Never thought the day would come! We had our AOS interview yesterday at the Queens office in Federal Plaza (though we live in Manhattan). We filed AOS mid May 2018. The process went smoothly. She asked us very few questions: How did we meet? Where have we traveled recently? Then asked my husband (beneficiary) if he’s ever committed any crimes. That was it. It lasted about 10 minutes and we waiting an hour after our scheduled time to go in to the interview. The interviewer was great- professional and easy going.
The only thing that caught me off guard was that she told us we were approved, but she was waiting for more paper work to arrive from other offices on our case before approving and we should receive the GC within 30 days. She said it might be that the EAD renewal application hasn’t arrived for her to look over yet. Hoping this doesn’t cause any trouble. I’ll post any updates on this in case it helps anyone else. Case status is now “Interview Was Completed and My Case Must Be Reviewed”
Good luck to everyone waiting!

☺️. When did you file ? Is it marriage based ?
Sorry haven't checked this for ages!
We filed our marriage based AOS on May 8, 2018 and have an NOA1 dated May 15, 2018. Manhattan based. Hoping our interview is after our 2 year of marriage mark so we get an unconditional green card, but I bet we'll get an interview just before that's possible haha! -
Celebrating a year since our AOS case has had any update today. I-485 was recieved 432 days ago. Last updated ready to be scheduled for interview 365 days ago 🥳
(we’re in Manhattan)

Anyone know if one can continue to work with an expired EAD if a replacement is pending? EAD expires within the next few months, but no replacement yet. Wonder what happens if there’s a long term delay.
Answered my own question haha! Glad automatic extension is still active.

No, nothing, until yesterday, when the I-485 status changed. But I guess it changes sometime after biometrics for everyone?
I just thought it was strange, because from a few cases I saw last year, they seemed to update that status later on in the AOS process, when the interview was actually like a month or so away. Seems this has changed.
The same happened with us too! Biometrics was June 4th and I-485 changed to Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview on July 16th (10 days ago)
How are you holding up so far with the the free time you have? My partner has been fine so far for the past three months here, writing a lot and keeping busy, but I suspect at a date not too far into the future he's going to get stir crazy

Great idea! I'll be following this thread Just updated my signature with my current status

Hi, of course I can guide you, although I heard that they are really strict right now and it is way harder to get case expedited so I am not sure if my advice will help. Yes you need to call to make inquiry, First I called Uscis, and I didn’t even have to speak to tier 2. First person that I spoke to was able to make inquiry. I simply said that I want to expedite ead based on severe financial loss to a person and She did inquiry, asked me couple questions and told me that I will receive an email with fax number and information about paperwork they need me to fax. I got email the next day and responded to it. My fax contained:
1. Cover page I made myself with all our information, case number, inquiry number etc. I explained in my own words how my situation looks like, why I want to expedite, why I need it so bad.
2. print screen of the email that they send me, as it was said in the email to attach it to the fax.
3. letter from my employer with job offer
4. letter from employer with job description. Everything on official stationery. And that is all, 4 pages.
I didnt hear nothing from them at all for 3 weeks and than I received update that card is in production.
Where did you hear they are really strict now?

I'm seeing a lot of people who sent their AOS packet on 5/11, and got their NOA1 on the 18th. I sent mine on 5/11, my check was cashed on the 18th, but no text or email. I know its only been two extra days and I'm sure itll come soon, but you know this process can be overwhelming so I'm worried a tad bit. :/
I sent my AOS packet on the 8th and got no text/email, but a letter in the mail yesterday with a NOA1. So don't worry! Maybe it's the same for you

Okay @Paul & Mallory @blenheim @camillamilla and anyone else who may have some input on the Stockholm embassy interview - what financial docs did they seem most interested in?
We will of course bring the I-134 (wet signature petitioner), the 1040 for 2017 (signed, but copy), employer's statement (wet signature by HR), salary raise letter (no signature), pay stubs for the last three or four months, letter from petitioner explaining his occupation (studies) before he started working in June 2017 (wet signature petitioner). I also got copies of his bank statements (one for every single one of the past 12 months) but they do not really say date opened. But then I read the I-134 instructions and they said to bring evidence that "apply to your situation". And we will rely on his income, not his assets/bank balance, for the sponsorship, so I'm not sure how important these bank statements are.
I didn't go to the interview myself, so this is what I remember from what my partner shared. He said they only took the i-134 and financial proof, everything else he kept (good less papers we have to fetch for AOS!!). He said the whole interview lasted only about 15 minutes and was generally pretty pleasant. They were most curious as to how we met, not in a questioning way, but more in a they were interested kind of way. Apparently most people who meet online in Sweden do so through gaming they said, whereas we met in instagram which wasn't very usual. The CO asked him why he wanted to move here instead of vice versa and he said to further his career and apparently the CO really liked that answer.
You're going to breeze through this and be hoping over in no time!! 😎

Thank you, Blenheim! According to the link above, at least i should have got my case# if not sent to the local embassy. I know it's depends on the country I have the process to, but looking at your timeline, you started your process exactly 2 weeks after me and I have yet to get my case# let alone an interview date. Anyway, I guess all have to do is just wait. Thank you for your help!!
Hoping you receive a case number and some news very soon!!
