So i just called NVC and the person keep telling me that they receive the mail but he doesn't tell me if they scan it yet or not. I asked if its scanned yet or not and he is "We received the package today". I don't know what that mean? So they haven't put it in the system yet?

Usually they do it the following business day or max within 2 days of receiving :)

  2. I had the same question and one of the NVC agents suggested that answering a no and explaining that no was the best choice as it wasn't in compliance with US law. I chose no and explained it is in compliance with beneficiary's country.

I don't think they look into that too much as wrongful answer. The medical examiner gets the last say about what you are missing even if you answer yes or no. So don't worry :)

may be in the instructions can you please have a look

To be honest I have gone over that letter several times and no where it mentions about beneficiary passport validity. They don't mention that because that letter doesn't guarantee a visa. So it is best if you contact your local embassy about it.

The visa once issued gives you 6 months to immigrate to US. So I am guessing if the passport isn't valid until then, it is best if you apply for renewal.

hi I think u received instructions for visa interview. How long the passport validity should be there from date of interview. Normally for non immigrants it is 6 months. what about immigrant visa.

That won't be mentioned in the interview letter. The letter simply states the date and time of interview along with instructions to bring other documents. I am not too sure about the passport validity. Sorry!

I am curious and confused about two things:

    (1) Do you send AoS packet before the IV packet? I already have a cover page for it. At the same time, travel.state.gov recommends sending everything in ONE packet. What should I do?

    (2) How did you guys submit documents to NVC  - was it upload or email or regular (physical) mail?

I am assuming that your consulate country is India by your topic stating it is BMB case (Mumbai Consulate)

    1. You need to send both packets in one mail. Do no send it separately. You can however send the whole packet before you complete online D-260 since you have your cover page.

    2. You have to send by regular mail and not upload/email as India is not under electronic uploading (PIVOT)

Gosh - what was I thinking! I thought the NVC stage would be a fast process. How wrong I was. 8 business days of waiting for a cc and at this rate counting ...

I had to vent. I know I am not the most patient person on the planet (as my husband rightly acknowledges).

Just in case, if anybody is still interested: Research indicates that we need three aspects to be met in order for us to feel happy in life. (1) be part of a group or a good sense of belonging (2) Appreciation - feeling valued, appreciated and acknowledged, and (3) last but not least - having a sense of control over your own life. Hahaha - that went down pretty fast.

Okay, off to happier thoughts now.

Hang in there! I am guessing you are a pivot case? Your case complete is probably right around the corner. On the bright side, it is more frustrating to wait for interview being scheduled at the embassy as each embassy follows their own scheduling. There were so many who had case closed by mid month for Mumbai and had to wait until the end of the month to have interview scheduled because Mumbai embassy mostly does end of the month scheduling. I am not sure how Germany consulate works though :D

Hello everyone! After trying in the past to bring my fiancé here on a K1 visa and being denied, I am planning to visit her soon and had plans to just get married there. I was wanting to do it here, but it's cheaper there and I've settled on just having a reception here instead. According to stories I have read it does not go along with what the US Embassy has listed on their webpage. Is there someone that can tell me where to look and find out the accurate information on what I need to do. Also before saying check the forums, I have and all date back years ago so I am hoping to hear back from recent dealings.

What you need to do regarding applying for CR-1? I'm afraid I don't understand what you are asking.

What thats mean...i hv my number nd invoice 14 days ago ..can i do the 6 steps....or still no eligible

Congrats! You case is complete at NVC. This status shows up only after you have uploaded or sent your 6 steps. If you haven't sent your affidavit of support forms and other fees, you should contact NVC. Have you sent your documents to NVC?

    Hi,

I have already filed for AOS. No RFE yet.

Also i came as a visitor but not with an intention to become an immigrant. I happened to meet my hubby and we dated for sometime and decided to get married.

I have hired an attorney who is handling my case and he said there is no issue in adjusting AOS from B2.

    Thanks for your reply though.

    Oh okies :) Good Luck!

    Hi Guys,

This is my first post in this group and I need some suggestion.

    1. I came to US in Feb 2017 on B2(Visitor) visa to visit my family. I often come to US for 6 months in US almost every year. My I-94 expiry date was Aug 2017. I was taken to secondary inspection at POE regarding my frequent visits.

