it was obsolete. As long as the form is on the website, it's still a valid route. Lesson learned: try everything available, rely on the information on the official websites.

    Hi all! Quick question...

Can I travel to the US while waiting for CC in NVC before my interview?

NVC representative mentioned even we get CC in March most probably our interview would be booked in April for May. Which is 2 more months which we would like to spend together. I needed to submit in DS-260 my last 5 entries in the US. Can it make a problem?

    Much appreciated any advice.

Hi !! Did you travel? I'm trying to plan a trip and would like to know if you had any trouble.

    Thank you!!!

    where did you see this?

I like to use this view with the recent I130 approvals for all Service Centers.

    https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/k1list.php?cfl=0&op1=i&op2=d&op3=5&op4=1&op5=5,6,8,10,11,13,14,15,16,17,18,20,21,22,25,26,27,28,108,110,111,208,210,211&op6=All&op66=All&op7=All&dfile=No&adv=

It breaks my heart every time I see approvals from Potomac from November, December and January.

    I'm September filer.

  14. Hello!

I would like to know if anyone in Argentina sent USCIS or NVC the new Digitally Signed Certificates (Partidas de Nacimiento / Matrimonio con firma digital).

They seem to have a special validation code which allows to verify them online, but no special signature apart from the original one on the certificate. Besides, if you don't google it, nowhere in the certificate says where they should be validated.

If someone used them, was everything OK with these new certificates?

    Thank you!!

SEP filers here also but our receipt date is still from Sep 2018 (NOA1)

Could it be that some applications are being transferred because of long processing times?

I was thinking the same. Any chance of a workload transfer?

It seems that workload transfers are announced here: https://www.uscis.gov/workload-transfers

Let's keep an eye on that. Good luck!
