  1. My husband does not speak English that well, we got our interview notice and it says if you need an interpreter to bring one with you, does anyone know if USCIS wants a certified interpreter or just anyone fluent in his language and English is fine? Has anyone taken an interpreter with them to the interview that was not a certified interpreter like a family member or friend? We just don't want to pay $300-$500 to someone if we don't need to.

Such fun times. I'm stressing over that stuff already, I'm still in med school so we don't have a lot of evidence mostly pictures and her name on utilities and banks. I need to get a ID still with the same address but we move in 3 months again. Luckily her medical is still valid and we finished her vaccine records.

Same here, we got married in November so I have my 2018 taxes filed jointly, and we have our apartment lease agreement, his on my insurance, and we have a utility bill or two under both of our names, thats about it. Considering we have been married for less than a year its normal not to have a ton of things, we have photos with family members and relatives here during holidays and events and I think that is more important than having both of the names on a piece of paper, and if your marriage is legit there is nothing to worry about, they are trying to filter out the fraudsters, those who are legitimately married almost never get denied unless there is sponsor income issue or criminal background or you lied on your application about something.

So my wife (beni) and I (citizen) are currently in the AOS process and received a RFE for the I-864. I'm a week away from starting a $3,500/month (hourly paid) job after taxes. I was a full time student till this past May and banked $1,100/month and made an additional $6,000 of taxable income during the 1st quarter of the year. I fully understate that I likely filled out the I-864 Part 6 Item 7 "my current annual income" wrong now that I have read up on it more (I put previous year tax income). I do have liquid assets I can put down to supplement income. The required by date is Sept 20, 2019 but earlier is always better with these folks.

I guess my question is how in the heck do I fill this form out without having a current paycheck/stub, what do I include as evidence, what would be a recommended course of action to get this thing approved?

Any and all helpful advise is welcomed. Thanks

If you have the offer letter with your monthly income or hourly rate and date of start for your new job include that as evidence, I would wait one week, start the job and put my current income as $3500 and include the offer letter or letter from the employer verifying that amount, so technically if you submit the information after the start date of your new job that IS your current income, also include bank statements, and any assets you have. Or just wait until you get a paycheck and then send it in, if you are starting your job in a week you should get paid by end of July at least once, so you have plenty of time, its better to give it a few weeks then send it than get another RFE or denial based on income. Don't risk it, be safe, and always send supporting evidence with anything you provide USCIS.

Does it matter which office your application went to? We're in queens and I'm hoping because we got notice that we're already scheduled means it's likely in 4-6 weeks not several months away.

Well the I-485 starts in Chicago at the national service center I believe, then moves to your jurisdiction, I think when they say interview scheduled its already at your local field office and you are just waiting for the post office to deliver. Give in a couple of days, like I said mine was scheduled for interview on 6/26 and I got the letter yesterday, so if yours is 6/27 you may get it today or by end of week, just keep in mind Thursday is a holiday.

Have you checked your mail today?

Does anyone know if the case status online changes to when they actually mail out the interview notice?
Our case i485 from K-1 says interview was scheduled June 27th and last week they said they mailed a notice. Now today the agent said they have not mailed anything and kept reading my online status to me and telling me it will update to when they mail out a notice with interview date.
How do you request a level two officer, just ask immediately?

    Thanks for any help

Anyone have a comprehensive list of case status?

My app that uses the old system updated first on 6/26 saying interview scheduled, then the following day the new website said interview scheduled, I got the notice in the mail yesterday. So you should get yours any day now, the app never updated that notice was mailed, it just showed up.

  6. I checked my USCIS app yesterday and it shows interview scheduled as of yesterday, does anyone know how long it takes to get the notice in mail with the date and instructions? It was ready for interview as of April 3rd and just changed yesterday, which I was not expecting to change for several months, Los Angeles wait times are over a year, so I was pleasantly surprised. New website is still not showing the update.

