Naturalized in early May. Finally submitted passport application yesterday morning based on the fast turnaround time posts we are seeing here. Fingers crossed we also land in one of these fast buckets!

In which group you read that?
It wasn't an immigration group, it was a group about Americans living overseas on Facebook
-
I read in another group that they started processing the backlog and someone who applied in February from overseas got a notification that their passport is in the mail now. Baby steps slowly slowly.. we are waiting to apply for our initial passport until expedited becomes available. That way if we do have an emergency come up we will still have our documents and can go in person

Two different decision trees. Maybe the volume of passport applications is so low that operating the second print facility makes little sense
Except people who applied for their passports in Feb still haven't received them, there is a backlog of over 1 million applications and immigrants who just naturalized have almost zero chance to get their passports anytime soon.

Apples and oranges
Two different processing streams but the same department and leader. The point is there are places where they could have reopened if they wanted to for some time now. So yes there is a question as to whether the department really wants to resume providing these services.

I don't think there was ever a question about the department of state wanting to restart visa services. Consulate reopening is contingent first and foremost about local conditions. As an example, Tokyo might be on the verge of restarting but on the other hand, don't expect Rio to reopen anytime soon
Disagree. The State Department has not even reopened passport offices in Texas and the Irving TX passport printing facility (1 of 2) is still not staffed. The latest update on the passport website says they will reopen based on local conditions. There is nothing stopping them from reopening in Texas, a state that is pretty much back to normal at this point.

The passport website was updated today with new info https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/ea/passport-covid-19.html

I'm hopeful they will resume some sort of expedited processing option soon. If it's now safe for states to reopen, the federal government offices should be right there with them.

Good news congrats! I'm hoping that the oath ceremonies will be more determined based on what is happening in the local community in terms of shutdown status rather than the local office status. For example ours was canceled because the local venue where it was supposed to take place shut down operations that week even though ceremonies happened the same week in other places.

Yes. I hope so ! They can easily schedule Oath in small groups and get it going ! It doesn't require people to stand close unlike Interview. We will see.
Same boat here, oath ceremony was supposed to be this week and status now says de-scheduled.

Hey, did they schedule your oath taking ceremony?
I see that one San Antonio court ceremony in late March is now cancelled in the txwd calendar.
Yes we were scheduled and then canceled 2 days later But I'd rather not go out in a big crowd right now and have passport potentially get stuck because people can't work etc. anyway.

Hi folks,
Anyone from Austin/San Antonio area having their oath ceremony on Feb 28 2020 or at the US Court House(5th Street) in Austin. Mine is scheduled at US Court House in Austin. I do not have a name change so I am guessing its an administrative ceremony. I am a bit confused why they placed me for oath at the US Courthouse as I checked at the judges calendar and there is no ceremony under any judge on the 28th of Feb most probably since mine is not a judicial one. Can there be an administrative oath ceremony in the court house?
Please let me know guys,thanks
I read that some ceremonies can do both.. they just deal with the name changes at the end for those who have them. They have them in all kinds of places too. When was your interview?

That's great! Did you get a status update on myuscis about the interview approval? My status hasn't changed yet. Although I was given a paper saying I was approved. My online status is still stuck at "Interview Scheduled"

My interview is early morning on Monday in San Antonio. I am bringing the originals asked in the interview notice. Not sure if I need to bring photocopies of those originals as well? Do I also need to bring copies of the additional relationship evidence I supplied with my application?
How do you folks decide what to bring?
Ours is this week too, we are bringing the originals mentioned in the letter and our most recent bank statements/financial evidence. Also copies of the submitted application and the tax transcripts. Good luck for your interview and please post tomorrow how it went!

got an interview scheduled: 02/10/2020
I see that Austin Central Public Library has two oath taking ceremonies listed on their webpage, one in February and the other in March. Then the next scheduled ceremony is in June.
Congrats, please let us know how it goes!

applied 9/18/19
Waiting for interview call. Expected completion: 03/20
Interested to hear when your interview will take place. We applied about 1 month later and will be out of the country around the timeframe I think it will happen based on the timelines from this summer.. kind of hoping they slow down a bit for the holidays so we don't have to reschedule!

Hi, new San Antonio filer here (mid-October online app).
-
Joining in this thread, submitted Oct. 14th and have biometrics tomorrow. San Antonio field office.
-
Is there any indication that this will affect citizenship applications after Oct 15?
IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE: PASSPORT SHIPPED WITHIN A WEEK?
in Passports, etc. - What to do now that you are a US citizen

Congrats! Yes one other person reported receiving their passport this fast recently. Which state are you in? I'm starting to think that the passport center in Irving, TX is taking much longer than the office that handles the rest of the states.
