  1. I'm in the final stages of getting everything together to send off my form i-751. However, I have a question regarding how to write my address on the form, and was hoping for some advice.

My husband and I live in an old apartment complex that a number of years ago had its address changed - the apartment number is the same but the street address changed. In most systems (e.g. USPS, UPS, FedEx etc) it's listed under the new address, but occasionally it still shows as the old address. This includes one of the bills I'm including as evidence with my form, as well as the apartment lease.

I'm concerned that if I send the packet as is with the two different-but-the-same addresses this will raise questions and lead to my form being delayed. So how should I address this on the form? Should I include a note on the covering letter I'm sending with my packet? Add the old apartment address under part 11 additional information?

Any advice would be gratefully received! Thanks.

    Hello everyone,

Just had my biometric today, my left and right smallest finger failed to be scanned, the lady said it should be fine as they couldnt do anything about it, she said my prints are blurry(?).

Anyone had the same problem and still got fingerprint review completed?

    Thank you!

One of my little fingers - can't remember which hand - wouldn't scan properly. My case status has since updated to ready to schedule interview, so I'm assuming that means the fingerprint review completed OK.

Not sure if this helps or not..

We also had out Bio in Memphis. On our letter it said the Bio was for I765 but after the appointment I765 and I485 both changed to finger prints were received. I765 is still saying that but I485 has changed to "we have scheduled your interview" . I dont think you will have to go to Memphis twice for fingerprints. This was posted at the first part of August so maybe you got it all sorted now anyway :)

I did end up going to Memphis for a second set of biometrics, on 10 September. The day after that my status changed to case ready to be scheduled for interview, but I haven't heard anything since. Have you got a date for your interview yet? If so, how long after your biometrics appointment is/ was it?

yeah sadly thats not the case for me, my biometrics only had the EAD casenumber in it and even the officer told me i need to come back. So i put a service request and they said no biometrics yet cuz of background check...

It feels like no one else had this problem

I've had that problem too! I had my biometrics for EAD at the beginning of the month. I phoned USCIS shortly afterwards to ask when I would have my biometrics for AOS. The agent on my phone assured me I would only have one set taken. Even after I explained that I knew other people had had two sets taken, he still insisted they would use the one set for both applications.

Guess what? My biometrics appointment letter for AOS just arrived today. 🙄

  5. Like the OP I lived in a place in the UK where I didn't need to drive, so I never learned - so I'm having to learn here. I'm in Mississippi and got my learner's permit - after a fair amount of hassle and 'computer says no' - back in May, before my I94 expired. However, I've yet to do my actual driving test.

Does anyone know if I would need to go through the whole process of proving my identity and that I'm legally allowed to be here AGAIN to get my actual license, or if having done it once for the learner's permit would be enough?

The MS Drivers Service Bureau says I would need to present 'proof of legal presence' but doesn't specify what that needs to be. I'm currently waiting for EAD/AOS so my 'proof of legal presence' is my NOA1.

I just want to go home so bad, book tickets to go back home on January hope everything will work! Plus, stay at home is boring! My husband is not a millionaire, we need money to survive ...

    Thanks :)

I'm with you on that...it's tough, isn't it?

Likewise I also filed in the third week of May. I had a biometrics appointment earlier this week, but it appears that was just for my EAD and not my AOS. It looks like I'll have to go back for another biometrics appointment at some point in the future, but I'm still waiting to find out when that appointment will be. I put in a service request last month and the response I got was that my application is still being processed. As soon as 30 days are up from when I filed that service request I'm putting in another one - and will continue to do so until I get that appointment.

  7. I finally had my biometrics appointment in Memphis yesterday, a little over two months after my NOA1. The letter I received with the details of the appointment said it was for form I765 - not I485 - which I didn't think anything of at the time. I just assumed they did one set of biometrics that covered everything I had applied for.

Now I'm wondering if that was the wrong assumption. Has anyone had to have a second set of biometrics done - one for EAD and one for AOS?

You don’t need an EAD to volunteer in a not-for-profit’s non-paying job. If it’s a paying job, then along with the job letter you need to also show why not having this job creates financial hardship to you.

Would it also help to have a letter from the non-profit explaining why it would be a financial hardship for them if they didn't employ me? The director has said if I was unable to work for them she would have to go out and advertise externally which would take time, cost money etc

  9. I met with a local non-profit organisation this morning about doing some volunteering for them, and was pretty much offered a job instead. It's a very small organisation with two members of staff, one of whom is leaving in the next couple of weeks. The director told me she would love to employ me in that role if I was interested - which of course I am.

I explained to her that I don't yet have permission to work but it was possible that I could apply for an expedite on the basis of a job offer. She said she would be willing to write a letter in support of that request for expedite.

I'm obviously excited about the prospect of getting out there and working, but I don't want to get my - or the director's - hopes up if it's unlikely to come off. I know a number of people on this forum have had their expedite requests approved on the basis of a job offer, so I wanted to ask how you did it. Was the job offer enough to get the expedite or did you also have to show further financial hardship? Did you claim severe financial loss to yourself or to the company that was hiring you? If the latter how did you do that?

Also, is the fact that the job offer is coming from a non-profit likely to make any difference to the chances of getting an expedite? I've seen some references in the past to there being a non-profit option for expediting EAD, but this isn't in the current criteria.

    Thanks!

That's awesome. Congratulations! How did you get notified? Did you directly receive the letter? Was there any text update or did the status change in your online portal from "Fingerprint Fee Received" to anything else? What's the status showing up in your service request? I have the same NOA1 date and also opened a service request but nothing on my biometrics yet :(

Thanks! I got the letter today. My online case status hasn't changed and is still saying 'fingerprint fee received'.

I wasn't expecting to receive anything today, because I'd just received a phone call from the Memphis ASC basically saying they'd sent me the wrong response to my service request. The reply they'd sent said my application had been approved, so they were calling to tell me to disregard that. I still haven't received the right response to my service request, but that feels less of an issue now than their administrative incompetence...

52 days and still no sign of my biometrics letter - NOA1 dated May 24. I've just filed a service request with the contact center and was told I should receive a response within 15 to 30 days. If not, I should phone them again to chase it up.

I have my biometrics appointment notice! Finally! It's on 1 August at midday, a mere 69 days after my NOA1. The notice date is 7/12, so it was processed just before I put in my service request.

I hope everyone else still waiting gets their biometrics notice soon.

  12. Thanks all. It's just so frustrating! My fear is that the time it's taking to get the biometrics appointment will be a reflection of how long the process as a whole will take. Just about every encounter I've had with bureaucracy over here has taken longer than it should have - my social security card took over two months to arrive - so I don't have any faith or expectation that things will somehow speed up.
