I got a little excited when my fiance gave me the list of things she would need for interview. I got the letter from my employer, bank statement, w2, etc. now i am soo worried i might be preparing too early? Im planning to send them next week and she will probably get it by 4th week of march. Our estimated time says April 20-25. Do you think everything would still be valid by the time she attends interview?
😩
You can do it. Mine is ready as I had to hand deliver in February. I did a few copies of the letter of intent and signed them with different dates. Same for the I-134. I will scan and email recent pays tubs and the NOA2 confirmation for his document check and I will bring the originals to his interview.

Is anyone else planning on going to their fiance's country to bring the paperwork? That's what we have been planning so far and since nobody has mentioned that i wonder, anyone anticipate any problems with doing that? Its getting so close, can't wait for all of us to be back with our loved ones so soon!
I went in February and dropped off the paperwork. I signed a few pages for the affidavit with different dates, April 1st (a girl can dream), may, June and July. Same with letter of intent. Only thing he is missing is the NOA2. I was planning on just bringing everything to the interview but he is in Cuba and they have a document check in Havana before they go to the appointment in Colombia. Yes, his interview is in a 3rd country, which he needs a visa to get to as well. It's a mess, especially because the Colombian embassy in Havana is overwhelmed and won't accept a visa petition more than 10 days before your appointment. I need wine, lots of wine. 🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️

The vaccine issue is very important. Some doctors during the medical won't complete the vaccine portion that you will need for the AOS part. Especially in Colombia. Make sure that during your medical you are adamant that they complete the vaccine portion form Ds3025 and that they give you a copy. It might be some more money if they are missing vaccines and they administer the shots there but is better than yo find out you need it for AOS and you don't have it. That will require going to a uscis certified doctor in the States to get it doneand you know our health care is not the best and it might be very expensive. Why pay twice?

And I also read that is more important for the adjustment of status, so maybe they will only require after this K1 process. But yes, the doctor will say and advise. Maybe it s more interesting to have them before if his country has a public vaccination programme to get them for free instead of paying in the clinic that he will advise.
It is very important. If the doctor doesn't fill the form ds3025 (ask for a copy) you might have to get a doctor that is certified through uscis to fill it out and check for vaccines so you are paying twice. Make sure you get it done during the medical since you are already paying for it and ask for a copy of the vaccine form.

Thanks to lots of advice here I finally got the application completed and mailed today (phew). Assuming the timeline I see here, I would expect my fiancé to receive his K1 visa by September. September would be ideal for him to come and we would marry in October when my daughter is home from college.
Questions—my fiancé has a wedding to attend for a family member in November in Ireland. Can he go to that?? If we file a change of status as soon as we are married in October, how soon could he be eligible to work? What about getting a drivers license?
thank you!
Hmmm, if you mailed today having a visa on hand in September is ambitious. The timeline here gives you estimated time of approval but doesn't count NVC transfer or the time it takes to get to the embassy plus medical and interview. Things have been moving faster but not that fast.

Hi VJ community,
Due to the US embassy closing in Cuba I'm not sure if we should get married here in Cuba or if we should tie the knot in the USA. In Cuba it seems a bit complicated for a non- Cuban to get married here in Cuba to a Cuban. I have to translate my birth certificate and have a Consular of Cuba in the USA put a seal on it. Aside from that it's $725 bit they handle getting the documents legalized for international use. Either way I know he has to go to Columbia for the medical exam and the interview but I'm just curious as to which way is better and more secure so that we can be together. Thank you
The process for the K1 has started to pick up for Cubans. The interview is in Bogotá, Colombia. Once your application is approved the case is sent to Colombia instead of Havana. What changes is that now the Cuban goes to Colombia for medical, fingerprints and interview. They will also have to apply for a Colombian visa. I believe you still have to go through that process with the CR-1. So it will be the cost of the wedding there plus bringing the person to Colombia. Pros with CR-1 is that they get the green card and can start working right away and you don't have to worry about adjusting status after the k1.

I've been around the world and seen "unpleasant" I've lived in China for 3 years and seen "unpleasant" and every time my plane lands on USA soil I'm so thankful I live in a country that protects my freedom and yours.
It is disappointing to enter the country in times of blatant racism being a foreigner. Before you jump on me telling me to stay home and don't come, I'm home since I'm the petitioner and I'm the US citizen. You telling someone to stay home for not being able to relate to your experience is wrong. Someone coming from a different country and dare to say a different color may have a harder time in the US because whether we like it or not racism is alive and well.

I think a facebook group would be extremely helpful. Should I set one up?
For the people whose interviews were canceled, holy moly - devastating. Please do keep us posted and we're sending good vibes your way.
xoxo Sarah
I love the idea of a FB group.

June 02 here - called on Monday and was told by Tier 2 that my case had been assigned to an adjudicator that day and that I should expect a letter in the mail stating as much. (That seemed unusual.)
Friday, no letter, called USCIS, and turns out I have NOT been assigned to an adjudicator. Finally wrote the ol' Congresswoman, but jeez louise this is hard to see hundreds of applications after mine getting approved. I cannot imagine how May filers are coping with this nonsense.
Plus the delays with NVC, plus we're Cuba, so who knows when we'll actually get an interview scheduled.
Don't even get me started with the Cuba situation, the embassy switch is a circus. I don't even know of anyone going to an actual interview in Bogotá.

Hey guys!
i hate being the one to say this...
this is the international part of the forum so English is the main language
so we all can understand.
but there's a regional part for all languages !
sorry... it's really not fun saying this for me either..
Didn't know, but she is new and said she is an October filer and can't wait to learn about the process and experiences. If I translate what I say, would it be OK? It sucks not to get answers because of a language barrier.

Hola!
Yo soy de Puerto Rico y mi prometido es de Cuba. La embajada en Havana no está operando así que una vez lleguemos al proceso de la entrevista nos va a tocar ir a Bogotá a finalizar. Bienvenida!!!

Hi Team Cuba,
In the data-driven spirit of VJ, trying to aggregate a list of Cuba filers and their status/updates on NVC/Visa Interview in Colombia. Hoping our collective knowledge can land us answers and maybe even an estimated timeline.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1T92HV6FyMPMY5N68eQ-Iz7Mmf_eWVWIsT3nXO1MTLxQ/edit#gid=0
Here's a list of folks I believe are planning to have their visas processed in a 3rd-party embassy. Would appreciate if ya'll indicate your status and respective dates/milestones.
Am I missing anyone?
Feel free to edit/add columns with any other important milestones I'm missing like date of receipt for Bogota Instructions email, etc.
Hi everyone!
I added my info to the spreadsheet. I'm nowhere near scheduling since I'm an October filer but I have been working on gathering all the paperwork needed to move forward. Curious to see some sort of timeline in dealing with the embassy in Bogotá. Especially for medical, since Ari mentioned in takes 3 days to complete medical and they need to be completed before the interview and the how long do they take to issue the visa. I think so far she is the closest one as I believe she is scheduled for interview at the end of this month.

Thank you for this. I can't watch the video yet cos I am at work but will do so when I get a break.
the link she sent asks us to schedule a medical exam--what if we already did that in Cuba? Do we have to do it again?
it also says we need to submit a ds260, but for Cuba we did a ds160...which is it?
I'm not sure if Colombia would honor the medicals from Havana, they have their own list of doctors. I'm an October filer, I'm just trying to prep as much as possible with process and paperwork, I don't even have a NOA2

Could you link please? I didn't see that post.
The scheduling people at the Colombia embassy said not to schedule yet as it isn't clear until we get instructions if we can use the same DS160.