  7. I received an update online that my husbands case is ready for interview, and a notice will be mailed out once it is scheduled... on April 3rd. When I check USCIS website for Los Angeles processing time it says 12 to 20 months processing time, and that they are working on August 17, 2017. Does anyone know if we will be waiting that long for interview? How long did it take for you to receive your interview date it the mail once it updated it was ready for interview.

Does anyone know the best place to get married in the surrounding Los Angeles area? I've been doing research and hearing that it takes a while(up to 10 weeks) to get your marriage certificate if you get married in Los Angeles County. Does anyone know if getting married in Orange County or Riverside county have a faster process in obtaining your marriage certificate?  I don't want to get married in LA county and then end up having to wait that long for the marriage certificate.

    Thanks in advance.

I got married in Los Angeles, did take about 4 weeks for it to be ready for print at the office, and an additional week for it to arrive in the mail. My friend got married in Sacramento and got a certified recorded copy same day!!! I didn't know other surrounding areas were faster, or I would have done it at another county, if you can wait 4-5 weeks then do it local, if not go somewhere else its worth the drive.

    Hello everyone

So I’ve filed for my AOS on the 31st of December and received the NOA1 on the 8th of January my NOA1 received date is the 2nd of January. I still haven’t received a biometrics notice, is this normal? My case is at the NBC

Do I need to call and make sure I have not missed my bio  appointment?

    Please advise thank you 😄

My NO1 date is January 3rd, we received the bio-metrics appointment letter January 11th, it was scheduled for January 23rd. I think my husband got lucky and had the bio appointment scheduled really fast (1 week!). However if you are worried give USCIS a call, neither the old site nor the new site for case status check updated when appointment was scheduled, only updated on 1/25 when his fingerprints were processed.

Any type of wedding ceremony can still get her denied entry at the border. Do not do this, plan for after the US marriage and make a big deal of it for later.

My friend just had her wedding reception including a church ceremony in Armenia with her fiance in July, he had his interview on 9/4 and got approved and just got notice his visa is ready and he can pick it up in a couple of days. As long as you don't get legally married under court of law then fiance visa can still be recognized. He brought pictures of their reception to his interview as proof that relationship is genuine, the officer did not have an issue with it.

So its not an automatic denial of  K1 visa if you have a reception or even get married in church, technically having a marriage ceremony is not recognized as real marriage unless a marriage license is signed by appropriate parties and filed, and you get a marriage certificate recognizing your marriage as legal and true. So don't worry too much, you might just need to wait out the AP time, many couples do reception abroad since family members from beneficiaries country might not be able to travel to US for the wedding. I actually know a few couples that did that and still got K1 visa approved.

Hey Quick question for you guys as you have already gone through this step....

When submitting your "Tax Return" (along with the affidavit & letter of intent) has anyone blocked out their social security number? Are there any issues with doing so? I'm only concerned about the tax return ever getting lost or into the wrong hands.

I'm a MARCHIE and we're on deck!!! 😍 I'm gathering all these documents now. Thanks for your help!

Not sure if that's a good idea, how else would they verify that is YOUR tax return if your SSN is omitted. This goes to US Embassy, so I would not be too worried about your information being stolen, and some of that paperwork is returned to the beneficiary in the packet they give him for POE, other documents are shredded. I doubt there are nefarious individuals sitting waiting to steal SSN from US citizens. You have a higher chance of that when applying for jobs or running credit on the State side.

No we are using the Bermuda consulate.

Best place to go is your country's portal, other vj members may have shared their experience. I know some embassies use email for P3 some mail, others may call. And each Embassy process is different, Armenia is pretty simple, but other embassies may request documents before you can schedule your interview. Or go on the consulate website and see if they have information regarding the process.

They haven’t yet, our case just arrived to the embassy on 8/23 I’m anticipating P3 this week, last I checked there was 9/27 still available for interview... I think that’s the last slot for September. My friend who also applied got the P3 on 8/17 and Embassy got her case 8/9 so if the timeline is consistent I’m hoping he gets the P3 this Friday... I did book the interview already though and he is calling for medical tomorrow

finally got an email today from NVC with the case number. Will call tomorrow for the invoice #. How long afterwards did the embassy contact your fiancé for an interview?

