I know what you mean. It always irks me when I'm in a store, and there is a space the size of a football pitch between us and I hear an 'excuse me'. Like...dude you're a million miles away from me, you could fit the ISS in that gap. Back home using 'excuse me' is usually done with a stern voice, shaking your head as you walk away from the 3 old ladies who think it's acceptable to stand catching up on their life stories in the middle of the aisle.

When i had my two weeks internship in UK back in 2015 i felt more comfortable for sure as nothing could shock them and they had adequate reaction to everything. Even in Canary Wharf in London. Even at TESCO no one wants to know how is your day going! 😂

During My 4 previous touristic trips to USA i did not notice such details maybe because i was rambling on mostly with my friends or other tourists and did not go to those specific local places.

But this time I can clearly see every cultiral difference.

Hahahahaha same, I avoid public bathrooms like the plague. Can't get used to it, it's too weird!

I also can't get used to Americans greeting you by saying "how are you?". Just say hi, we both know you don't care about how I'm doing and I don't really want to ask about how your day is going in return. 🤷‍♀️ Also saying "excuse me" when you pass someone in a store aisle or wherever, even though there is plenty of space and you can pass the other person with ease.

In other words, I miss the European standoffishness 😂 I find it hard to connect to Americans, can't tell when they're being polite or actually interested.

Excuse me for coming across as the world's grumpiest person lol.

    OMG so true lol!

I assumed that only people from former USSR think similar! I am from Kazakhstan but sometimes i hear people talking behind something like “OMG she passed by and did not say sorry! She must be Russian!” 😂

i was literally 2 miles away from you when i was passing by 😆

And yes hard to tell when they are sincerely nice or just being fake nice or passive aggressive

  3. Someone from USCIS called me from unknown number and told me that interview has been cancelled (even if i got several days ago a letter about rescheduling) and informed me that i will get two more letters from them soon in the mail: one will be regarding the cancellation and later on one more following regarding the new date of the interview.

    So timeline as the following:

First interview appointment received on 29 January (for 05 March)

Second letter of rescheduling recieved on 23 Feb (for the same date different time) but was dated 20 Feb

Got call from USCIS today 25 Feb regarding the cancellation of reacheduled interview.

Did you accept your job offer prior to obtaining the ead? In other words, are you "allowed" to accept a job offer even without an ead in hand, as long as you don't start working until you have the ead

The Company gives you a certain timeframe to accept the job at least in my case they stated something like “The job offer is valid for bla bla time and non acceptance of it will be considered as refusal etc”

Now you've expedited successfully, maybe you could share some tips for those that wish to be successful in doing so too? :P

    😂

we have sent a Cover Letter stating that my husband lost his second job and that we are experiencing difficulties with dental care for my son, we sent my Job offer, my husband’s termination Letter from the second (not primary one) job, dental treatment expences for my son who is covered by my husband’s insurance and showed all receipts and sent the future dental treatment recommended by Dental Clinic.

We did not involve any Congressmen.

What is more my k1 took super long time (longer than any other applicants’ k1) and we hired a lawyer who ###### the case up on k1.

This time for AOS and EAD we filed and applied without any lawyer and it got better lol

But also we did not apply for AP which maybe could help as probably it took less time for them to put all files together and process less papers... who knows what is on their mind really...

i wish everyone to get their EAD soon!

    😁

Anyone else starting to find the lack of independence hard? It's probably just because it's a bad day, but I feel like I'm stuck without the ability to leave or do anything in the nearby towns. Can't even open a bank account because my husband's bank requires me to have an SSN.

The bank added me to husband’s account (not credit one though) without SSN but i drive with my foreign license ... because i cannot change it still to american one at least here in Colorado without SSN.

  7. Hi everyone!

    My timeline is below:

11/13/2018-Filed AOS and EAD (did not file for AP)

    11/19/2018- Received status

    12/12/2018-Biometrics

12/15/2018-requested To expedite my EAD but it was ignored

01/02/2019- Requested to expedite my EAD again and got email the same day requesting to fax the evidence

01/07/2019- Faxed evidence as per their request to fax

    called multiple times last week

yesterday 01/24/2019- AOS status changed to “Case is ready to be Scheduled for an interview”

EAD status is still “received” and never changed since November

01/22/2019 case history shows that assigned to an officer and that they sent a response and request is completed.

Have to wait couple of weeks i guess...

The key word is FILED. Not approved or completed. So has anyone ever FILED for you besides your current petitioner (in this case,  you = beneficiary). If so YES, if not NO. Most answer it NO as they have never had a case FILED for them prior to their current petitioner.

😅thanks. Was freaking out full of doubts after submission already as NO. Thank you so much as usual!
