This stuff is really basic, isn't it?  Just watching TV around the 4th of July should give you most of the answers.  If you've lived in this country for 3-5 years, how can you not know where the Statue of Liberty is?

It's in Vegas. Give me one more citizenship right now.

    Hey guys!

Guess I will be joining this thread now that my approval has come through (July 2nd) we have already received noa2 confirmation in the post. However, myself and my husband are currently in Asia for the next six weeks backpacking. Now that we have been approved, should be fly back home? Or will it be a while until we hear the next few things? I know that we have to now wait for an NVC case number is that correct? If so how long does that take (I have read up to ten weeks?)

6 weeks is nothing in NVC/USCIS time. After NOA 2 it will take 2 to 3 weeks to it over to NVC and after that 2 to 3 weeks for Case Number and Invoice Number? Worse case scenario, you will lose a week because of your traveling schedule.

Main thing is to start collecting all the information NVC requests in DS260, supporting docs and Affidavit of Support (I-864).  This way you will be ready to submit everything right away and not wait days.

  3. It's partially USCIS fault too. Telling people it will take about 8.5 months to 11 months with no information in between whatsoever is what causes this flood of calls. I waited 6 months for my USCIS approval and I counted every single day. It wasn't easy. In this day and age, when companies like Amazon can tell you where exactly is your delivery truck minute-by-minute, nobody wants to sit and wait for 11 months with no information about such a major aspect of their life.

I want to ask one thing .my wife mentioned in ds260 that she is a student. But technically she is a full time student and work part time.so will it be problem for us .? Coz she mentioned in primary occupation that she is a student.

If she is a part time student, she should have filled that information the employment history section. DS260 has separate sections for education and employment history.

I Googled it but very little info available, looking at old posts on VJ London is a non pivot country.

London recently switched the Pivot (less than 3 months ago). At the beginning of this year London was not Pivot. They are also very heavily backlogged (my guess is because they just switched London embassy to a different location and switching to Pivot).

This letter means CC. You will get another letter from NVC when they schedule your interview appointment. It could be anywhere from couple of days to couple of months.

Acronyms are killing me :)  I know AOS is affidavit of support what is:

    1.  Pivot case

    2.  CEAC

    3.  IV Bill

    anything else Im missing

PIVOT = Pre Immigrant Visa Online Transfer (all documents are submitted online for a PIVOT case).

CEAC = Consular Electronic Application Center (this is the website where you upload all documents).

IV Bill = Immigrant Visa Bill ($325 as of today)

    HI,

AT NVC  is the status since 6/25/18 . No messages in the message box. What i should assume now for the next step? and how long should wait? for CC.

I am pivot and embassy is Islamabad.

Contarary to popular believe here, AT NVC is not equal to CASE COMPLETE (CC).  Are all your documents accepted on CEAC site? Is there any messages left by NVC? Did you get a CC email from NVC?

my step father is a co sponsor  he is married and has no dependent children as of this year ...he did claim him last year but turned 18 a few months ago .    he is sponsoring my wife and step daughter on 2 separate petitions

on part 3 and 5 sponsors household size  how would he fill this out.image.png.7e6eef68b18f46a05849793910470219.png

If he claimed someone last year and they are on his taxes, they are his dependent for immigration purposes.

I would say if your stepdaughter is a derviative beneficiary, you will include her here and for her petition, you will just include the photocopy of the original AOS

    Congrats @Jamilla !

That does sound easy, and it was. But unfortunately, my interview last week ended up in a request for ability to provide for self in the U.S. The relationship is real, the documents were perfectly fine, we met the income requirement, I have a substantial amount of savings, but still the officer apparently doubted we would be able to support the two of us in California (he said he was speaking out of experience since he used to live there).

I don't want to scare anyone, but please don't book your flights before going to the interview. I just posted as much evidence as possible to the embassy and I'm praying for the best =).

May I ask how far above the poverty line were you for the two of you? I have savings in the bank, but I didn't include any in my visa application as my income is several times higher than minimum required for sponsorship.

    Hello All!

Just called the NVC. I was told to call back and dial Option 5 which means that I'm either electronic/pivot if I understand correctly. NVC received the approved petition on June 27.

We have almost all of our documents ready. My spouse needs to get one more police certificate and also get a blood test proving he's had chicken pox so he's ready for his medical exam.

I'm hoping that we're lucky and Pivot works quickly for us as it seems to be working for some folks.

It's annoying how you can't pay the Affidavit of Support and Visa fees at the same time.

Fingers crossed for a case number and Invoice ID number soon.

Looking at your timeline, you are a lucky person if your USCIS case was approved in just 2 months.
