Sorta off topic, but as you might have read we filed back in October for AOS and my wife got her GC back in Feb (yay) but her passport still has her maiden name (Japan). We are planning on going out of the country in afew weeks and im pretty certain she cant get her Japanese PP changed in time... so my question is, on the tickets should i just use her maiden last name? Would that be a problem when we reenter?

Follow her info on her passport

Today, received letter to appear for interview on May 7 :)

Question to the group: Assuming GC is approved that day and I travel internationally the next day, with the EAD/AP card, I don't need to worry about visa stamp being expired, right? Also, can I still enter through Global Entry kiosk (I have access)?

After our interview, my husband asked the CO if ill be having any issues traveling outside the US not having the GC yet on hand. CO asked me if I already received my Combo card (which I did) and asked for it. CO said Ill be good as long that I have my Combo card and states at the bottom "serves as AP". 😊

I just checked my status and I-485  changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview" as well today at around 7PM.

    PD: 10/16/2018

No updates for EAD or AP yet...such a long process...does anyone know what happens after the case status changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for An Interview"? I saw online that the interview can be scheduled to like 6 months after or more. So scary!!

Hope my EAD and AP can get approved soon...

Your status will still change to "Interview was Scheduled" from ur current status now. From what Ive read from the other filers with same status as yours, some are stil waiting for almost a year the most for their interview sched.

We went in and met with an accountant because I was afraid of that happening! Did you have an income in your home country before coming to the states? If so, that should be included from what the accountant said since it would be considered worldwide income when filing in the states. If you had no income, I’d imagine you should put 0 for your AGI but it would be best to talk with a tax advisor as I don’t want to give incorrect info! Not sure how a rejected tax return works either in regards to whether you can re-file or if you’d have to see an advisor to fix it.

Sorry I can’t be of much more help!

My husband put 0 but it was still rejected. Im not sure if its still accepted (my previous income) but Ive been a stay at home mom for almost 5 (since I had my son). We are planning to make an appointment with H&R Block :)

Thanks a lot for ur reply :)

    Hey!

My husband and I just filed our taxes with an accountant at HR Block. We were told to file as married joint. He arrived in the states in August and received his SSN in October. Our tax advisor said that we had to include my husbands income when we file for taxes even though my husband already filed his own taxes in the UK before he came out to the states. We just received notice that both our federal and state filings were accepted.

I hope this helps even a little bit! We went to HR Block and they were very helpful.

The IRS website might provide more information to your questions.

Hello there! My husband tried to file his taxes online thru H&R Block as well. I have my SSN already. He filed jointly unfortunately it was rejected by IRS because it was asking for my AGI (Annual Gross Income). Any suggestion(s) what to else to do please? Your inputs will be greatly appreciated. :)

You’re welcome 😁 I haven’t got my visa until now. It’s been 8 days already. But my friend I met during my interview got hers yesterday. She just picked it up in 2Go SM Cebu branch.

And btw, I’m from Cebu. The other friend I know got hers in just 4 days and she’s from Olongapo. 😀

Have u tried checking your status at ceac sis?

We are a June NVC, then today it's in Transit to Embassy in Manila. I could use some advise to make sure I don't make this process one second longer then it already is.

We are Applying for the K1, the NVC website says

"Your case is in transit to the Consular Section. Your interview date was provided to you by the National Visa Center."

But I didn't get a date or email or anything, when I called NVC they said they didn't have that info ;)

My Fiancé has had friends say to her about paying some fee at a bank, I'm confused if we need to have her fill out the 6 steps on the website?

Or just wait for the Embassy to contact her by mail then do the next step? Im trying my hardest to get her here fast.

The embassy will not give you your schedule/interview appointment unless its for a spousal/CR1 visa. If your case says "In Transit", your fiance(e) can now pay for his/her visa fee, schedule his/her interview and have her medical get done as well.

What did you show them as proof that you already have your MCN? I just got ours and our status is still AT NVC, no email received yet. I am just worried that they wouldn't let me take the medical exam for the reason that it's still at nvc

Just the screenshot of the status from ceac with your MNLcase number. Just tell the staff at the registration that you are willing to undergo the medical exam even without the nvc letter yet. They will ask you to sign a waiver then.

She went at around 5 (was given the number 23 and 24) and was done at 830 to 9.  They told her what time to show up the next day for the vaccination and blood results.  She said the xray was very easy.  She also was taking her 5 year old daughter through the process as well.  She doesnt have to be there till 2pm the second day.

Thats one of the signs too @LoveSeaBu most that were asked to go back at 2pm the next day are for immunization. I was asked to go back at 2pm as well on my 2nd day. Just had my medical last July 17-18.

Hi @jkelsey 😊 Did they tell you on the first day of medical exam that you passed and your good to go for vaccination the next day? I will have my medical in SLEC next week and I’m a little nervous for their chest x-ray coz they say it’s very strict there. Congrats btw! 🎉☺️

Nope they wont. They will just tell you to go back the next day. There some that were informed already on the first day if they will undergo sputum but mostly were asked to go back the following day for the results. Not sure of this but I'm guessing they have some kind of code language if youre for immunization or sputum the next day. :D I guess if youre for immunization the following day, the doctor who conducted the immunization interview (if this will be your last test on the 1st day) will tell the reception clerk "for check out". That was only my wild guess haha! Goodluck and keep your faith! :)

No the W4 is what you receive from the employer at the end of the year in order to do your taxes. That W4 is transcribed onto the 1040 form and calculations are done to determine the tax that must be paid. So those two items are different from each other but they are required for the interview. Don't be surprised if the CO during your interview in the Philippines does not ask for any financial information. They pretty much have stopped for about 3 years now not asking for it. But it is asked from time to time so you must be prepared for the interview or you'll receive an rfe.

    Thank you! :)
