My husband is Dutch and we filed for his ROC in October 2016. We had to go down to our local office last month to get a I-94 stamp because his driver's license was expiring and he would be unable to re-new it. His Dutch passport is also currently expired which is why he had to do the I-94 stamp.
Yesterday my husband received his approval letter, however this letter is from our local office in Fairfax, Virginia, the same office we went to to get his I-94 stamp, it is not from the VSC which is where his ROC went to in October 2016. Our case status online still has the same blah blah blah message that's been there since they received his filing fee in October 2016. In addition today he received another biometrics letter showing an appointment for 02/28/18.
Has anyone had this happen? Does he still have to go to do the biometrics even though he has an approval letter stating his card will be received in 60 days?
I wonder why the local office sent this letter, did going to the local office to get the I-94 stamp prompt them to just finish his process for him rather than wait on VSC?
We are confuzzled! Any ideas or advice?

This is interesting with the case transfer messages happening now.. this person reported an approval from their local office on 2/17. Neptune2011 can you by any chance check the WAC # on the 797 receipt and see what it says? What happened at your biometric appointment yesterday?

As far as I can tell, those people were March and April 2017 VSC filers who were due to get approvals anyway based on VSC processing pace. So that actually makes it less likely that the cases were really transferred.

Stomo, how was my statement not correct with respect to your situation?
How could you meet the condition today of 'have not checked' if you admit you checked previously on yesterday?
I checked on the 26th and got an error message that the number was not valid (same as before). On the 27th the number worked and said my case had been received that day. I'm not saying that there isn't some kind of system issue, but if your theory was correct then I would have gotten the message on the 26th when I checked the first time.

It would definitely explain why there was almost no progress at the CSC since last November. I remember the processing time was showing around July or August 2016 when we applied and it's hardly moved forward since then. So that's about 4 months additional delay on top of the existing 1.5 year delay at CSC. Maybe most of the employees were packing up cases for transfer and only 1-2 people were left to do the approving? Although that wouldn't really explain why VSC kept approving at a pretty steady rate all along though. Unless they just have a lot more staff and/or fewer petitions overall.
The status change could also be some kind of programming error. It's true that the 797 notice numbers are coming online gradually and with different dates. Mine went from being invalid number to Case Received at Local Office from one day to the next.
Several people mentioned the Tier 2 officers spoke of having 2 different systems they look in. I'm thinking the biometric number is the number for one system, and the 797 number is for the other system. Before now the other system status updates were not available for 751 filers, although they are available for other types of apps like 485. It could be that they are simply enabling the applicant to view the updates in this second system and somehow the wrong message is being shown as part of that process. There is some stuff on their website indicating that they are trying to get more online functionality available, like they are now allowing filing fees to be paid online with a credit card.
Anyway, who knows! Will be interesting to see what happens.
Edited to add: it also fits in with people hearing that there are going to be more interviews and people getting unannounced home visits from local officers which seems to be a new thing

I think I've read before that SSA won't accept the extension letter once the conditional green card is expired.. so I guess we have to wait awhile. Don't really need it at the moment.

Our status hasn't updated yet (Nov 17) but I think it would be a good thing if it gets moved. Our field office doesn't seem to be too terribly behind. Agree I'd rather have to go down there and get a resolution than wait 2 years!

Just checked my case status and it hasn't changed. I am only able to get a result using the biometrics number. The receipt number on the extension letter doesn't work.

I just left everything blank if it wasn't applicable. Our check was cashed, we got the NOA1 and did our biometrics. Didn't seem to make much difference.

Has anyone traveled recently using expired green card and extension letter on Condor Airlines or Lufthansa (German airlines)? Were they familiar with the documents?

I read through the 751 form again and it is designed so that a child who does not meet the criteria (over 21 or married) can file on their own. I guess you would choose this option under Joint Filing - "My parent's spouse because I am unable to be included in a joint petition filed by my parent and my parent's spouse. "
Maybe they initially thought that the 751 was ok but then realized it was not and rejected it? Can you check the case status using his biometric notice number?

Can I ask how you know this? Do you have connections at CSC? I would very much like to believe that you are correct! I read the theory about DACA applications slowing down now, but that doesn't necessarily mean they will work on 751 instead does it?

Of course, the slow down has nothing to do with USCIS working slower just because there is another president.
To the original poster, please add to your spreadsheet the I-821D statistics 2016 vs 2017.
That will show that there has been a surge of I-821Ds (a significant and undeniable surge) in 2017 and most likely has re-shifted resources inside USCIS and I-751s have been given the lowest priority. (I know VSC is faster, but not much faster, only 3 months ahead).
The surge is probably due to panic, lots of people that were afraid or not ready to file I-821D, suddenly realized that Trump wants to terminate the program, therefore the surge and panic.
I-821D: 260k received in 2016 vs 472k received in 2017

Our biometric appointment this week was super fast. Hardly anyone there, in and out in 10 minutes.

Updated with our NOA1 and biometrics date. Keep an eye out for those biometric letters, ours is scheduled between Christmas and New Year.

Can someone confirm if I am correctly understanding the implications of filing the N400 as soon as possible while I-751 is still pending?
We just applied for the I-751, my NOA is dated December 1st 2017. This is at CSC. I am looking at the dates and it looks like they are currently processing July/August 2016 applications. That is a roughly 1 year 5 month timeframe if they keep the same pace.
I believe my field office for N400 would be San Antonio. The processing date for N400 is February 2017, is it correct that this means there is about a 10 month timeframe right now for N400 to be completed?
If I filed N400 around December 1st 2018, is it correct that I would in theory only be adding 5 months to the total process and then we would be done with everything?

We received the NOA1 dated December 1st. I will update the list when we get our biometric letter so I only have to do it once.

There is a way to do it, last time we came through customs my husband's valid green card would not scan for some reason. We had to type the number in manually and that worked.

For those of you who have Global Entry and are using the letter or stamp for international travel, are you still able to use the TSA Pre service while traveling domestically without any issue? Is it correct to say that the Global Entry/TSA Pre statuse itself does not get interrupted, it's just more of a kiosk issue when coming back through customs? TIA

Hi all, just joined and adding to the Nov 2017 filer list. Hope I did this correctly. We did E2 and initial marriage green card through a lawyer, but we are doing ROC ourselves with no lawyer. Conditional green card expires in late Feb 2018.

Check the October 2016 thread.. someone posted mid-February that they got an approval letter from their local office and a notice to do a 2nd biometric appointment. This post seems to have gotten missed, no one ever answered it. I asked them what happened, maybe they come back and update us.
