    Per the Ca SDI site
For California workers covered by SDI, Paid Family Leave (PFL) insurance provides up to six weeks of benefits for individuals who must take time off to care for a seriously ill child, spouse, parent, or registered domestic partner, or to bond with a new child.
So he has paid the insurance and gets the right to collect.

You're telling me that US citizens don't misuse their firearms?
Do you live in a different reality than the rest of us?

Because in the history of recent gun ownership in America, US Citizen gun owners have never made mistakes.

Dogs aren't dangerous until people teach them to be. Like guns, they need responsible owners.

That's what you think all of us want.
Basically, you're against big government telling people what to do with their lives. Unless, of course, they're telling people who are currently living their lives in a way YOU don't like. Then you're all for it.

I rolled? What does that even mean?
Why would two men take the title of husband and wife? They would be husband and husband, Danno.
You should stop spending so much time worrying about what other people are doing with their personal lives that have no impact on your own. Live and let live, Danno! You'll be happier that way.

and we educate society about what is acceptable and what is not, correct?
and we educate our kids about the effects of drugs and alcohol, correct?
rape is the only crime that consistently drags the innocence of the victim into question. it's way past time to stop allowing such an improper burden to occur.

    Two bits of advice, Ron:
    1) Try to dissuade Sveta from changing her name in the passport, there is no good reason to do so, and it is a pain in the ####. She can still travel freely to the FSU with original passport, green card and marriage certificate for the next few years, and later with her Ukrainian and US Passports.
    2) Repsectfully, lose the attitude. Your posts really ARE difficult to understand, it would be tremendously useful if you put a little thought into what you write. People here are very helpful, but there are limits. The post may have been sarcastic and maybe even rude, but he had a valid point.
    Good luck.

I'd hazard to say that 10-15 minutes learning how to put on a condom is more useful than learning how to faff about with guns.

You do that on a daily basis, no? You react to what you think people mean, not what they say. You did it to me less than half an hour ago trying to tell me I was implying you were gay.
You don't understand that words you choose and the way you react to situations implies what you may or may not believe about the topic at hand.
When you tell people that certain women make it EASY to rape them, then yes, that's very easily translated to "well, she was asking for it with her clothing/behavior/attitude/meeting location, etc"

It's not a myth. Vacations do exist and Fam. Big Dog took one of those spending 12 days in Berlin. Little one got her wish and saw snow for the very first time in her life. On my birthday. Good times.

Your typing speed doesn't make what you're typing any smarter, Danno. Sorry.
Victims become victims because people assault them. A woman should be able to wear a revealing top without being raped. A woman should be able to drink alcohol around men without being raped.
Why are you so concerned with what the victims of these situations were or weren't doing, and not at all concerned with THE PEOPLE WHO RAPED THEM?!

Guess no one had that common-sense talk with the boys that just because a girl is drunk doesn't mean you get to have sex with her. Oh well. Boys will be boys, right Danno?

This is the P&R sub-forum. There is no need for an immigration slant in here, just as there is no need for an immigration slant to every topic in OT. I think you should "focus" on understanding that what you think the rules for VJ should be do not always coincide with what they are all the time.

I wondered when the nasty comments would start. You haven't stopped for one moment to think what on earth could have happened in the lives of these parents and children to come to the conclusion they have. You just jumped straight in with insults. Please do not predict my sons future based on your ignorant views.

Really? Do you know every individual who has had to make such a choice? Do you know the unique circumstances? Do you know the ages, wishes, personalities, needs and what is best for other people's children?
What gives you the right to come on here as a newbie no less, and appoint yourself as sheriff, judge, jury and executioner?
When we met we both had children. My son and daughter still lived at home with me but have since grown up and moved out. They would have had the option to move with me but neither one was interested.
My husband had partial custody of his son. My step son is disabled and was living in a special school when his father made the difficult decision to relocate. We go back as often as we can. My step son has no concept of time or missing his dad. Since his mum is still alive bringing him here is not an option. If anyone suffers it is my husband. Your narrow minded view has no place here. If you do not have something helpful to add to the conversation then it would be more helpful for you to do what my mom said and , "if you cannot say something nice then you should say nothing at all". Those of us who have had to make difficult choices really do not need someone who has no clue about what we have been through sitting in judgement trying to make parents feel worse than they already do. No one is perfect. Life is full of difficult choices but we only get one life. Sacrificing your happiness and living a miserable existence apart from the one person you were meant to be with, "for the sake of the children", is no way to live and benefits no one. Resentment toward the children you gave up everything for would probably follow. People do what is best for their family at the time. You have no right to judge others just because it does not suit you. I think all of the parents who have gone through this are brave. I also think it takes a selfless person to choose what is best for their child, even if that means leaving them behind.