    2. I met my husband in May 2017. He was a Green card holder. We decided to get married and filed for my B2 extension and I-130 for Consular processing. Since then I am in US. I have not received any decision on my first extension so after 6 months I filed for my 2nd B2 visa extension so that I can stay in US. In the meantime my husband filed for his citizenship and today 04/06/2018, he becomes the citizen and I become his Immediate relative.

All the above processing was done by our attorney till date except my husband's citizenship process (which we had done ourselves)

Now here is the current situation.

    1. I had filed my I-130 petition in F2A category. My PD is July 25, 2017. There is no NOA2 received yet.

    2. Now I have become an immediate relative that means I don't have to wait for my date to be current and I can file AOS and packet IV.

I want to know where should I send my papers to upgrade my application. USCIS or directly to NVC?

I want to submit all my papers myself instead of going through an attorney as I already gave the hefty amount to him and there is an additional cost which is equivalent to the fees he is asking.

    Please advise.

Please note that coming to visit on B2 and to file I130 is a huge red flag as US Immigration considers it grounds for fraudulent case and you may be subject to denial of visa. Kindly check your status online and make sure you don't have any RFE's related to your case. To me it seems like you didn't hear anything because at the time of filing you were not immediate relative or because you had RFEs sent to you which you are unaware of.

It would be best if you leave the country and then update your husband's citizenship to USICS and then go ahead with the case from there so there aren't any problems with visa approval in the future.

    Just my opinion. :)

I guess it can always change, the lady on the phone indicated it would not be a pivot case.  So guess we will wait and see.  Do you know where we find information about PIVOT vs Non-PIVOT cases?  I don't really understand the difference or what it means.

No travel.state.gov has taken down the list as many countries are changing to electronic submission. Pre Immigrant Visa Overseas Technology (PIVOT) means you have to electronically upload your documents for NVC and they will have them sent electronically again to your consulate for interview once NVC completes your case. Non-PIVOT means you have to manually mail your documents to NVC and after case completion NVC will manually mail those to your consulate for interview.

Usually PIVOT cases take at least 10 weeks for assignment of Case# and Invoice from the date of arrival at NVC. Non-PIVOT on the other hand can get their case numbers as early as 7 weeks. Being a PIVOT, they have the advantage of having their cases complete within 5-7 business days while non-PIVOT take around 8-10 business days.

    Hope it helps! :)

Just wanting to see exactly how many people are waiting for ciudad Juarez and what their cc is... i have been on some of the other threads but it's all consulates mixed together so I figured I'd start one specifically for those who are waiting for juarez.  My husband's cc is April 14th we are still waiting for an appointment. I heard Juarez is one of the busiest consulates but not sure.

Yes it is very busy. Last I remember seeing members from mid February CC getting interviews scheduled in June. I know I am not that embassy but just wanted to pitch in :)

    Hi,

UPS delivered our documents to NVC on 4th May 2018. But we still didn't receive a confirmation email from NVC.

Should we wait or do you think we should call  NVC to find out if they recieved it?

And if they did receive, how long does it usually takes to get case completed?

You don’t get any notification from NVC about receiving. The only way to find they received and scanned your documents is to call and ask them.

From the date they scan it into their system (ask them if it has been entered into their system) it will take 1-2 weeks for case complete. Now they are completing faster so maybe in a week. Good luck! 😊

    Hello dear all,

We submitted our documents to NVC on 18 April. And the Ceac website shows ‘At NVC’. When should i expect to hear from NVC? When should i start calling them?

    We are a non-pivot case.

Congrats! That means your case has been completed! You should receive an email once they start scheduling interview for you. You can call them anytime to ask about the same. :)

In my case, my wife’s brother was the joint sponsor and he filed i864a for me since my wife’s income was not sufficient as she is with me here in India. In your case, if the combined income of your husband and his mother is comfortably above the 125% of the poverty limit for your household size, then it is not required to get any more additional support. Eg: limit according to the guideline is 35k and the combined income is 45k. If it is only slightly surpassing the threshold amount, it is better to get an additional affidavit from your hisband’s dad too. I hope it helps :)

Just a random question, isn't the guideline around 25K for household of 3? Because that is what I remember seeing somewhere. I tried to look up now and according to this website it says actually 20K for the same household number. When you say 35K how did you get that?

    Thanks!