Update: he got the P3 by email today, and has his medical on 8/30. Are you using Armenia as your Embassy for visa?

Each Embassy is different. Some allow you to schedule your interview once you get your case number and even before the file has arrived at the Embassy. Others allow appointment scheduling but not till the case goes to ready. Others require you to wait till you are notified by the Embassy (P3), then you complete everything and send it all back to them. Once they have it they throw the switch which allows you to schedule. So it's all over the board.  What does the P3 copy you have say?

BTW, I try and help others with a advance copy of the P3 for their Embassy and I don't have one for your Embassy. If you feel comfortable in sharing, I would like to use it to help others who will come behind you. Just PM me if that's what you liked to do. Thank you.

The site actually allowed me to pay the visa fee and schedule the interview, P3 that my friend got only gives instructions to schedule medical and interview, and comeplete DS-160 and tells you what docs you gotta bring to the interview, I will probably get the P3 for my fiancé this upcoming week, our case went to ready status 8/23, there were just no dates for a week when my friend was waiting and then they opened 8 in September so I didn’t want to lose a spot waiting for P3. I’ll send you a copy of the P3 I have.

  16. Scheduled interview for September 11th!

Still waiting to get P3 but it should come in next week and he can schedule his medical. I already have a copy that a friend received last week so I know its just instructions and doctor location. I am so excited, but a little worried, maybe I did it to early? Has anyone scheduled interview before getting P3? Embassy got our case yesterday 8/23.

does anyone have any idea how long it takes NVC to receive your paperwork? I received an approval notice for the K-1 visa on 8/9/18 and called the NVC yesterday and no trace of my paperwork and it seems I can’t ask any further questions till 6 weeks have passed.

Its taking about 2-3 weeks for NVC to get the case and assign the case number, if you got your NOA2 on 8/9 it has been 15 days, just call once a day NCV at 603-334-0700. They email you the NVC# when your case goes out to the Embassy, so you can wait for that too, but it can be 1-2 weeks after your case # is actually assigned. I got NOA2 on 7/24, NVC recieved application 8/9 assigned case# 8/13, I got the email on 8/21 with case # and notice that its in transit to embassy. So you are still within normal processing time.

Make sure you get your invoice # too, the email I got from NVC only had the case #, so its a good thing I called ahead of time and got both numbers.

I hope they still change today up to tomorrow. Maybe their site it still being updated and it is done all at once?
The others you mentioned, what day did they get their Case number? I'm thinking their timeline shows the day they found out but not exactly the day it was assigned meaning it can be earlier?

My case was received 8/9 and case # assigned 8/13, it has updated to in transit yesterday 8/21..not sure what the cut off is but the good news if your case didn't go out this week, then it will in 2 weeks...be patient, we waited for months for USCIS, NVC is probably the fastest in this process

I looked over the portal information and even though it's a year old, I really don't see much that would have changed. Payment process or Doctors would only be in my guesstimation that would change. So I'd follow it till you receive additional information from the Embassy.

    Portal http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=Armenia&cty=Yerevan

    Also review this information https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-am/iv

    Your Embassy's website https://am.usembassy.gov/visas/

If you get a copy of the P3 from your Embassy could you scan a copy and email it to me here on VJ using PM. I use them to help others who will come behind you. I just don't have one for your Embassy so I hunted around so that you could have an idea what to expect. Thanks.

My friends fiance received the packet 3 through email, I will forward you a copy as soon as my fiance gets it. My fiance has already requested and got police certificates from Russia and Armenia, and I am completing the DS-160 with the attorney tomorrow, I-134 is also ready to go, we are waiting for the P3 at this point to schedule the medical and interview date. The only thing I am not sure about is if we use the 2nd link you attached to schedule interview or contact embassy directly...I guess we will find out in 2 weeks or so
